Designed to <strong>significantly cut lap times in wet conditions<\/strong>, the tire promises to let drivers enjoy more time on track, with greater confidence and safety.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-35494\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/img_14-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"Michelin PSS5\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10_Seconds_Faster_in_Wet_Conditions\"><\/span>10 Seconds Faster in Wet Conditions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The PSS5\u2019s standout feature is its remarkable grip on wet and cold surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>At Michelin\u2019s development center, a test driver ran the 911 GT3 RS on the technical, 2.8-kilometer 3bis wet circuit with PSS5 tires. Compared with the previous Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N, the car reportedly shaved more than <strong>10 seconds off its lap time<\/strong>\u2014a leap in performance that almost feels like stepping into a different racing category.<\/p>\n<p>Andreas Preuninger, head of Porsche\u2019s GT models, said customers\u2014particularly those focused on performance\u2014had been asking to spend more time on track in spring and fall. \u201cThe new tire will significantly extend the number of months in which the GT3 RS can be used throughout the year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jorg_Bergmeister_Helped_Develop_the_Tire\"><\/span>J\u00f6rg Bergmeister Helped Develop the Tire<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>J\u00f6rg Bergmeister<\/strong> also contributed to the PSS5\u2019s development. He made fine adjustments to raise the threshold at which the tire begins to lose contact with the road. The result, according to Michelin, is improved stability in wet conditions, giving drivers more confidence to explore the GT3 RS\u2019s full performance.<\/p>\n<p>The PSS5 features a deeper tread, specially designed grooves, and a dedicated rubber-and-silica compound. Together, these technologies help the tire warm up more quickly and stay in its optimal operating window for longer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-35485\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/img_1-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"Michelin PSS5\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Currently_Available_Only_Through_Manthey\"><\/span>Currently Available Only Through Manthey<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>For now, the PSS5 is offered only for the GT3 RS and is available through <strong>Manthey<\/strong>, renowned for its Porsche tuning expertise.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-35488\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/img_11-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"Michelin PSS5\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It may eventually become available for other models and through regular tire shops. Many GT-model owners, however, may prefer a tire with grip approaching that of the Cup 2 without needing a dry-weather-only tire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Porsche owners, tires are more than just consumables.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re essential components that help unlock a car\u2019s full potential and deepen the driving experience.
