Curious About the 911 Targa<\/h3>\n

Lately, I\u2019ve started getting interested in the Targa, so I began researching it. The current Targa model is an almost perfect modern reinterpretation of the original 911 Targa that first appeared in 1965,<\/strong> featuring a semi-convertible body style that sets it apart from the 911 Cabriolet. It\u2019s such a rare model that I\u2019ve only ever seen a Targa driving around town once.<\/p>\n

Even on used car sites, there are only about a dozen current Targas listed. It really is a rare find.<\/p>\n

Why did my interest in the Targa spark? Because during a recent trip to Los Angeles, I stopped by the Porsche Experience Center LA and saw a Targa parked on the circuit.<\/strong> Under the open sky, the navy blue Targa looked stunning.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know much about how the Targa drives… but since it\u2019s all-wheel drive, it\u2019s probably more stable on the road (even I, a not-so-great driver, could handle it, haha)<\/span>. Plus, the design is rare, stylish, and really lovely. A red Targa would look incredibly cool, I bet.<\/p>\n

When I mentioned to my husband, \u201cThe Targa is nice, isn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cYeah, I\u2019ve been curious about the Targa too. You don\u2019t see many on the road, and the design is beautiful. But I\u2019ve heard the wind turbulence when the roof is open is pretty intense, and the fact that the roof doesn\u2019t fully retract is a bit of a downside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dealer Sent the Targa Specs…<\/h3>\n

One day, the dealer called my husband about the one-year inspections for our Boxster and Panamera. When he casually mentioned to our contact, Mr. H, \u201cThe Targa is really nice, isn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/strong>, Mr. H replied, \u201cThe production volume for the Targa is even lower than the GT3, so it\u2019s quite rare. But we just got a Targa GTS in stock, so I\u2019ll send you the specs!\u201d<\/strong> (laughs)<\/p>\n

Shortly after, an email arrived.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Targa GTS comes standard with the \u201cSport Chrono Package,\u201d \u201cPASM,\u201d \u201c20-inch wheels,\u201d and \u201cSports Exhaust System.\u201d<\/strong> Also, the rollover protection bar\u2019s \u201ctarga\u201d logo is finished in silky gloss black, matching the wheels, which looks very stylish. Here\u2019s an overview:<\/p>\n

Looking at the specs with my husband, I casually said, \u201cIt\u2019s so cool, but if it\u2019s a Targa, I\u2019d want a sporty body color like red or blue.\u201d<\/strong> Then I saw the price and was shocked.<\/p>\n

Total vehicle price: \u00a524,189,320!!<\/span> (\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f)))<\/p>\n

That\u2019s expensive!<\/p>\n

911… Still Undecided<\/h3>\n

Looking over these specs, my husband said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I\u2019m going to buy a Targa, I\u2019d want to drive it more relaxed rather than pushing the engine hard. So maybe I don\u2019t need the GTS; the standard model might be enough. Also, the 911 Cabriolet is nice too\u2014so pretty.<\/strong> But with the new 911 coming out this fall, buying one now feels tricky… Unless they give a huge discount, which Porsche usually doesn\u2019t… And even if I buy, I\u2019d hate to give up the Boxster. Maybe swap it for the Panamera… but then again…\u201d<\/p>\n

As usual, he was mumbling in his \u201cundecided loop about wanting a 911 but not being able to decide\u201d<\/strong> (laughs).<\/p>\n

Still, the Targa really is cool.
