The saying <strong>&#8220;Time flies like an arrow&#8221;<\/strong> truly fits. Especially December\u2014I barely have any memories of it before the month was over (maybe just my poor memory lol).<\/p>\n<p>Thank you so much for following the blog &#8220;Welcome Home, PORSCHE&#8221; throughout this year.<\/p>\n<p>So today, I\u2019d like to share the husband\u2019s annual tradition (or so it seems lol) of choosing the <strong>2022 Test Drive Car of the Year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Top_3_Test_Drive_Cars\"><\/span>The Top 3 Test Drive Cars<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To get straight to the point, he said, &#8220;<strong>They were all great, but if I had to narrow it down, it\u2019s these three. Ranking them within these three? That\u2019s impossible.<\/strong>&#8221; So, here are the top three cars of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Also, please understand that my husband\u2019s preferences lean strongly toward <strong>\u201cdriving enjoyment\u201d and prioritizing performance over interior or comfort features<\/strong>, so this is purely his personal opinion.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%91%A0_Volkswagen_POLO_5-speed_MT_4th_generation_late_model\"><\/span>\u2460 Volkswagen POLO \/ 5-speed MT (4th generation late model)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This year, my husband had the chance to test drive a friend\u2019s POLO on the Royu Driveway, and he came home absolutely thrilled, saying:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cIt was insanely fun! I didn\u2019t expect it to be this enjoyable! <strong>Small but mighty, for sure.<\/strong> I was blown away. The ride quality, engine torque feel, rigidity, road grip, brake control, precise handling\u2014and it\u2019s a manual. Nothing to complain about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At that time, it had been about six months since I took delivery of my Swift Sport, but he said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201c<strong>You should just switch from the Swift Sport to the Polo!<\/strong> The Swift Sport would probably sell for a good price. This generation of POLO is really cheap used, so it\u2019s a great value!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He even went to check it out at a dealer (though he didn\u2019t end up buying it\u2026).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30466\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_0361.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen POLO\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_0360.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen POLO\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My husband often says, &#8220;<strong>The fun of driving a car doesn\u2019t necessarily correlate with horsepower or price.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While high-performance cars are of course amazing, <strong>too much power can be hard to handle, and there aren\u2019t many roads in everyday driving where you can really unleash it.<\/strong> Having driven many cars, he feels this more keenly than ever.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%91%A1_Early_Model_Macan\"><\/span>\u2461 Early Model Macan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Regarding the early Macan, my husband had only briefly driven one when his younger brother owned a Macan Turbo, but this fall, he was deeply impressed by a loaner early Macan he drove.<\/p>\n<p>And I was impressed too.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t get to test drive that many cars every year, but <strong>for me, the 2022 Test Drive Car of the Year is definitely this early Macan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My husband said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">The early Macan was <strong>instantly a \u2018Porsche\u2019 the moment it started moving.<\/strong> It wasn\u2019t a car whose charm you gradually discover; within just two seconds of driving, you unmistakably feel it\u2019s a Porsche. The unity between car and driver you experience in this Macan is the same as what you feel in a 911. My husband said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">We gradually increased speed while driving on the Royu, and it was just pure fun. <strong>Even though it was my first time driving a 911, the more I drove, the more in sync I felt with it.<\/strong> The seats were a bit soft, which was nice. And to think you can buy one used for around 3 million yen\u2014it\u2019s way too cheap. I think it\u2019s a classic that deserves more recognition. Of course, there are the intermediate shaft and cylinder 6 issues, but if you have a trustworthy dealer or maintenance shop, there\u2019s no need to be afraid.
