Loves Cars but Not Interested in Movies<\/h3>\n

My husband is a self-proclaimed car enthusiast, but when it comes to movies, he seems completely uninterested. On the other hand, I\u2019m quite fond of films and often watch a good number of them on Amazon Prime Video<\/a>. (Lately, I\u2019ve been watching more on Netflix too.)<\/span><\/p>\n

However, whenever I bring up movie topics with him, his responses are always like \u201cpushing on a curtain\u201d<\/strong>, <\/p>\n

Me: \u201cThat scene was so beautiful, wasn\u2019t it?\u201d
\nHusband: \u201cI don\u2019t get it. They all look the same to me.\u201d<\/em>
\nMe: \u201c\u2026\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Me: \u201cThe Hugh Jackman movie was really good!\u201d
\nHusband: \u201cWho\u2019s that? Never heard of him.\u201d<\/em>
\nMe: \u201cNo, no, I\u2019ve told you about him like 100 times! He was in X-MEN!\u201d
\nHusband: \u201cDon\u2019t know.\u201d<\/em>
\nMe: \u201c……\u201d<\/p>\n

That kind of vibe.<\/p>\n

Yet, when the topic turns to cars, he can instantly identify models like \u201cThat\u2019s the late model of \u25ef\u25ef\u201d or \u201cThe headlights are slightly different, so it\u2019s a \u25ef\u25ef\u201d<\/strong>. So why can\u2019t he recognize people\u2019s faces? He really has no interest.<\/p>\n

Movies My Husband Actually Watches<\/h3>\n

That said, my husband does occasionally watch movies. When I say, \u201cIt\u2019s rare to see you watching a movie!\u201d he grumbles, \u201cYeah, I\u2019m watching because the main character drives a 911, but the 911 hardly shows up!\u201d<\/strong> and fast-forwards through the scenes.<\/p>\n

…Well, that\u2019s not really \u201cwatching a movie\u201d by most people\u2019s standards (-_-)<\/p>\n

As far as I know, the movies he\u2019s watched at home include: <\/p>\n

\u2460 \u201cTop Gun\u201d starring Tom Cruise\u2026 the protagonist\u2019s lover\u2019s instructor drives a Porsche 356<\/strong>
\n\u2461 \u201cRisky Business\u201d starring Tom Cruise\u2026 the protagonist drives his father\u2019s Porsche<\/strong> in a scene
\n\u2462 \u201cAbout a Boy\u201d starring Hugh Grant\u2026 the protagonist drives an Audi TT<\/strong>
\n\u2463 \u201cLiar Liar\u201d starring Jim Carrey\u2026 the protagonist drives a Mercedes-Benz SL<\/strong>
\n\u2464 \u201cMission: Impossible\u201d series starring Tom Cruise\u2026 the protagonist drives a BMW<\/strong> or Audi<\/strong>
\n\u2465 \u201cTransporter\u201d series starring Jason Statham\u2026 the protagonist drives an Audi<\/strong>
\n\u2466 \u201c007\u201d series\u2026 James Bond drives an Aston Martin<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s about it. (He\u2019s apparently not interested in Fast & Furious.)<\/span><\/p>\n

But since he watches for the cars, when I ask, \u201cWhat\u2019s About a Boy about?\u201d<\/strong> he just says, \u201cI forgot. Something about a kid.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Drama Californication<\/h3>\n

Recently, my husband said, \u201cThere\u2019s this American drama called Californication<\/a> that\u2019s really interesting. Once you start watching, you can\u2019t stop.\u201d<\/strong> When I asked, \u201cIs there a Porsche or something in it?\u201d he replied, \u201cThe main character drives an air-cooled 911 Cabriolet (964)!\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Even though he started watching just for the Porsche, he found the story so interesting that he\u2019s watched up to season 4. Here\u2019s what it\u2019s about:<\/p>\n

\u201cCalifornication\u201d is an American romantic comedy TV drama produced from 2007 to 2014. It has 7 seasons and 84 episodes (each about 28 minutes).
\nThe lead actor, David Duchovny<\/strong>, won the Best Actor in a Television Series \u2013 Comedy or Musical at the 65th Golden Globe Awards for his role as Hank, and received numerous other nominations, making this show his signature work after The X-Files<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The synopsis is roughly as follows: <\/p>\n

Hank Moody, a novelist, had a bestseller with his debut work but has since struggled to write anything successful. He\u2019s still hung up on his ex-girlfriend Karen and deeply loves his estranged daughter Becca, but lives a reckless life, chasing women and drowning in alcohol. Despite this, Hank desperately tries to win Becca\u2019s affection but ends up causing various troubles.

The 911 with the Broken Headlight<\/h3>\n

This Californication drama is a comedy that\u2019s easy and fun to watch, but \u201cthe 911 Cabriolet (964) appears frequently\u201d<\/strong>. (Early on, the right headlight gets broken, but the protagonist keeps driving without it.)<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s kind of scary and painful-looking without the headlight… (\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f)). My husband said, <\/p>\n

Usually, when cars appear in movies or dramas, it\u2019s just during car chases or brief shots, but in Californication, the 964 is like the protagonist\u2019s partner and appears all the time<\/strong>. The main character often talks with his daughter or travels around in this 964… so there are more car scenes than in other movies or dramas, which is great.<\/p>\n

He also mentioned that the 911 Cabriolet (964) in this drama always has its roof down.<\/p>\n

For car lovers who want to see cars featured in movies and dramas (if there are such people)<\/span>, \u201cCalifornication\u201d<\/a> comes highly recommended.<\/p>\n

…Lately, my husband\u2019s been saying \u201cair-cooled! air-cooled!\u201d nonstop, and I\u2019m pretty sure it\u2019s all because of this drama\u2026 ((\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f))!?<\/p>\n
