However, when viewed from the front, the width doesn\u2019t visually appear to exceed 2 meters. It actually gives a somewhat more compact impression.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31788\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7312-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Range Rover Autobiography\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the side, though, it\u2019s really long. But because it\u2019s equipped with rear-wheel steering, the minimum turning radius is an impressive 5.6 meters for a vehicle of this size.<\/p>\n<p>Once inside the driver\u2019s seat, the view is very elevated, and the distance to the passenger seat feels far away. Since I usually drive cars like the 911 or GLB, this makes the interior feel even more spacious and large.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wonderful_V8_Engine_Feel_and_Ride_Comfort\"><\/span>Wonderful V8 Engine Feel and Ride Comfort<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When starting the engine, the BMW-made V8 awakens with a surprisingly bold exhaust note. However, once you shift into D and start driving, this bold-sounding engine becomes very gentle, producing a soft tone.<\/p>\n<p>The engine sounds as if it has very low friction. While I wouldn\u2019t say it\u2019s on par with a Rolls-Royce V12, it has a similar vibe. The engine spins effortlessly with zero vibration, far from the typical aggressive image of a V8.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31784\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7317-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Range Rover Autobiography Interior\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I wondered if BMW\u2019s V8 always had such a gentle tone. When I pressed the accelerator, the Autobiography started off very smoothly. The gentle \u201cthrum\u201d of the engine and the \u201cmeltingly soft\u201d suspension made me and my wife say, \u201cThis ride comfort is amazing!\u201d as we drove through town.<\/p>\n<p>No matter the situation, it truly feels like you\u2019re gliding on a carpet.<\/p>\n<p>To be honest, both my wife and I had hoped for this kind of ride comfort from the Mercedes GLS we previously drove. The GLS, which is essentially an S-Class SUV, should really aim to deliver the kind of ride comfort found in this Range Rover.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impressions_on_the_Highway\"><\/span>Impressions on the Highway<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Moved by the overwhelmingly comfortable ride, I took the car onto the highway.<\/p>\n<p>My brother said it\u2019s \u201ca car that makes you want to drive slowly in the right lane,\u201d and that\u2019s exactly right. It feels better to cruise in the right lane than to keep pace in the passing lane.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there\u2019s no insecurity or instability at passing lane speeds, but I simply don\u2019t feel the urge to drive faster\u2014even when switching the configurable program to Dynamic mode.<\/p>\n<p>The car never \u201cdemands\u201d to be driven harder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31796\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/DSC04974-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Range Rover Autobiography\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The most pleasant way to drive is to cruise leisurely, like a ship on calm waters.<\/p>\n<p>Testing the handling on a highway interchange curve, despite the very soft suspension, there\u2019s no feeling of weakness. The car remains stable and firmly planted through the turn.<\/p>\n<p>However, there\u2019s no driving pleasure to be found here. The distance between the steering wheel and the tires feels large, and it\u2019s not a car where you read the road surface and anticipate steering angles as you drive.<\/p>\n<p>This suspension setup is designed for the car to do the work, allowing the driver to relax and not overthink things.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Rear_Seat_Comfort\"><\/span>Rear Seat Comfort<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This Autobiography is configured for five passengers, not seven.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the rear seats are very spacious. Even with my brother\u2019s seat position\u2014he\u2019s over 180 cm tall and reclines his seat fully\u2014there\u2019s still plenty of legroom in the back.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_31787\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31787\" class=\"wp-image-31787 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7321-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Range Rover Autobiography Rear Seats\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-31787\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Even with the front seats set generously, there\u2019s ample space<\/p><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31795\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/DSC04971-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"Range Rover Autobiography Rear Seats\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The rear seats also recline significantly, making it so comfortable that anyone would fall asleep on a long drive.<\/p>\n<p>One minor concern in the rear seats is the rigidity of the rear section.<\/p>\n<p>While this isn\u2019t noticeable in the front seats, the rear feels somewhat less solid and reassuring near the rear tires. Compared to the firm front section, the rear feels a bit hollow, and road noise echoes more. This is common in SUVs and likely because the vehicle is designed to achieve optimal balance when carrying some cargo weight in the rear.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Comparison_with_Other_SUVs_in_the_Same_Class\"><\/span>Comparison with Other SUVs in the Same Class<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Personally, I have experience with large SUVs in this class such as the Mercedes GLS, BMW X7, and Porsche Cayenne.<\/p>\n<p>Each has its own strengths and characteristics, so let\u2019s examine where this Range Rover fits in.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31783\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7465-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Range Rover Autobiography\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First, in terms of sportiness, this car is the polar opposite of the Porsche Cayenne. So honestly, it\u2019s not suitable for those seeking sportiness or driving pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I\u2019d rank sportiness as follows:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well\">Cayenne &gt;&gt; X7 &gt; GLS &gt; Range Rover<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, when it comes to ride comfort and luxury, the Range Rover is the clear winner\u2014especially for those who prioritize a soft, comfortable ride. The ranking would be:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well\">Range Rover &gt; X7 \u2267 Cayenne (PDCC) &gt; Cayenne (Air Suspension) &gt; GLS &gt; Cayenne (Steel Suspension)<\/p>\n<p>However, for those who feel a firm ride is comfortable, the order might be:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well\">X7 \u2267 Cayenne (PDCC) &gt; Cayenne (Air Suspension) &gt; Cayenne (Steel Suspension) &gt; Range Rover &gt; GLS<\/p>\n<p>My brother says, \u201cYou should buy a Range Rover or something like this for a relaxed ride,\u201d but personally, I prefer cars that feel good to drive, that make me want to drive more and are fun. Still, luxury is not a bad thing and is sometimes necessary.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31798\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_8200-1280x960.jpg\" alt=\"BMW X7\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Considering all this, I feel the BMW X7 strikes the best balance between sportiness and luxury.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing a car is truly difficult. There\u2019s no absolute good or bad\u2014it all depends on your preferences and what you seek.
