How Far Can You Go on a Full Charge?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was at the end of January this year that the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo arrived at our home.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"dj6z8OV4id\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/welcome_taycan\/\">\u30bf\u30a4\u30ab\u30f3\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f\uff01\u7d0d\u8eca\u3055\u308c\u305f\u30bf\u30a4\u30ab\u30f3\u306e\u4ed5\u69d8\u3084\u30aa\u30d7\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u3002<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;\u30bf\u30a4\u30ab\u30f3\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f\uff01\u7d0d\u8eca\u3055\u308c\u305f\u30bf\u30a4\u30ab\u30f3\u306e\u4ed5\u69d8\u3084\u30aa\u30d7\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u3002&#8221; &#8212; \u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f - \u30aa\u30fc\u30ca\u30fc\u30ba\u30d6\u30ed\u30b0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/welcome_taycan\/embed\/#?secret=tzNrRCbBNv#?secret=dj6z8OV4id\" data-secret=\"dj6z8OV4id\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I bought it used, and at that time the mileage was about 8,030 km, but now it\u2019s 14,393 km. <strong>I\u2019ve driven about 6,000 km in 7 months.<\/strong> (I drive it every day, but since I rarely take long trips, the distance hasn\u2019t increased much.)<\/p>\n<p>This time, based on actual ownership experience, I\u2019d like to share some real data about <strong>the Taycan\u2019s energy efficiency and how far it can go on a full charge.<\/strong><br \/>\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" class=\"ez-toc-v2_0_74 counter-hierarchy ez-toc-counter ez-toc-grey ez-toc-container-direction\">\n<div class=\"ez-toc-title-container\">\n<p class=\"ez-toc-title\" style=\"cursor:inherit\">\u30b3\u30f3\u30c6\u30f3\u30c4<\/p>\n<span class=\"ez-toc-title-toggle\"><\/span><\/div>\n<nav><ul class='ez-toc-list ez-toc-list-level-1 ' ><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/taycan_denpi\/#Taycan_Energy_Efficiency_from_February_to_August\" >Taycan Energy Efficiency from February to August<\/a><\/li><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-3'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/taycan_denpi\/#Driving_Around_200_km_Daily_Is_No_Problem\" >Driving Around 200 km Daily Is No Problem<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taycan_Energy_Efficiency_from_February_to_August\"><\/span>Taycan Energy Efficiency from February to August<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Energy efficiency (km\/kWh) indicates how many kilometers an electric vehicle can travel using one kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity. This is equivalent to \u201cfuel efficiency\u201d in a gasoline car, and a higher number means the car can travel farther on less electricity.<\/p>\n<p>So, below is the Taycan\u2019s driving data from February through August. But first, a disclaimer: <strong>these numbers are taken from Porsche\u2019s app, but for some reason not all data is reflected.<\/strong> For example, although I drove round-trip from home to Fuji Speedway in March, that data isn\u2019t included (March\u2019s recorded distance is only 87 km), and only 869 km of the 7-month driving distance is captured.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I set something up incorrectly\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, here it is:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 February<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 223 minutes<br \/>\nTotal distance: 96 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 3.0 km\/kWh<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 March<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 299 minutes (about 5 hours)<br \/>\nTotal distance: 87 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 6.8 km\/kWh<br \/>\n*For some reason, there was a day with an energy efficiency of 33.3 km\/kWh. Maybe I was going downhill a lot&#8230;*<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 April<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 260 minutes (about 4.3 hours)<br \/>\nTotal distance: 74 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 3.4 km\/kWh<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 May<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 591 minutes (about 9.9 hours)<br \/>\nTotal distance: 190 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 3.8 km\/kWh<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 June<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 551 minutes (about 9.2 hours)<br \/>\nTotal distance: 151 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 7.5 km\/kWh<br \/>\n*For some reason, there was a day with an energy efficiency of 111.1 km\/kWh. Even considering downhill driving&#8230;*<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 July<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 346 minutes (about 5.8 hours)<br \/>\nTotal distance: 47 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 4.2 km\/kWh<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a0 August<\/strong><br \/>\nTotal driving time: 647 minutes (about 10.8 hours)<br \/>\nTotal distance: 224 km<br \/>\nAverage energy efficiency: 3.0 km\/kWh<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>That\u2019s the summary.<\/p>\n<p>According to this, the average energy efficiency is about 3.39 km\/kWh. The unusually high values in March and June (33.3 km\/kWh and 111.1 km\/kWh) may be measurement errors.<\/p>\n<p>That said, energy efficiency is influenced by factors like distance driven, driving style, weather, and road conditions, so it\u2019s hard to draw firm conclusions.<\/p>\n<p>Next, I checked the trip data inside the Taycan\u2019s driver seat display (it seems it was reset once, so this isn\u2019t the total data since delivery):<\/p>\n<p>Time: 152.11 hours<br \/>\nDistance: 4,435.6 km<br \/>\nEnergy efficiency: 4.4 km\/kWh<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33415\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG_6913.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trip data inside the Taycan seems more reliable than the app data, so the energy efficiency is probably 4.4 km\/kWh.<\/p>\n<p>The Taycan\u2019s total battery capacity is about 90 kWh, so on a full charge you can expect to drive roughly 400 km.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Driving_Around_200_km_Daily_Is_No_Problem\"><\/span>Driving Around 200 km Daily Is No Problem<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Whether you see \u201c400 km on a full charge\u201d as a lot or a little depends on the person, but in reality, very few people in Japan drive that far every day. So if you can go this far on a full charge, it\u2019s more than enough for daily life and occasional medium-distance drives (though having a home charging setup is preferable).<\/p>\n<p>For me, even when I take longer trips for work, it\u2019s usually about 150 km. Just recently, I drove round-trip to Kyoto starting with 85% charge (I usually keep it at 85% instead of 100% to preserve battery life), drove about 150 km, and when I got home the charge was at 45%.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <strong>I charged from 10 PM to 8 AM the next morning, and the battery was back up to 72%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If it recovers this much overnight, there\u2019s no problem at all. Even without a fast charger at home, a regular 200V charger is more than enough.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG_6925.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before owning an electric car, I worried about range anxiety and the scarcity of charging spots, but in reality, there\u2019s no problem at all.
