I\u2019ve been driving the 911 Carrera T (MT) almost every day, but since most trips are just around the neighborhood, <strong>I\u2019ve only just passed 1600 km on the odometer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The engine sound has gotten noticeably louder, and I\u2019ve gotten quite used to shifting and pedal operation, so I\u2019m now able to enjoy a more relaxed and nimble driving experience.<\/p>\n<p>Before buying the Carrera T,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u201cWith the sports chassis (in the 992 Carrera T, it\u2019s the only option) and the low ride height, the ride must be stiff. Plus, it\u2019s left-hand drive. Can it really be used daily? Can I even go to the supermarket or convenience store? Won\u2019t I end up not driving it because it\u2019s just not practical for everyday use?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I was worried about these things, but <strong>I\u2019ve come to realize it\u2019s actually quite usable for daily driving.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"911_Carrera_T_for_Everyday_Use\"><\/span>911 Carrera T for Everyday Use<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>If I rate the everyday usability of my previous Swift Sport as a 10, then the Carrera T is about a 7\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Swift Sport was compact and could go anywhere\u2014there was practically nowhere it couldn\u2019t go\u2014so compared to that, the Carrera T isn\u2019t a perfect 10 (laughs). But it\u2019s definitely not a 5 either.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, as long as certain conditions are met, it\u2019s perfectly fine for everyday use.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_low_ride_height_isnt_as_much_of_an_issue_as_I_thought\"><\/span>The low ride height isn\u2019t as much of an issue as I thought<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>I think the fact that I opted for the <strong>Front Axle Lift System<\/strong> plays a big role, but in the month and a half since delivery, I haven\u2019t scraped the underside even once. (In fact, I scraped more often when I had lowered suspension on my Swift Sport.)<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m cautious when driving and try to avoid steep angles on bumps, but it\u2019s been much easier than I expected.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been to convenience stores, supermarkets, and even parking garages with steep ramps at shopping malls, and even in places where I thought, \u201c<strong>This might be impossible\u2026!?\u201d<\/strong> I\u2019ve managed to get in without trouble.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I don\u2019t know how it would be without the Front Axle Lift System since I haven\u2019t tested that, but I\u2019m really glad I opted for it (even though it was an expensive option).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31531\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_2377-1280x763.jpeg\" alt=\"911carrerat\" width=\"1280\" height=\"763\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Left-hand_drive_narrows_the_range_of_usable_parking_lots\"><\/span>Left-hand drive narrows the range of usable parking lots<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Because it\u2019s left-hand drive, <strong>I now only go to parking lots where the ticket machines are designed for left-hand drive cars.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My husband once used a grabber tool to get tickets from right-hand drive-only machines when he had the left-hand drive Boxster (which surprisingly worked well, lol), but I don\u2019t really want to go to such lengths.<\/p>\n<p>So even at nearby supermarkets, I only go to those with left-hand drive ticket machines or parking lots that don\u2019t require tickets at all. That said, I\u2019ve noticed more parking lots with license plate recognition systems recently, so it\u2019s not too much of a problem. Then again, since we live outside the city, it might be a bit more difficult in urban areas.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Left-hand_drive_driving_gets_easier_with_practice\"><\/span>Left-hand drive driving gets easier with practice<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Once you get used to it, left-hand drive isn\u2019t hard to drive. It\u2019s actually easier to judge distances on the left side, and it seems to reduce the risk of clipping pedestrians or cyclists when turning left. Right turns can be a bit trickier to see, but with practice, it\u2019s manageable.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the issue of \u201c<strong>difficulty seeing the right rear when merging<\/strong>,\u201d my Carrera T doesn\u2019t have privacy glass, so visibility is pretty good. This wasn\u2019t intentional\u2014I actually forgot to add the privacy glass option\u2014but now I\u2019m glad I didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Convenience_stores_I_visit_have_become_limited\"><\/span>Convenience stores I visit have become limited<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>I used to be able to go to any convenience store, but now I avoid those with steep entrance bumps or very few or tight parking spaces. In that sense, there are more occasions where I think, \u201c<strong>I really wanted to stop by the convenience store, but better not.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_992_2023_model_sports_chassis_offers_a_comfortable_ride\"><\/span>The 992 (2023 model) sports chassis offers a comfortable ride<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>I had imagined the sports chassis would be stiff and harsh, but the ride quality is better than expected.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not harsh, but on uneven roads you do feel some shaking, so if you\u2019re used to a luxurious ride, it might feel uncomfortable. However, <strong>for those experienced with sports cars\u2014domestic or imported\u2014the ride is totally acceptable.<\/strong> This might also be because I have the Sports Plus seats (18-way electric) with thick cushioning.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Parking_options_in_Osaka_city_especially_Kitahama_are_limited\"><\/span>Parking options in Osaka city (especially Kitahama) are limited<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>For those unfamiliar with Osaka, you might wonder, \u201cWhere\u2019s Kitahama?\u201d (laughs)<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no problem parking in the suburbs, but finding parking in Osaka city can be quite a challenge. Recently when I went to Kitahama, all the parking spots were too tight to park confidently, and when I tried to enter the Osaka Securities Exchange parking lot, I was told, \u201c<strong>Porsches are not allowed to park here.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I avoid parking lots with locking plates (because I\u2019m afraid of scratching the wheels), so when I look for alternatives, only extremely expensive parking options remain.<\/p>\n<p>Umeda, Temmabashi, Yodoyabashi, Honmachi, Shinsaibashi, and Namba all have large underground parking lots, so those areas are fine, but Kitahama is really a no-go zone for me (sorry for the local trivia).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"In_the_end_its_all_about_getting_used_to_it\"><\/span>In the end, it\u2019s all about getting used to it.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Writing this, I realize that compared to regular cars, there are definitely inconveniences. But you get used to it in about a week (laughs). So maybe it\u2019s just a matter of familiarity\u2026<\/p>\n<p>That said, my impression is that the 911 is easier to use daily than the typical sports car image suggests.<\/p>\n<p>Ah, I can\u2019t wait to finish the break-in period at 3000 km!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"911 Carrera T, 1600km.
