However, with the rise of automatic transmissions, the mechanical necessity has become more of a luxury for enthusiasts, and electric vehicles (EVs) take this a step further by completely eliminating the need for a gearbox thanks to the instant torque delivery of electric motors.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hyundai_Adopts_Gear_Shifter_in_EV\"><\/span>Hyundai Adopts Gear Shifter in EV<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Amid this, Hyundai\u2019s recently launched sporty hatchback, the Ioniq 5 N, considers the sensation of shifting gears an important part of driving enjoyment and features a pseudo gear shifter called the \u201cN Power Shift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-33435\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hyundai_IONIQ_5_N_NE_N_Performance_Blue_6-1280x960.jpg\" alt=\"IONIC5N\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This \u201cpseudo\u201d shifter essentially controls output and torque levels, giving the driver the illusion that mechanical gears exist.
