Test Drive Toyota Prius for the first time - Positives and negatives compared to Panamera.

Porsche Panamera Edition 970
Reviews & Test Rides

My parents' car, a Prius.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to drive my parents' Prius for the first time. It was only for about 20 minutes, though, until I took over driving with my father at an expressway service area and got off the expressway... My parents' Prius is about 10 years old, so it is quite old. Also, just an image.

I wonder if the Prius is so lightweight that the body is afraid it will blow up... or if the gas pedal is so skittish that nothing happens when you step on the gas pedal...

I had assumed that the Prius would be a difficult car to drive. However, contrary to my expectations, the Prius is quite an easy car to drive, and I felt that it was very well suited for Japanese roads. No wonder it sells so well.

But when it comes to highways, it's a different story.

Even though domestic cars sold in Japan are not designed to go that fast on the highway.(I guess it's not meant to be driven down the autobahn like in Germany, or on city streets or on roads with a lot of traffic)I was still scared. So today I would like to write about what I felt about the differences between the Panamera and the Prius.(The Prius is not a four-door saloon or anything, and the Panamera and(I know, it's wrong to compare the two.)

The downside of Prius

First, the downside of the Prius is that it
1 100 km/h is the limit
If driving on the highway in a Prius, speed is limited to 100 km/h(Or perhaps 100 km/h is more than the legal speed limit.)I'm not sure if the newer Prius or the higher grade ones are different. Newer Prius and higher grade ones may be different, but at this speed, the steering wheel shake and body roll are also scary.

2 Afraid to change lanes
Trying to steer and change lanes with the same sensation as the Panamera was not smooth at all and very scary.(although there are some issues with driving technique)

3 No acceleration
Especially when merging, even if you step on the gas pedal deeply, it doesn't accelerate for the sound. With the feeling of a Panamera, "Now I can get in smoothly!" I thought, "I can get in smoothly now!" and stepped on the accelerator, but it didn't accelerate as I expected, so I ended up making the car behind me brake. Well, it was natural.

4 Quite a lot of interruptions
Perhaps the distance between the car in front of me and the car in front of me was too wide, but it was quite likely that I was being interrupted. Moreover, it was as if they suddenly swooped in. This was something I would never have experienced if I had been driving a Panamera.

Positive aspects of Prius.

On the plus side, on the contrary.
1 Smaller size
That feeling of easy turning when you exit the parking lot of a service area. It was so easy to turn around in such a small radius that it made me want to spin around in circles for no reason. I thought that even a woman could drive this car easily.

2 Easy to park
Naturally, the car is shorter in width and length than the Panamera, making it very easy to park. No matter whether there are cars on both sides or the width is narrow, you can park anywhere as long as there is space for one car. This is very convenient.

3 Fuel efficient
Even the older Prius models said they averaged 19 km/l in fuel economy. Even with city driving and traffic, 19km/l is amazing.(My current Panamera is about a 5 or 6 for city driving)

So, as we already know.

If you're mainly driving around town, the Prius would be very good, and if you're using the highway a lot, the Panamera is definitely better.

I reaffirmed that(No wonder.)
