Monthly Visit to the Family Graves<\/h3>\n

Today, I went to visit the family graves of both sides in the morning. Since the beginning of this year, I\u2019ve made it a point to go once a month. By chance, my husband\u2019s family grave and my father\u2019s family grave are just a stone\u2019s throw apart, and they even share the same temple parish, so the graves are close to each other<\/strong>. It only takes about an hour to visit both.<\/p>\n

This is the sixth time this year I\u2019ve gone, and lately, I feel like my luck has been improving<\/strong> somehow.<\/p>\n

The Meaning of Being Alive Here and Now<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not that I visit the graves to boost my luck, but once a month, buying flowers, cleaning the graves, and putting my hands together in front of my ancestors resets my mind.
\nI somehow feel deeply that \u201cI exist now thanks to my grandparents, great-grandparents, and all the ancestors before them\u201d<\/strong>. It\u2019s also a time to reflect on the meaning of being born in this era and living in this place.<\/p>\n

And strangely, whenever I arrive at my husband\u2019s grave, the rain almost always stops<\/strong>. Today, it was pouring with thunder, but as soon as I got there, the rain stopped completely, and I was able to pay my respects without an umbrella.<\/p>\n

The world really is full of mysteries.<\/p>\n

The Amazing Volkswagen Golf<\/h3>\n

Now, finally to the main topic. For these grave visits, I always go in the Volkswagen Golf instead of the Panamera.

\nSince it\u2019s countryside with narrow roads and farm paths, the Panamera just can\u2019t handle it.<\/p>\n

Our Golf is a Golf 7 (early model), a limited final special edition with only 300 units made, equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo engine and a 7-speed DSG. Every time I drive it to and from the graves, I\u2019m impressed and think, \u201cWhat an amazing car!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Honestly, I even sometimes think, \u201cMaybe I don\u2019t really need the Panamera?\u201d (Though if someone actually said they wanted to sell the Panamera, I\u2019d definitely stop them, haha.)<\/span> I\u2019ve written about this before. <\/p>\n

\u2192 Should you choose the 1.2 or 1.4 when buying a Volkswagen Golf?<\/a><\/p>\n

Golf: Japan\u2019s Best-Selling Imported Car<\/h3>\n

Even if I didn\u2019t say it, everyone already knows the Golf is a great car, and the proof is that it sells incredibly well in Japan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the Japan Imported Motor Vehicle Association\u2019s 2015 ranking of new car registrations by foreign manufacturers, Volkswagen\u2019s Golf held the top spot with 25,635 units sold, marking 28 consecutive years as the best-selling imported model<\/strong>. (Though due to emissions scandals, it\u2019s no longer number one now, but it\u2019s still selling well.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only me, but my car-loving husband also praises it as a \u201cwonderful car.\u201d I think the high satisfaction comes from how closely \u201cwhat our family looks for when buying a car\u201d<\/strong> aligns with \u201cwhat the Volkswagen Golf delivers.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most important criterion for our family when buying a car is \u201cthe car\u2019s performance itself must be excellent.\u201d<\/span> (Well, that\u2019s obvious, right? I guess everyone thinks so (-_-))<\/span> In that sense, the Golf is truly a well-crafted car. So, I\u2019ve summarized the points our family values when buying a car below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Family\u2019s Car Buying Criteria<\/h3>\n

Here they are:<\/p>\n

\u30fbReliable performance in driving, braking, and cornering
\n\u30fbHigh stability at highway speeds
\n\u30fbComfortable ride
\n\u30fbPower appropriate to the vehicle size
\n\u30fbSufficient acceleration
\n\u30fbHigh cost-performance ratio (value that exceeds the price)<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, less important are:<\/p>\n

\u30fbCargo space size
\n\u30fbEase of driving (e.g., higher seating position)
\n\u30fbFuel efficiency<\/p>\n

Though the Golf actually has pretty good fuel economy.<\/p>\n

This Golf cost about 3.3 million yen new, which is a decent price, but considering that some Japanese compact cars now cost around 3 million yen, I think it\u2019s a fantastic deal.<\/p>\n

In fact, since a Panamera Turbo costs over 27 million yen, getting this level of performance at about 1\/9 the price of a Panamera is incredible\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

VW really pulled off something amazing here ( \uff9f\u0434\uff9f )!<\/span><\/p>\n

Golf Uses High-Quality Parts<\/h3>\n

I once heard this story from someone working at a Japanese automaker.<\/p>\n

Whenever a rival company releases a new model, they disassemble it to study \u201cwhat parts are used\u201d and \u201cwhat technologies are packed inside.\u201d<\/strong> When they took apart a Volkswagen Golf, the engineers all said in unison:<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course you can make a great car if you use parts this good! ( \uff9f\u0434\uff9f )\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

(laughs)<\/p>\n

Apparently, the Golf used such high-quality parts that were beyond the budget of that Japanese automaker, and the engineers said they lost their fighting spirit rather than gaining insights.<\/p>\n

German cars are basically developed assuming they will run at high speeds on rough Autobahn surfaces without problems, so it makes sense.<\/p>\n
