However, there was one long-standing issue I wasn\u2019t happy with.<\/p>\n<p>That was <strong>the seat shape not fitting my body<\/strong>. The 964 Carrera 2 comes with two types of factory seats: standard and sport seats. I placed an order right away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hb.afl.rakuten.co.jp\/hgc\/g00q9486.hx7vp9ee.g00q9486.hx7vqa8b\/Rinker_t_20220728180217?pc=https%3A%2F%2Fitem.rakuten.co.jp%2Fcarshopconnect%2Fdotty-lbs00175%2F&amp;m=http%3A%2F%2Fm.rakuten.co.jp%2Fcarshopconnect%2Fi%2F10042656%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-29240 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/dotty-1280x783.jpg\" alt=\"dotty\" width=\"1280\" height=\"783\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This seat cover is not a universal product but a fully custom design for each model. <strong>At the time of writing, covers are available for Porsche 964, 996, and 997 models<\/strong>, and if your model isn\u2019t listed, you can request development through their website.<\/p>\n<p>I chose the Dotty LUXUR-ALCANTARA seat cover, which features Alcantara on the seat and backrest, with the rest made of PVC leather.<\/p>\n<p>The 964 seats come in standard and sport versions; since mine is standard, I selected the standard seat cover.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can choose the Alcantara color between black and wine red.<\/strong> Based on the car\u2019s interior and exterior vibe, I went with black. For the PVC leather parts, options include black, gray, beige, mocha brown, and aroma wine.<\/p>\n<p>Samples of these materials can be requested for free, so it\u2019s a good idea to check them beforehand. I chose black to match my car\u2019s interior.<\/p>\n<p>Also, <strong>you can select the stitch color.<\/strong> This was the toughest choice, with 14 options available. Initially, I considered blue or green to match the body color, but they clashed with the black leather, so I ruled them out.<\/p>\n<p>White was another option, but since there are no white accents inside or outside the car and it seemed too conspicuous, I decided on <strong>a darker tone that matches the silver wheels, so I chose silver stitching.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Install_the_Seat_Cover\"><\/span>How to Install the Seat Cover<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>About a month after ordering, the seat cover arrived.<\/p>\n<p>The quality was <strong>better than I expected\u2014very high-end.<\/strong> I\u2019d say the cost performance is definitely worth it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-29238\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/64F88661-5817-40F9-A271-AD61E6680A50-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Seat cover arrival\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I immediately started the installation. Fortunately, the <a href=\"https:\/\/m-connect.co.jp\/pdf\/P964.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">manufacturer provides a model-specific instruction manual<\/a>, so I followed it step by step.<\/p>\n<p>To start with my impression: it took about two hours, but <strong>the installation itself was relatively easy.<\/strong> There was no need to remove the seats, and slipping the cover on was hassle-free. Unless you\u2019re extremely clumsy, anyone should be able to install it.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>there was one tricky part<\/strong> I want to share.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-29233\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/F3CC037E-F51C-4DB5-AFDE-99B00CF180B5-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Removing the seat lever\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That was <strong>removing the lever that folds the seatback forward.<\/strong> There are two levers on each seat, so four in total. The manual says, &#8220;<strong>Just pull them off<\/strong>,&#8221; but pulling normally didn\u2019t budge them at all.<\/p>\n<p>Even with a lot of force, they barely moved. Worried about breaking them, I used an interior trim tool to wedge in from both sides and gradually pry them off using leverage. Repeating this made removal easy.<\/p>\n<p>After that, the rest was straightforward.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the plastic cover on the seatback, slip on the cover, and secure it with Velcro and strings.<\/p>\n<p>If this part goes smoothly, the whole job should be done within an hour.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Review_of_the_Seat_Cover\"><\/span>Review of the Seat Cover<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>First, <strong>the look after installation is truly fantastic.<\/strong> It\u2019s hard to believe it\u2019s just a seat cover, and it instantly adds a sense of luxury.<\/p>\n<p>Also, since the seat shape remains factory original, it doesn\u2019t have the obvious aftermarket look of racing seats. Although it\u2019s just a cover, <strong>it feels like the seat has gained thickness, preventing my body from sinking too much.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Plus, the Alcantara holds the body just right, reducing posture collapse and making it easier to maintain the correct driving position. My wife also tried it and said, &#8220;<strong>It feels like a new car! Glad I chose silver.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_29225\" style=\"width: 970px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29225\" class=\"size-large wp-image-29225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/42941B56-5E1B-4051-BA1C-EDE1303F62CC-960x1280.jpeg\" alt=\"Seatback pocket\" width=\"960\" height=\"1280\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-29225\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The seatback also has a pocket<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Of course, since the seat shape itself doesn\u2019t change, it\u2019s not as effective as swapping the seat entirely, but <strong>driving on mountain roads with this cover is much easier.<\/strong> It really shows how much my body was moving on the original leather seats.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, switching to bucket seats or other firm seats reduces lap times significantly on circuits, and this cover provides a similar effect.<\/p>\n<p>With less unwanted steering effort to keep the body stable, steering feels smoother. Therefore, <strong>cornering is more stable, and precise steering control is possible.<\/strong> Most importantly, <strong>it\u2019s less tiring even after long drives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also, unlike typical seat covers, it never slips or shifts. This is thanks to the precise custom design and the abundance of securing straps and Velcro.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m really glad this cover improved driving comfort so much. <strong>The cost performance is excellent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I highly recommend it to 964 owners who are unhappy with their seat comfort, have worn seats, or want to prevent further seat deterioration.<\/p>\n<h3
