Named the \u201c7-97 E-Volt,\u201d this EV conversion <strong>utilizes the powertrain from a Tesla Model S.<\/strong><br \/>\nKalmar\u2019s goal was not just to install Tesla\u2019s powertrain into the 911, but to enhance both the car\u2019s environmental performance and its driving dynamics. The result is the 7-97 E-Volt.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Thorough_Weight_Reduction_and_Aerodynamic_Improvements\"><\/span>Thorough Weight Reduction and Aerodynamic Improvements<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The project began with a 964-generation 911 donor car stripped of its engine. Kalmar restored the car using as many original parts as possible. What\u2019s truly remarkable is their dedication to the process\u2014they even melted down and recast the car\u2019s aluminum components. The same process was applied to the glass.<br \/>\n<strong>The most impressive aspect is the creation of a new lightweight body made from flax-based composite materials.<\/strong> This material is also used inside the cabin to further reduce weight. According to Kalmar, the 7-97 E-Volt weighs approximately 1,374 kg, comparable to the original 964 Turbo model.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enhanced_Aerodynamics\"><\/span>Enhanced Aerodynamics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>By using glued-in glass to eliminate gaps and the new body design, aerodynamic efficiency has improved while maintaining downforce. Kalmar reports a 30% increase in front downforce and 20% at the rear compared to the donor 911. A single electric motor mounted on the rear axle delivers up to 450 horsepower, powered by a 63 kWh battery split between front and rear packs to optimize weight distribution.<br \/>\nPerformance figures include a 0-100 km\/h sprint in under 4 seconds and a maximum range of approximately 290 km (180 miles). Drivers can select between Eco and Sport modes via a drive mode selector.<\/p>\n<p>Modern features include electric power steering, air conditioning, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and an infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay. To operate power steering, air conditioning, and the brake booster, an electric vacuum pump has been added.
