Actually, Recently\u2026<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve been following this blog for a while, you might have already noticed that I\u2019ve recently started getting interested in the 911\u2026 (-_-)<\/strong><\/p>\n

My love for Porsche actually began with the Panamera. Becoming a Porsche fan because of the Panamera might seem unorthodox to die-hard Porsche enthusiasts<\/strong>, and some might dismiss it by saying, \u201cThat doesn\u2019t mean you truly know Porsche.\u201d<\/p>\n

But including my experience driving the 911 and Boxster (come to think of it, I\u2019ve never driven a Cayman)<\/span>, I was deeply impressed and captivated by the Panamera\u2019s amazing ability to combine seemingly opposing qualities\u2014\u201cluxury and sportiness,\u201d \u201coverwhelming performance and comfort\u201d\u2014at a high level. Since then, \u201cbuying a Panamera GTS\u201d became my personal goal.<\/p>\n

Later, my husband bought a Panamera Edition for the family and upgraded to the new Panamera Turbo last year, but \u201cWell, if you love a car, you should buy it with your own money!\u201d<\/span> so my goal of buying a Panamera myself remained\u2026 but\u2026<\/p>\n

Edition \u2192 Turbo \u2192 GTS\u2026?<\/h3>\n

A few months ago, I started thinking like this:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve driven the Panamera Edition (970), then the Panamera Turbo (971), but is there really a point in buying the Panamera GTS too?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If I were driving a base Panamera, aiming for the GTS would make sense, but since I\u2019m already driving the Turbo\u2026 Also, my husband said about the current Panamera Turbo, \u201cI think I\u2019ll be driving this one for a long time,\u201d<\/strong> so maybe I don\u2019t need to cling to the goal of buying a Panamera myself.<\/p>\n

Also, when I recently went to Fuji Speedway and drove on the circuit, I felt \u201cIt would probably be even more fun if it were a 911~\u201d<\/strong>, and seeing various 911 models there made me think \u201c911s are seriously cool!\u201d<\/strong> (A bit late, huh? lol)<\/span> I know it sounds like I\u2019m making excuses\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s totally fine if I\u2019m just \u201cgetting interested in the 911\u201d now, but since I\u2019ve been saying things like \u201cPanamera! Panamera! Panamera is way better than 911 (\uff9f\u2200\uff9f)!\u201d for so long, I felt a bit guilty inside, and (maybe I\u2019m overthinking it lol)<\/span> but since that won\u2019t get me anywhere, I decided to try simulating \u201cwhat it would be like if I bought a 911\u201d<\/strong> using the car configurator.<\/p>\n

Looking at the 911 Model Lineup.<\/h3>\n

A bit nervous, I first visited the official Porsche Japan website<\/a> and took a close look at the 911 lineup\u2014and was totally shocked!<\/p>\n

So expensive! ( \uff9f\u0434\uff9f)<\/span>

\n\"\"<\/p>\n

I had seen it before, but looking again carefully, it\u2019s expensive. The base Panamera costs \u00a511,620,000, so even the base 911 is about \u00a51,000,000 more expensive than the Panamera in its base form.<\/strong> After reviewing the \u201c911 Quick Reference Table\u201d my husband made recently,<\/p>\n

I thought, \u201cI probably prefer all-wheel drive, and I don\u2019t need it to be super sporty,\u201d<\/strong> so I decided to choose the 911 Carrera 4.<\/p>\n

Finally, onto the Car Configurator Screen.<\/h3>\n

First, I chose the exterior color.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhite is common, black doesn\u2019t feel like me, yellow is off, silver is pretty but costs extra as an option\u2026 okay, red it is!\u201d<\/p>\n

So I selected \u201cGuards Red.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Next, the wheels. The standard is 19-inch Carrera wheels, but I thought 20-inch wheels would look cooler with a longer stance, so I chose \u201c20-inch Carrera S wheels.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Next, interior color and seats. When I had the Panamera Edition, the beige interior looked great, but it showed dirt easily and was hard to clean, plus with small kids at home who might mess things up, I played it safe and chose black.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Skipping seat options, I moved on to optional equipment. The rear badge normally says \u201c911 Carrera 4,\u201d but I wanted something simpler, so I chose just \u201c911.\u201d

From there, I selected:<\/p>\n

\n\u25a0 Wheels<\/strong>

\n\u30fbFloor mats<\/p>\n

Basically, if you can\u2019t drive manual, you have no choice but to pick PDK, which automatically adds about \u00a5650,000 ((((\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f))))<\/strong>(I have a manual license but honestly can\u2019t handle manual driving)<\/span><\/p>\n

Then I clicked \u201cShow Selection Results\u201d and\u2026<\/p>\n

Base Price: \u00a513,720,000!<\/span>
\nPrice for Equipment (Options)<\/span>: \u00a53,182,000!<\/span>
\nTotal Sale Price: \u00a516,902,000!<\/span><\/p>\n

Wow, that\u2019s expensive.<\/p>\n

There Must Be Good Used Ones!<\/h3>\n

So I thought, \u201cWouldn\u2019t it be smarter to buy a used one with some options and low mileage?\u201d<\/strong> and started searching on Car Sensor and Goo.<\/p>\n

But Carrera 4s are quite rare, and the body colors listed are mostly white, black, or silver.<\/strong> When it comes to red or orange, most are GT3s.<\/p>\n

Hmm, tough\u2026 (-_-)<\/p>\n

So I emailed my husband. (Sorry for bothering you at work)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI tried configuring a Carrera 4, but the options alone cost over \u00a53 million, so I looked for used ones, but there wasn\u2019t a single red Carrera 4 available~\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

He replied:<\/p>\n

There aren\u2019t many reds. I think flashy colors are more popular for GT3s and up.<\/p>\n

I see\u2026 so I replied, \u201cThen I guess it\u2019s better to consider buying new myself,\u201d<\/strong> and he said:<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s a Carrera 4, it\u2019s best to keep it as simple as possible with just the sports exhaust and Sport Chrono. Options don\u2019t add much value when you resell.<\/strong> Also, the dealer said visible options like wheels or sunroof increase the price.<\/p>\n

Wow, I didn\u2019t know that (\uff9f\u2200\uff9f)<\/p>\n

I asked, \u201cBut I guess it\u2019s better to have the Porsche Entry & Drive system, right? It\u2019d be annoying if the doors didn\u2019t open automatically?\u201d<\/strong>
\nHe said:<\/p>\n

For me, Entry & Drive isn\u2019t necessary on the 911 or Boxster. With sports cars like those, I want the ritual of inserting and turning the key.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I see\u2026 a ritual. Indeed, Porsche still starts the engine by turning the ignition key, and the dealer also said,<\/p>\n

\u201cStarting the engine by turning the ignition key instead of just pushing a button is Porsche\u2019s commitment to the feeling of \u2018I\u2019m about to drive now!\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Reconsidering Specs Based on Husband\u2019s Advice.<\/h3>\n

So I tried the configurator again with these options:<\/p>\n

\nTotal Sale Price: \u00a515,542,000<\/span><\/p>\n

Hmm, I cut a lot but it doesn\u2019t feel much cheaper (-_-)\u2026 Well, I understand that if I buy one, this is roughly the minimum I\u2019d need.<\/p>\n

The Rear Axle Steering Issue.<\/h3>\n

That day, when I told my husband after he got home, \u201cI configured the Carrera 4 like this!\u201d he said,<\/p>\n

\u201cBut if it\u2019s a Carrera 4, you can\u2019t add rear axle steering. You need an S or higher for that. Are you okay with that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Oh, really? But I\u2019m not that sporty a driver, so I feel like getting the S would be overkill\u2026 Then he continued,<\/p>\n

\u201cBut then it\u2019s the S, and if that\u2019s the case, the GTS already has everything, so isn\u2019t that better? But the GTS and Turbo don\u2019t differ much in price, so maybe the Turbo is better? Or maybe I should just go for the Turbo S! Porsche is really good at making you go down that path.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, anyway, I now know roughly how much it would cost to buy one, and of course there are maintenance costs too.
