The Goodwood Festival was held again this year.<\/h3>\n

My husband had long said, \u201cI want to go there someday\u201d about the Goodwood Festival<\/strong>. In 2018, it was held over four days from July 12th to 15th.<\/p>\n

So, what exactly is the Goodwood Festival… <\/p>\n

The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS), also known simply as the Festival of Speed in the UK, is a motorsport event held at Goodwood in West Sussex, England. It takes place once a year, usually from late June to early July.<\/strong>
\nRacing cars and motorcycles from around the world gather, attracting many motorsport enthusiasts. Japanese automakers also participate, and the event is often featured in automotive magazines.

This Goodwood Festival was revived by the 11th Duke of Richmond, an avid British racing fan, who restored the circuit originally built by his grandfather, the 9th Duke. The first race was held in 1993, and since then, the private grounds have been opened up to host a world-class event where classic racing machines and the latest cars come together.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amazing… a private circuit on private land… In Japan, having a pond in your garden already means a mansion, but building a circuit… The wealth level of British dukes is truly on another level. <\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme is Porsche!<\/h3>\n

At the Goodwood Festival, each year a different automaker is chosen as the \u201ctheme,\u201d and a monument related to that brand is installed at the venue. This year, 2018, the theme is none other than \u201cPorsche\u201d!<\/strong>
\nA massive 52-meter-long monument created by British artist Gerry Judah was displayed at the center of the venue, Goodwood House.

Since this year marks Porsche\u2019s 70th anniversary, perhaps that\u2019s why Porsche was chosen as the theme.<\/p>\n

So, I gathered photos and videos of Porsches displayed and driven at the Goodwood Festival. <\/p>\n

Of course, the \u201c356\u201d is still going strong!<\/h3>\n

The 356 is so cute once you see it enough. It\u2019s rare to spot one in Japan (I\u2019ve only seen one outside of exhibitions, at Fuji Speedway)<\/span>, but at events like this, they\u2019re just casually driving or parked around, which is amazing.<\/p>\n
