Here\u2019s my test drive impression and a detailed comparison with our own Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_My_Friend_Came_to_Buy_the_Taycan_GTS\"><\/span>How My Friend Came to Buy the Taycan GTS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>My friend originally drove a BMW 320i, and after about five years and 50,000 km, was thinking about upgrading to a BMW 4 Series M440i Coupe. However, he suddenly developed an interest in the Porsche Panamera as well.  <\/p>\n<p>He consulted me about it. Having driven the M440i before, I told him that Porsche offers a level of driving performance above that, and especially the Panamera delivers that distinctive Porsche driving experience.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32635\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02912-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Rear of the Porsche Taycan GTS\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>As we talked about his lifestyle and what he wanted from a car, I suggested, <strong>\u201cIn that case, wouldn\u2019t the EV Taycan be an interesting option?\u201d<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>Since I had just purchased a Taycan myself, I enthusiastically shared, \u201cThe Taycan is really fantastic. It drives even better than the Panamera.\u201d That seemed to spark his interest in the Taycan.  <\/p>\n<p>After searching used car sites, he found a Taycan GTS in excellent condition. Plus, <strong>he got an unbelievably large discount.<\/strong> Just hearing that made it sound like a great deal.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32628\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02893-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Interior of the Porsche Taycan GTS\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Differences_Between_the_4S_Cross_Turismo_and_the_GTS\"><\/span>Differences Between the 4S Cross Turismo and the GTS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>So, I got to ride in that Taycan GTS, and first off, comparing the exteriors, <strong>our Taycan 4S Cross Turismo looks bigger overall due to its wagon body style compared to the GTS\u2019s 4-door coupe.<\/strong> Although the front and rear fender bulges are similar in size, the Cross Turismo feels much more substantial.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_0876-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS and 4S Cross Turismo\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>the GTS feels very compact and gives off a sportier vibe.<\/strong> My friend also liked the Cross Turismo\u2019s styling, saying, \u201cThis is cool! It feels like a grown-up Taycan!\u201d and jokingly asked if we could swap cars.  <\/p>\n<p>One standout feature of the Taycan GTS exterior is its exclusive aero parts. The blacked-out aero components emphasize its aggressive look. <strong>The interior also features a GTS-specific package that looks incredibly cool.<\/strong> It really feels like a true GTS.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32632\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02897-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS Sports Seats Plus\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32631\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32631\" class=\"size-large wp-image-32631\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02896-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS Passenger Display\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-32631\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Optional passenger display<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Do_They_Compare_on_the_Road\"><\/span>How Do They Compare on the Road?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Overall, <strong>the Taycan GTS feels more nimble than the 4S.<\/strong> Several factors contribute to this, including power differences. The GTS produces 517 hp normally and 598 hp with launch control, while the 4S delivers 490 hp normally and 571 hp with launch control. Naturally, the GTS accelerates faster from 0-100 km\/h.  <\/p>\n<p>However, in everyday driving, the power gap isn\u2019t very noticeable. <strong>The biggest difference in driving feel comes from the tires and wheels.<\/strong> Our 4S Cross Turismo rides on 21-inch wheels, while the GTS has 20-inch wheels. The smaller wheels on the GTS contribute to a lighter, more agile ride with fewer fine vibrations.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32634\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02899-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS 20-inch wheels\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>A particularly notable feature on the GTS is the <strong>PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control).<\/strong> This active stabilizer system minimizes body roll in corners, making the car feel like it\u2019s glued to the road. This feature is not available on our 4S Cross Turismo and is a unique selling point of the GTS.  <\/p>\n<p>Of course, the 4S Cross Turismo still offers a flat and stable ride, but the GTS\u2019s PDCC takes it to another level. When set to Sport Plus mode with the lowest ride height, driving on winding roads feels almost like piloting a race car. The steering response is sharp, the turn-in is instant, and the car grips the road fiercely.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Among Porsche\u2019s 4-door models, this is truly in a class of its own for driving performance.<\/strong> No other 4-door Porsche is tuned so aggressively for sporty driving.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32636\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02917-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Differences_in_Body_Types\"><\/span>Differences in Body Types<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>What struck me during the test drive was that the difference between the coupe and Cross Turismo body styles is even greater than the difference between the 4S and GTS trims.  <\/p>\n<p>The GTS coupe has a lower overall height and is slightly narrower. The seating position is lower, giving a more sports car-like feel. In contrast, the Cross Turismo\u2019s larger body results in a slightly higher center of gravity.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02895-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS instrument panel\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/DSC02923-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>The Cross Turismo\u2019s driving is excellent, but it gives more of an impression of <strong>\u201ca luxury car that\u2019s actually a sporty sedan.\u201d<\/strong> Its charm lies in being <em>\u201croomier than the coupe yet still impressively quick.\u201d<\/em>  <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the GTS coupe exudes a \u201cpure sports car\u201d vibe, feeling much closer to the 911 or 718 models. <strong>It\u2019s a car that strongly emphasizes the sensation of \u201cbeing driven.\u201d<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Summary\"><\/span>Summary<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Taycan GTS is a 4-door EV that pushes sports performance to the limit. <strong>With PDCC, it delivers handling that stands out even among Porsche\u2019s 4-door lineup.<\/strong> Its direct EV acceleration combined with exceptional cornering ability is truly breathtaking.  <\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo excels at balancing everyday usability with a relaxed yet capable driving experience. There\u2019s never a feeling of lacking power, and it performs admirably on long-distance tours.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>This test drive really highlighted the depth of the Taycan lineup.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32623\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_0904-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche Taycan GTS\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>Even within EVs, Porsche manages to create such distinct personalities. For those considering a Taycan purchase, it\u2019s important to carefully think about your intended use.
