I started this blog in June 2017.<\/p>\n
At first, I launched it on a whim, and my daily traffic stayed in the single digits.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow can I get more people to visit?<\/strong>\u201d After trying all sorts of things, I decided to change the blog\u2019s title about two months in. The new title was:<\/p>\n \u201cUntil the Day I Buy a Porsche with My Own Money\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n From the day I changed the title, traffic shot up. I started getting more comments like \u201cWe\u2019re cheering you on!\u201d and \u201cMake that dream come true!\u201d<\/strong> The blog just kept growing.<\/p>\n To be honest, at the time, I remember having mixed feelings:<\/p>\n \u201cSure, I\u2019d always thought it would be nice to buy a Porsche with my own money someday. But I wasn\u2019t that serious about it\u2014and I never expected the blog to get this kind of response\u2026 (Yes, I can be a bit serious about these things! lol)<\/p>\n Five and a half years later, I\u2019ve finally signed for a 911\u2014and taken a huge step toward reaching that goal.<\/p>\n I don\u2019t have a production slot yet, so naturally there\u2019s no delivery date. But my loan has been approved and I\u2019ve already transferred the deposit, so now all I can do is wait to hear from the dealer.<\/p>\n I\u2019m stretching my budget to the limit, so money is tight. Every day feels like a kick in the pants to work hard and earn more before the car arrives!<\/strong> (lol)<\/p>\n I never imagined that someone who had absolutely no interest in cars would one day buy a Porsche.<\/p>\n People sometimes ask me:<\/p>\n \u201cYou must have been into cars from the start if you began a car blog, right?\u201d<\/strong> But honestly, I had absolutely no interest in cars\u2014not even a tiny bit.<\/p>\n I could tell a Prius from a kei car, but every other car looked the same to me. I wasn\u2019t interested in cars at all, so I\u2019d never once paid attention to the cars driving around me.<\/p>\n I got my driver\u2019s license because I thought, \u201cIt might be useful to have one as ID.\u201d<\/strong> Then I went more than ten years without driving. I simply assumed I\u2019d go through life without ever getting behind the wheel.<\/p>\n Then I married my husband, who watched car videos on YouTube and *Car Graphic TV* almost every day, and listened to him talk about cars. For our honeymoon, we went to Germany, rented a Porsche, and toured the museums of several automakers\u2026<\/p>\n For six months, my husband kept telling me, \u201cYou should drive! It\u2019s fun!\u201d<\/strong> I kept putting it off until he resorted to the ultimate crash course: \u201cCome pick me up in Umeda\u2014by car, right now!\u201d<\/strong> That\u2019s what finally got me driving\u2026<\/p>\n I scraped and bumped into plenty of things, and felt awful every time. But I eventually removed the automatic-transmission restriction on my license and started learning to drive a manual,<\/strong> bought a manual BMW 320i of my own, attended a Porsche driving school in a manual Boxster, and last year bought a brand-new manual Suzuki Swift Sport.<\/p>\n My life outside cars changed, too. Our third child was born, and last year I started a new company and began throwing myself into work with renewed ambition. After everything I\u2019ve been through, I\u2019ve finally made it this far.<\/p>\n I\u2019m sure that if I hadn\u2019t started this blog, I would never have bought a Porsche\u2014or opened the door to so many new experiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n There were times when I was too afraid of the comments to write, and times when I lost sight of why I was blogging in the first place. I had my share of doubts and struggles, but your comments and messages encouraged me whenever I needed it.<\/p>\n Because you\u2019ve always supported me and followed along so warmly, I\u2019ve been able to keep working toward my goal, even when the road hasn\u2019t been straightforward.<\/p>\n Thank you so much.<\/p>\n Still, this is only the beginning (and now I\u2019m wondering whether I can really keep up with the loan payments\u2026 lol). I\u2019ll keep working hard so I can comfortably afford to run the 911.
