Neither of us drinks, and we\u2019re not really fans of izakaya pubs or trendy restaurants, so we went to a buffet. We talked about his solo touring trip last weekend, the blog by <a href=\"http:\/\/wind-and-light-bxtr.blog.so-net.ne.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wata<\/a> that he checks regularly, and how he\u2019d discovered a blog called <span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ameblo.jp\/yamaguchi-munehisa\/entry-12126127375.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cPorsche Is a Teacher\u201d<\/a> and found its perspective incredibly compelling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The blog \u201cPorsche Is a Teacher\u201d was difficult for me to follow, since it assumes a knowledge of how cars are engineered. But my husband clearly connected with this passage:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis system allows the pedal force to vary exactly as intended. Thanks to it, the driver can control engine speed not only mechanically, but also intuitively\u2014with the muscles in the right foot, and indeed with the whole body, in a way that feels natural and effortless. Porsche recognized the importance of this a quarter of a century ago, found a solution, and built it into its cars\u2014without making a big deal of it or boasting, \u2018Look how great this is.\u2019 That\u2019s what makes Porsche Porsche, and it\u2019s hard not to admire the company for it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I see what he means\u2026 That does sound right. I thought the idea of Porsche quietly getting things right\u2014<strong>without making a big deal of it or boasting, \u201cLook how great this is\u201d<\/strong>\u2014was incredibly cool.<\/p>\n<p>We also talked about how <a href=\"http:\/\/panamera-life.com\/entry\/2017\/08\/21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Japan doesn\u2019t offer a service for picking up a new car directly from the Porsche factory<\/a>, along with this and that. We chatted for about three hours, and two and a half of them were about cars <span style=\"font-size: 80%;\">(what kind of couple are we?)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The rest of the conversation was about raising the kids and, briefly, why we don\u2019t need to own a home.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, if my husband and I talk for even three minutes, our daughter jumps in with, <strong>\u201cMommy and Daddy, no talking!\u201d<\/strong> But this time, she didn\u2019t, so we could talk freely to our hearts\u2019 content.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">A Strong Marriage Is the Foundation of Family Life<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve both become parents, welcomed our first child and then our second, and taken on more responsibilities. I think our relationship as a couple has changed along the way, too. We talk less, and it\u2019s become rare for us to go somewhere or do something together, just the two of us.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, I believe a family is built on the relationship between its partners.
