There\u2019s no fear at all on the circuit.<br \/>\nYou can floor the accelerator, and even when lightly sliding through corners, the stability is outstanding.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32561\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0561-1280x1280.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Cayman T on the circuit\" width=\"1280\" height=\"1280\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some cars feel scary when sliding through corners, but the Cayman T doesn\u2019t have that.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s truly controllable and responds exactly as you want. For example, with a 911, thanks to the rear-engine layout, the limit is high.<br \/>\nIt corners with minimal slip, but sometimes the rear steps out sharply, which can be nerve-wracking. However, <strong>the Cayman doesn\u2019t do that.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>If pushed further, it might spin around, but that limit is quite high.<br \/>\nSo for a novice like me, it\u2019s really easy to control.<br \/>\nEven when applying continuous lateral G-forces, it rarely feels like it\u2019s about to lose grip.  <\/p>\n<p>With a 911, the rear slides and stability control quickly steps in to correct it, causing a few tense moments here and there.<br \/>\n<strong>That almost never happens with the Cayman T.<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can really glide through each corner as if you\u2019re dancing.<br \/>\nThe phrase \u201cgliding like a dance\u201d fits perfectly.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32565\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0549-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ample_Power_and_the_Excellence_of_the_PDK\"><\/span>Ample Power and the Excellence of the PDK<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Of course, compared to the 991 or 992, the acceleration and engine output are lower.<br \/>\nIt might not be a fair fight against a 992.<br \/>\nThe acceleration doesn\u2019t quite match up to a 911.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>But it never feels slow. The power is just right.<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can confidently floor it. Even when fully pressing the accelerator out of corners, it\u2019s never scary.<br \/>\nYou don\u2019t get into situations where the speed feels overwhelming.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s one of the great things about the Cayman T.  <\/p>\n<p>Also, the PDK is excellent.<br \/>\nThe 718\u2019s PDK feels a bit subdued in everyday driving, with a smoother impression compared to the 981 era.<br \/>\nHowever, on the circuit in Sport Plus mode, revving hard into the high RPM range and shifting near the redline, <strong>the response is sharp and the sound is fantastic.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe engine note is surprisingly sporty and very satisfying.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve uploaded a video on Twitter, so please check it out if you\u2019re interested.  <\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/boxster_gts\/status\/1769329664961765735?s=20<\/p>\n<p>At Fuji Speedway, speeds reach around 230 to 240 km\/h.<br \/>\nThanks to the turbo engine, acceleration is strong, but I feel the 981 Boxster GTS might have a bit more top-end pull.  <\/p>\n<p>By the way, this Cayman T came with the Sport Chrono Package, which includes a \u201cSport Response Button\u201d that boosts turbo pressure for 20 seconds, but I completely forgot to use it while driving.<br \/>\nA bit of a missed opportunity.<br \/>\nI think I could have driven even faster if I had used it.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_718_Cayman_Truly_Shines_on_the_Circuit\"><\/span>The 718 Cayman Truly Shines on the Circuit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Overall, the 718 Cayman is incredibly easy to drive on the circuit.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s fast, controllable, and wonderful.<br \/>\nThere were about 50 cars running that day, but since it wasn\u2019t a competition, I didn\u2019t focus on lap times.<br \/>\nStill, my time was around 7th overall, which is pretty good for a less powerful Porsche.  <\/p>\n<p>Those ahead were mostly skilled drivers in GT3s, GT4s, or heavily tuned air-cooled machines.<br \/>\nBeing able to post times close to those cars speaks to the high capability of the 718 Cayman T.  <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve also driven a GT3 on the circuit, and it\u2019s truly fast.<br \/>\nIt corners incredibly well but is so quick that you can\u2019t fully push it.<br \/>\nHonestly, I don\u2019t think a novice can unlock even half of its potential.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-32562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0560-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"718 Cayman T at Fuji Speedway\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>with the 718 Cayman, you can unlock that potential.<\/strong><br \/>\nAt least half of it. Even a novice can bring it out.<br \/>\nOf course, more skilled drivers can extract even more.  <\/p>\n<p>My best lap was in the 2:03 range, so a skilled driver could probably shave off about 3 seconds and break the 2-minute barrier.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s how much potential this Porsche holds.  <\/p>\n<p>So, <strong>if you want to drive on the circuit or attack mountain roads, I highly recommend the base 718 Cayman.<\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s truly a great car for learning and is the pinnacle for a novice to master.  <\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re thinking about making your circuit debut, why not consider the 718 Cayman?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The other day, I participated in the 911days driving event and took the 718 Cayman T around Fuji Speedway.
