However, the next morning when I got in the Taycan, I noticed the charge hadn\u2019t increased at all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Huh? Maybe the charging cable wasn\u2019t properly connected?<\/strong>\u201d I thought, but I still drove the Taycan to work as usual that day. When I returned home in the evening, I carefully plugged in the charger again, but the charger showed an error message.<\/p>\n<p>And the Taycan\u2019s charging display also showed an error.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32989\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/IMG_6017.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan\" width=\"900\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After getting home, I told my husband, who immediately checked both the Taycan and the charger. But no matter how many times we tried, we couldn\u2019t tell if it was \u201c<strong>a charger malfunction or a problem with the Taycan itself<\/strong>.\u201d (The charger is Porsche genuine, but it\u2019s an older model I bought on Yahoo Auctions originally for a 970 Panamera Hybrid.)<\/p>\n<p>Still, it felt unsettling to go to bed without knowing the cause, so late that night I decided to drive to a coin parking lot with a public charger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If the Taycan shows an error, it means the Taycan is faulty; if it charges normally, the charger is faulty.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, surprisingly, there weren\u2019t many public chargers open late nearby, so I drove about 20 minutes to a coin parking lot with a public charger, parked, and plugged in the cable.<\/p>\n<p>If it charged fine here, it meant the home charger was faulty. If the Taycan showed a charging error again, it meant the Taycan itself was the problem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32990\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/IMG_6019.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nervously checking the Taycan\u2019s charging status\u2026 the error appeared again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ah\u2026 so it really was a problem on the Taycan\u2019s side\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having confirmed this, I paid the coin parking fee for just 2-3 minutes (laughs) and went home that day.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taycan_Parts_Replacement\"><\/span>Taycan Parts Replacement<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The next morning, I contacted the Porsche Center and arranged to have the Taycan inspected that same day.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, <strong>the battery still had about 50% charge left, so I was able to drive the Taycan to the Porsche Center under its own power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, the staff said, \u201c<strong>It might be fixed by a reset<\/strong>,\u201d and I thought it was probably a minor error that would be resolved that easily. But about 30 minutes later, they informed me, \u201c<strong>The reset didn\u2019t fix it, and it will take more time to identify the cause<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since I had my laptop with me, I worked while waiting, and after an hour\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32991\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/IMG_6021.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Dealer\" width=\"900\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The service staff told me, \u201c<strong>There is an error in the Taycan\u2019s internal computer, and the entire part needs to be replaced<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wow!!!<\/p>\n<p>The Taycan\u2019s 800V system voltage requires precise electronic control over voltage, temperature, and many other factors to prevent malfunctions and runaway. To a layperson, EVs might seem simple in structure, but <strong>in reality, they are extremely complex systems<\/strong>, they explained.<\/p>\n<p>The exact cause couldn\u2019t be identified, but some error occurred that caused the computer itself to fail to start.<\/p>\n<p>I asked, \u201c<strong>Could it have been caused by how I was charging it\u2026?<\/strong>\u201d but they said, \u201cWe don\u2019t think that\u2019s the case,\u201d which was a relief (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>However, this part has to be ordered from Germany (a common Porsche story), and it will take about two weeks to arrive, plus about a week for the replacement work\u2014a total repair period of about three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Since I had to pick up my child from kindergarten that day, I borrowed a loaner car and went home. Just yesterday, I finally received news from the Porsche Center that the parts order was confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The repair period is expected to be longer than initially thought: about three weeks until the parts arrive, and nearly a month including the work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s quite a long stay in the shop\u2026 but well, it can\u2019t be helped.<\/p>\n<p>Also, since this was within the warranty period, the parts replacement was covered free of charge. Additionally, several recall repairs will be done at the same time.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Warranty_Is_Important\"><\/span>Warranty Is Important.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This experience made me realize once again how important warranty coverage is. When you make such a big purchase, the peace of mind that you\u2019ll be properly protected if something happens is priceless.<\/p>\n<p>I hadn\u2019t heard many stories of major Taycan troubles around me, but it turns out unexpected incidents like this do happen sometimes.
