This was no mere polite compliment, but a genuine feeling that an amazing car was right in front of me.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the design, some say it resembles the Ferrari Purosangue, but personally, I feel the Crown\u2019s design is more cohesive. While the Purosangue gives a slightly stretched impression, the Crown Sport feels more solid and compact. If you swapped the badges, you might still say, \u201cWow, Ferrari is amazing!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34655\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2956-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What especially caught my eye were the <strong>21-inch large wheels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They tighten the overall impression of the car and add a sense of luxury.<br \/>\nFurthermore, the use of Michelin\u2019s e.Primacy tires is commendable. It\u2019s rare for a domestic car to choose Michelin over cheap domestic tires aimed at cost-cutting, which is a refreshing choice.<\/p>\n<p>The e.Primacy tires are also used on the Model 3. They don\u2019t offer much grip but have very low rolling resistance, are quiet, and provide a comfortable ride.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34654\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2957-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sophisticated_Interior_and_Comfort\"><\/span>Sophisticated Interior and Comfort<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Looking inside, I was first surprised by the high quality of the seats.<br \/>\nUnlike the typical soft, flat seats often found in domestic cars, these have a <strong>firm, three-dimensional shape<\/strong>. The seat cushions offer just the right firmness and hold, making them comfortable even for long drives.<\/p>\n<p>The dashboard and steering wheel design combine luxury and freshness without sacrificing usability.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a legacy-style layout, not trying to be flashy. Anyone can use the interface without confusion, reflecting Toyota\u2019s conservatively good design.<br \/>\nThe shift lever operation follows a conventional pattern, making it intuitive to use.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34647\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2967-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34652\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2962-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the exact opposite of Tesla.<br \/>\nThe Crown\u2019s interface was designed by listening to users, while Tesla imposes what it believes is the best interface on users. The approaches couldn\u2019t be more different. This is definitely a matter of personal preference.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Surprising_Suspension_and_Ride_Comfort\"><\/span>Surprising Suspension and Ride Comfort<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The most impressive aspect of the Crown Sport\u2019s driving performance was its suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to previous Crowns, it\u2019s no exaggeration to say it\u2019s a world apart.<br \/>\nOlder Crowns lacked rigidity; on the highway, a slightly sporty steering input would cause the rear to lag noticeably. I remember being shocked back then, thinking, \u201cAre domestic cars still at this level?\u201d<br \/>\nHowever, the new Crown Sport is completely different. While not quite at the level of German cars, it has a very solid suspension. Its firmness is somewhat close to the Tesla Model 3 Highland.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34645\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_3111-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The suspension offers moderate softness but has a <strong>firm core<\/strong>. You could call it a \u201cSanuki Udon-style suspension.\u201d<br \/>\nUnlike the old Crown, it doesn\u2019t feel mushy or wobbly but has just the right rigidity. This level should feel just right for those accustomed to European cars.<\/p>\n<p>That said, nitpicking a bit, possibly due to the 21-inch wheels, the \u201cclunk-clunk\u201d noise over bumps was somewhat noticeable.<br \/>\nIf this car didn\u2019t carry the <strong>&#8220;Crown&#8221;<\/strong> name, it wouldn\u2019t be an issue at all, but since it does, I wish the noise control was a bit better. I think smaller wheels under 20 inches might have offered a quieter and smoother ride.<br \/>\nHowever, that might compromise the current impressive design. It\u2019s a tough choice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34642\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_3114-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At town speeds, the ride is extremely comfortable with no complaints.<br \/>\nCompared to the Tesla Model 3, it lacks the smooth rolling and slickness, but I believe this is <strong>largely due to the large tires rather than the car itself<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWhen you pick up speed and take medium-speed corners, there\u2019s a slight feeling of being top-heavy, and the body moves a bit more side to side.<br \/>\nI\u2019d like a flatter posture like a European car, but if it were any stiffer, it might alienate the Crown\u2019s typical user base, so this balance is probably just right.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Issues_More_About_Feel_Than_Power\"><\/span>Issues More About Feel Than Power<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Crown Sport is equipped with a 2.5-liter hybrid system. It starts quietly and smoothly with the electric motor. However, the motor\u2019s torque feels somewhat lacking. While you can\u2019t expect the pure electric power of a Tesla, I\u2019d like a more direct and lively launch, like Mercedes\u2019 mild hybrids.<\/p>\n<p>What bothered me most while driving was the powertrain\u2019s feel. When you press the accelerator, the engine starts immediately. The problem is that the engine sound and speed increase don\u2019t match. Even as the engine revs rise, the speed doesn\u2019t increase proportionally, giving a sensation of <strong>acceleration lagging by about two beats<\/strong>. I found myself pressing the accelerator more than necessary because it didn\u2019t accelerate as expected, which ironically worsened fuel economy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_2964-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Honestly, it felt similar to the old Prius powertrain, lacking a direct connection between engine\/motor and tires. This is the opposite of Tesla, which offers a thrilling driving feel where even slight right-foot movements give you precise control. Unfortunately, that kind of driving pleasure was missing here.<\/p>\n<p>This is likely due to the CVT (continuously variable transmission) characteristics, but as a car bearing the <strong>&#8220;Sport&#8221;<\/strong> name, there\u2019s room for improvement.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s not about outright speed or power but about a more direct acceleration response that faithfully follows the driver\u2019s intent.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding engine noise, considering the Crown\u2019s luxury status, it might be better to improve quietness during engine start and rev-up. Maybe they intentionally let the engine sound be heard to emphasize sportiness, but since it doesn\u2019t correlate with speed, it feels counterproductive. If it were as quiet as the old Windom\u2014where you can barely tell if the engine is running\u2014it would add to the luxury feel.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Driver_Assistance_Systems_and_Overall_Impression\"><\/span>Driver Assistance Systems and Overall Impression<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Crown Sport comes equipped with a driver assistance system called Proactive Driving Assist [PDA].<\/p>\n<p>It helps by automatically applying brakes according to the speed of the car ahead, among other functions. This is similar to the regenerative braking control when set to AUTO on the Porsche Taycan.<br \/>\n<strong>This feature is very useful for those who lack confidence in driving or prioritize comfort.<\/strong> It also includes lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, and various other safety features.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-34646\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_3110-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Crown Sport\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In summary, the Crown Sport is an excellent car for city driving and commuting.
