Let\u2019s start by looking at the specs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34794\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2983-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Model 3 Performance delivers a maximum output of 460 horsepower, with an impressive <strong>0-100 km\/h acceleration time of just 3.1 seconds<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThis figure surpasses the Porsche 911 GT3 and rivals the 911 Turbo. Its top speed is 261 km\/h, which is typical for an electric vehicle, but still more than fast enough.<\/p>\n<p>One standout feature is the new adaptive damping system. Similar to Porsche\u2019s PASM electronic dampers, it adjusts the damping force according to road conditions, maintaining stability even during high-speed cornering.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_3011-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance settings screen\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, there\u2019s an \u201c<strong>Insane Mode<\/strong>\u201d that unleashes maximum power, enabling that breathtaking 3.1-second sprint to 100 km\/h. It also features a track mode setting not found on the Long Range, allowing fine adjustments to handling balance, stability control, and regenerative braking strength.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Exterior_and_Interior_Features\"><\/span>Exterior and Interior Features<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>On the outside, the front and rear diffusers and front bumper shape <strong>differ from the standard Model 3, giving a sharper, more aggressive look<\/strong>. A carbon fiber spoiler is added at the rear, enhancing the premium feel.<\/p>\n<p>The standard 20-inch \u201cWarp Wheels\u201d are aerodynamically designed with plastic covers between the spokes. The dashboard replaces the Long Range\u2019s pale trim with a carbon fiber-patterned decal.<\/p>\n<p>The curb weight is 1850 kg, similar to other Model 3 grades. However, the driving range is slightly shorter than the Long Range, officially rated at 610 km by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Real-world range is expected to be around 450 to just under 500 km.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_34788\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34788\" class=\"size-large wp-image-34788\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2997-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance badge\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-34788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The badge that marks the Performance model<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ride_Comfort_and_Handling\"><\/span>Ride Comfort and Handling<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The first thing you notice when getting into the Model 3 Performance is the comfort of the sports seats.<br \/>\n<strong>Though they look firm, they actually offer a good balance of softness and thickness<\/strong>, making long drives less tiring. The side bolsters provide excellent support and hold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driving in Comfort mode, you won\u2019t feel much difference in power compared to the Long Range model<\/strong>. If anything, the 20-inch wheels make the Performance feel slightly heavier, but after a few tens of minutes, that difference becomes negligible.<br \/>\nAlso, <strong>the acceleration in Standard mode feels just as strong as the Long Range<\/strong>. You probably wouldn\u2019t notice any difference unless told.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34791\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2993-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From my experience, <strong>the Performance model is basically a Long Range with Insane Mode added<\/strong>, and the power in Comfort and Standard modes is essentially the same.<\/p>\n<p>Ride comfort isn\u2019t especially stiff just because it\u2019s the Performance model. Thanks to the adaptive suspension, it handles the 20-inch wheels very well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As a Porsche owner, I actually felt it could be a bit firmer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Handling_and_Acceleration_Performance\"><\/span>Handling and Acceleration Performance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In terms of handling, compared to the Long Range, the Performance has less understeer and feels quicker with a stronger connection to the road. Cornering confidence is noticeably higher. However, the suspension isn\u2019t overly stiff, allowing some body roll. Still, the roll angle is well controlled, so sporty driving feels secure.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s the car\u2019s true highlight: \u201cInsane Mode.\u201d Switching to this mode pushes acceleration into a literally insane realm. The Long Range\u2019s <strong>Standard mode is already fast, but Insane Mode is two steps beyond that<\/strong>. You feel a G-force pressing on your throat and chest during acceleration.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34792\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2991-960x1280.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance\" width=\"960\" height=\"1280\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This level of acceleration <strong>outmatches any 911<\/strong>. Especially when accelerating out of corners, the Performance shows an overwhelming advantage.<\/p>\n<p>However, the owner mentioned that <strong>while Insane Mode is used frequently right after purchase, it\u2019s rarely used in daily driving<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_the_Model_3_Performance_Fits_In\"><\/span>Where the Model 3 Performance Fits In<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Model 3 Performance is certainly high-performance, but unlike BMW\u2019s M3\/M4 or Mercedes-AMG C-Class, <strong>it doesn\u2019t offer a dramatically different driving experience from the base model<\/strong>. Compared to Porsche, the gap is much smaller than between a standard 911 and a GT3.<\/p>\n<p>This Performance model should be seen as an extension of the Long Range and RWD models\u2019 capabilities, rather than a special edition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34787\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2998-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if you don\u2019t regularly crave brutal acceleration or high-speed driving, and have no plans for track days, the Long Range model might be sufficient. My recommendation is the Long Range with 19-inch wheels, which strikes a good balance between sportiness and comfort.<\/p>\n<p>That said, the Model 3 Performance also shines in its looks.<\/p>\n<p>The comfort of the sports seats and the overwhelming acceleration available when needed definitely add value. If I didn\u2019t own a Porsche, and were to buy just one Model 3, I\u2019d choose the Performance model.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34780\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_3213-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Tesla Model 3 Performance\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, <strong>for those who already own a sports car, the Long Range or RWD models are more than enough.
