Sharing a Car Hobby as a Couple<\/h3>\n

Reading messages on the blog and talking with car enthusiasts, I often hear things like \u201cI envy couples who share a car hobby\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cMy wife has absolutely no interest in cars.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most common comments are along the lines of \u201cMy wife doesn\u2019t oppose buying a car, but she\u2019s not really interested in what we get\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cShe knows about Porsche but doesn\u2019t really understand its appeal.\u201d<\/strong> Indeed, looking around, it seems rare for couples to both be car enthusiasts, and having a shared hobby as a couple, even beyond cars, is quite unusual.<\/strong> (I think it would be nice if we both liked traveling, for example.)<\/span><\/p>\n

That said, I myself used to have no interest in cars and thought \u201cCars are just expensive, useless things.\u201d<\/strong> When I still lived with my parents, I watched my Subaru-loving brother tinker with and wash his Legacy (a manual transmission) every weekend and thought, \u201cWhat could he possibly be doing out there in the blazing sun every day? I don\u2019t get it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I once wrote an article about how I, someone like that, came to love Porsche<\/em>, and<\/p>\n

\n\u2192\u3010Reference\u3011What\u2019s important for cars to become a shared hobby for couples \u2013 a Porsche-loving husband\u2019s wife\u2019s perspective<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Honestly, I realize my husband tried all sorts of things to get me interested (lol).<\/p>\n

What\u2019s More Important Than Explaining Porsche\u2019s Appeal<\/h3>\n

Once, while talking with someone, they said,<\/p>\n

\u201cI was excitedly telling my wife about how amazing this car\u2019s engine is or how powerful it is after reading a car blog, but she just brushed me off saying, \u2018I don\u2019t understand such complicated stuff.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s true that blog posts about engines, new car info, and driving performance are valuable for car enthusiasts but unfortunately don\u2019t catch the interest of wives who aren\u2019t into cars.<\/strong> So trying to explain Porsche\u2019s appeal in that situation probably won\u2019t spark their interest.<\/p>\n

Instead, I think it\u2019s better to focus on the experience of \u201cowning a Porsche enriches your life\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cit offers extraordinary experiences you can\u2019t usually have,\u201d<\/strong> a chance to \u201ctaste a higher level of life through Porsche.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enjoy an Extraordinary Experience<\/h3>\n

With that in mind, here\u2019s a recommended first step to get your wife interested in Porsche:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGo together to a Porsche fair held at a hotel or similar venue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dealers regularly hold Porsche fairs at hotels or luxurious venues. The frequency and locations vary by dealer and region, but the dealer we use holds theirs at upscale hotels like The Ritz-Carlton or Hilton.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t have to be a Porsche owner; if you\u2019ve visited a Porsche dealer for a test drive or have some connection, you\u2019ll likely receive an invitation.<\/p>\n

Before we bought our Panamera, my husband and I attended a Porsche fair at a hotel. The luxurious atmosphere overwhelmed me, and I felt like a super VIP (lol).<\/p>\n

The venue showcased gleaming Porsches under spotlights, and of course, you could sit in the driver\u2019s seat and touch the cars. Besides the display area, there was a lounge where hotel staff served delicious coffee and stylish sweets.<\/p>\n

When we first went to the hotel fair, my husband was busy admiring the cars from start to finish, and when I got bored, I just sat down and enjoyed the delicious coffee and sweets (and it was free, too, lol)<\/span>. Still, I was able to realize \u201cPorsche owners get to experience this kind of world,\u201d<\/strong> and that extraordinary experience left a very positive impression on me.<\/p>\n

I Hope This Blog Reaches Wives, Too…<\/h3>\n

Since starting this blog, I\u2019ve received advice from well-known car bloggers:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018female perspective\u2019 is a strong advantage. Female automotive journalists often have unique viewpoints that men don\u2019t, which makes them popular. I think you can see things male bloggers can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

So I\u2019ve come to realize that a female perspective is a strength and a rare viewpoint in the car blogging world, even though there is demand for it.<\/p>\n
