I recently attended Porsche Experience Day at Fuji Speedway. Plenty of people arrived in their Porsches, and I got to see all kinds of rare models. And, as you might expect, a lot of them came in 911s.<\/strong> Seeing so many different 911s reminded me just how good they look.<\/p>\n Driving on a circuit also got me thinking. I\u2019m sure a Panamera can be fun on track in the right hands, but a 911 must be a blast to drive, darting through corners and feeling so nimble.<\/strong> (The Panamera is perfectly capable on everyday roads and mountain routes, of course. A race circuit is a different story.)<\/span><\/p>\n There are so many different 911s to choose from. I wonder how many versions are in the lineup altogether. And with so many special editions released alongside the regular models, the total must be enormous.<\/p>\n But that also means you can find the one 911 that feels made just for you<\/strong>\u2014and I bet it makes for an especially rewarding ownership experience.<\/p>\n Thinking about all this, I said to my husband, \u201cThe 911 really is gorgeous. And there are so many versions\u2014you\u2019re bound to find one that suits you perfectly.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s true. But that\u2019s exactly why I still haven\u2019t managed to buy one.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are so many 911s to choose from, it\u2019s hard to decide.<\/strong> The standard 911 is fantastic, but they also come out with some incredible special editions. And every new model keeps getting improvements, so I never feel like there\u2019s a perfect time to buy one. (-_-)\u201d<\/p>\n I see\u2026 Is it like trying to figure out when to replace your computer? I\u2019ve also heard that the more choices you have, the harder it is to make a decision.<\/strong><\/p>\n If you regret a computer purchase, you can probably live with it\u2014after giving yourself a hundred chances to reconsider. But a car is a much bigger investment, and a 911 especially isn\u2019t cheap. Of course he wants to get it right.<\/p>\n I asked my husband, \u201cIf I were to buy a 911, which one do you think would suit me?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHow about the 911 Turbo Cabriolet<\/strong> you test-drove before? It was easy to drive and a lot of fun. Your Panamera is a Turbo, so if you\u2019re used to that kind of performance and feel, I think it\u2019d suit you really well.\u201d<\/p>\n He had a point. I think it was about two years ago that I got to test-drive a 911 Turbo Cabriolet, and it was incredibly easy and fun to drive. I even took it on some mountain roads, and it was so enjoyable that I caught myself thinking, \u201cWait\u2014have I gotten better at driving?\u201d<\/strong> (laughs)<\/p>\n I\u2019m not the world\u2019s best driver, so I\u2019m probably better suited to a car that helps make driving feel effortless than one that demands a high level of skill.<\/strong><\/p>\n There\u2019s a lot more to buying a car than you might think.<\/p>\n Ever since Fuji, though, I can feel myself leaning away from the Panamera and toward the 911\u2026 (\uff9f\u2200\uff9f).
