The High Performance of Porsche<\/h3>\n

The other day, I heard from a former racer who said, “Porsche is a car that achieves running, cornering, and stopping at a very high level.”<\/strong> I definitely agree with that.
\nIts high-speed stability is amazing, it grips corners firmly, and the brakes are just right\u2014not too hard or too soft\u2014making them easy to press and very responsive. Even women find it easy to drive, so much so that you almost get the illusion that your driving skills have improved<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\u2026That\u2019s exactly why you need to be careful. <\/p>\n

What Must You Never Forget?<\/h3>\n

The other day, while driving on the highway, I was constantly checking for \u201cunmarked police cars\u201d or \u201cspeed cameras\u201d because the speed can increase in an instant. Suddenly, I noticed the shadow of an unmarked police car right behind me! <\/p>\n

I immediately hit the brakes, so I was fine, but it gave me a moment of cold sweat. <\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s not just about getting caught by the police or triggering a speed camera, <\/p>\n

the most important thing when driving a car is safe driving.<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n

Before enjoying the drive, the priority is to drive safely\u2014for yourself and those around you. <\/p>\n

When I used to drive a domestic car on the highway, if I tried to go 100 km\/h, the car felt like it might fall apart, which was terrifying, so I naturally had to stick to the left lane and drive slowly.
\nBut on the flip side, that fear made me very conscious about driving safely.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

On the other hand, with a Porsche, the high-speed stability is excellent, and even when changing lanes on the highway, the car doesn\u2019t wobble. Even on heavy rainy days, as long as you avoid large puddles, it won\u2019t slip at all. So it\u2019s easy to end up speeding or overestimating your driving skills. <\/p>\n

But that is exactly the dangerous trap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sad Accident of an Automotive Journalist<\/h3>\n

Before going to the Hakone Turnpike recently, I was researching the weather and conditions online and came across this article. <\/p>\n

\u2192Repeated \u201creckless driving\u201d reports by automotive journalists\u2026 The issue of \u201cPorsche fatal accident\u201d and media dependence on manufacturers<\/a><\/p>\n

In April 2016, Yasuyuki Morino, a well-known automotive journalist and Porsche enthusiast, was test-driving a Porsche 911 GT3 on the Hakone Turnpike when he failed to make a curve and crashed into a tree on the opposite lane. The car was severely damaged, and although Morino was taken to the hospital, he passed away. <\/p>\n

The curve at the scene was gentle and not known as a dangerous spot. According to witnesses, “Many people were driving slowly to enjoy the cherry blossoms at this time of year, and I myself was driving around 40 km\/h, but the Porsche sped past at a furious pace.”<\/strong> The 911 GT3\u2019s top speed is 310 km\/h, and it\u2019s believed that at the time of the accident, it was going over 200 km\/h. <\/p>\n

Morino was a \u201ccar professional\u201d who had served as a judge for the Japan Car of the Year and had written many articles emphasizing Porsche\u2019s safety features, such as braking power and devices to reduce injury in accidents. <\/p>\n

Safety First<\/h3>\n

He may have been pushing the Porsche 911 GT3 to its limits for the test drive article, but if he wanted to drive that fast, he should have done it on a circuit. Perhaps there was some overconfidence in his driving skills\u2026 Ultimately, he lost his life due to reckless driving. <\/p>\n

That said, I believe most Porsche owners drive safely, and in fact, it seems like drivers of other foreign cars often drive more recklessly (or maybe it just feels that way?)<\/span>.
