A Long-Awaited Boxster Drive<\/h3>\n

Yesterday, I drove the Boxster (981 GTS) for the first time in a while.<\/strong> Whenever I get behind the wheel of our Porsche, I always write \u201cIt\u2019s been a while…<\/strong>,\u201d but this time, I honestly couldn\u2019t even remember the last time I drove the Boxster\u2014it had been that long.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

Usually, I drive my beloved Swift Sport (MT)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a year since I took delivery, and I drive it almost every day, so I was a little excited thinking, \u201cNow\u2019s the time to show what I\u2019ve learned about driving a manual\u2026!<\/strong>\u201d as I set off.<\/p>\n

While I love my Swift Sport for its fun factor, the 981 Boxster GTS was on another level!<\/p>\n

I was reminded once again that this car combines fun beyond imagination with an incredible sense of exhilaration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

At the same time, the ride felt even smoother and more supple than before.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s as if the Boxster has matured\u2014not just a wild child anymore, but also showing a more refined, grown-up side\u2026<\/p>\n

My mother-in-law, who had just returned from a hot spring trip with my husband in the Boxster, said, \u201cThe ride in this Porsche was amazing~<\/strong>\u201d with delight. Indeed, whether in the driver\u2019s seat or passenger\u2019s, the smoothness of the ride remained consistent, making it a comfortable car that never tires you out no matter how long you\u2019re in it.<\/p>\n

My First Time Blipping Myself<\/h3>\n

But the biggest takeaway from this Boxster drive was that I was finally able to blip the throttle myself and experience that amazing feeling for the first time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019d heard before that modern Porsches don\u2019t encourage drivers to blip the throttle themselves on public roads, and the pedal layout is slightly less conducive to blipping<\/strong><\/del> actually recommend heel-and-toe less, and the pedal arrangement reflects that<\/strong>, but during yesterday\u2019s drive, I didn\u2019t feel that at all.<\/p>\n

To think that the Boxster I once struggled so much with<\/a> would one day be a car I could drive like this\u2026 it\u2019s truly moving to look back on.<\/p>\n

When I first started driving the Swift Sport a year ago, my husband said,<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want, you should practice every day until you can blip the throttle yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, I thought, \u201cNo way! That\u2019s impossible!<\/strong>\u201d But I gave it a try. At first, I\u2019d get harsh shift shocks or not blip enough, ending up riding the clutch halfway, so naturally, it didn\u2019t go well.<\/p>\n

However, with daily practice, I gradually got used to it, and now I can blip the throttle with joy.<\/p>\n

It really is true that \u201cpractice makes perfect<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thanks to that practice, when I blipped the throttle myself in the Boxster, it felt incredible\u2014truly, I experienced for the first time the sensation of running with the Boxster on my own timing and with my own hands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course, if you leave it to auto-blip (in the 981 GTS, auto-blip is ON in Sport Plus mode), it does a much better job than I ever could, and it feels great.<\/p>\n

But on the other hand, you still feel like someone else is controlling it.<\/p>\n

In that sense, being able to blip the throttle yourself multiplies the fun of driving a manual car many times over.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t get enough of this! I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever go back to auto-blip now\u2026 it\u2019s just that fun!\u201d I kept saying, and my husband replied,<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, auto-blip is smart and great, but when I\u2019m driving on the Royu or other beautiful roads, I switch to Sport mode (in the 981 GTS, Sport mode doesn\u2019t enable auto-blip)<\/strong> and blip the throttle myself.
\nWhen the timing is just right, the feeling is indescribable.
\nI can\u2019t help but grin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

When I finally got comfortable driving the MT Boxster, I wrote a blog post saying I was \u201crelying on auto-blip to drive<\/strong>.\u201d Then I received a comment saying, \u201cIt\u2019s even more fun when you can blip yourself.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, I thought, \u201cI get that, but there\u2019s no way I can do that right now<\/strong>,\u201d and I was halfway ready to give up. But on this day, I truly felt from the bottom of my heart, \u201cI\u2019m so glad I didn\u2019t give up and kept practicing manual driving.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

The world of cars is deep.
\nThere\u2019s still so much fun and excitement I haven\u2019t discovered yet.<\/p>\n

As I open each door, I feel myself getting more and more hooked\u2026 (laughs) but for now, I want to keep going at my own pace and see how far I can go.<\/p>\n
