Seeing it in person for the first time sent my excitement through the roof. \u201c<strong>It looks incredible!<\/strong>\u201d I exclaimed, letting my unfiltered thoughts slip out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29103\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_8417.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3 (992)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new design felt sharper and less soft-edged, and this was the Touring Package, without the rear wing.<\/p>\n<p>It had a presence that was unmistakably different from a standard 911, even without a wing. Look closely, and you\u2019ll spot the GT3 badge on the rear grille: <strong>that\u2019s how you know it\u2019s a GT3.<\/strong> It doesn\u2019t shout about what it is, yet its understated presence speaks volumes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I love that quiet confidence\u2014the kind of understated cool that doesn\u2019t need to show off.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The owner\u2019s taste was impeccable, too. The GT3 had been specified with a refined, grown-up feel, which suited it beautifully.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Porsche_911_GT3_Test-Drive_Impressions\"><\/span>My Porsche 911 GT3 Test-Drive Impressions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>The GT3 I drove this time was equipped with PDK.<\/strong> We previously owned a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/say-good-by-gt3-202104\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">later 991-generation GT3 with a manual transmission,<\/a> and I\u2019ve also driven both early- and later-generation 991 GT3s belonging to people we know. Here\u2019s how this new car compared with those experiences.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Easiest_GT3_to_Drive\"><\/span>The Easiest GT3 to Drive<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>I\u2019ve only had the chance to drive a GT3 a few times, so I can\u2019t make a sweeping judgment\u2014but <strong>this was the easiest GT3 I\u2019ve driven.<\/strong> It felt effortless to drive.<\/p>\n<p>The 991 GT3 we used to own put me straight into attack mode the moment I climbed in and gripped the steering wheel: \u201c<strong>Let\u2019s go!<\/strong>\u201d Especially on the Royu Driveway, it seemed to urge me on: <strong>\u201cThere\u2019s more in me!\u201d and \u201cKeep going!\u201d<\/strong> It wasn\u2019t a car that made me want to take it easy.<\/p>\n<p>The 992 GT3, by contrast, was remarkably easy to drive.<\/p>\n<p>It felt relaxed and unhurried\u2014so much so that I could almost drive along humming to myself. Then I\u2019d glance at the speedometer and think, \u201c<strong>Wow, I\u2019m going pretty fast!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-29105\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/20220716101259-1280x960.jpeg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3 (992)\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before I set off, the owner warned me, \u201c<strong>There\u2019s no creep function, so it might feel a little tricky to drive.<\/strong>\u201d But it felt completely natural. I loved how the car responded exactly as I wanted with just a little pressure on the accelerator.<\/p>\n<p>The car had only just been delivered and had covered barely 100 km when I drove it. The owner cautioned me, \u201c<strong>The brakes are still really stiff, so be careful.<\/strong>\u201d Sure enough, there were moments when I pressed the pedal as I normally would and thought, \u201c<strong>Huh? I need to press harder?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I imagine that feeling would ease as the car was driven more.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Handling_Is_Outstanding\"><\/span>The Handling Is Outstanding<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The GT3\u2019s handling is incredible. It turns beautifully, yet <strong>never feels so eager to turn that it becomes intimidating.<\/strong> It\u2019s simply a joy to drive. I found myself wishing, \u201c<strong>I wish this bend would keep going for another kilometer\u2014or that I could just keep turning forever.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When I drove the 991 GT3, its handling was so good that my husband and I often said, \u201c<strong>There\u2019s no way the next generation can top this.<\/strong>\u201d This car made me realize all over again just how remarkable Porsche is: <strong>there was still another level to reach.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This time, I honestly thought, \u201c<strong>Can Porsche really make a GT3 that performs even better than this?<\/strong>\u201d And yet I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll find a way to top it again\u2026 (laughs)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29104\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_7507.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Ride_Is_More_Comfortable_Than_I_Expected\"><\/span>The Ride Is More Comfortable Than I Expected<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The ride wasn\u2019t as stiff as I\u2019d expected. I\u2019d heard people on YouTube and in test-drive reviews describe it as \u201c<strong>stiff, really stiff<\/strong>,\u201d so I got behind the wheel braced for the worst. It probably helped that I drove it on the Royu Driveway rather than on ordinary roads with heavy traffic and lots of stops at traffic lights, but even so\u2026<\/p>\n<p>My overall impression was that it was far more comfortable than I\u2019d imagined\u2014absolutely easy enough to live with.<\/p>\n<p>The owner, though, teased me: \u201c<strong>No way you can call this not that stiff, Mina\u2014you\u2019re already completely desensitized! LOL.<\/strong>\u201d (laughs)<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"PDK_Suits_Me_Better_Than_a_Manual\"><\/span>PDK Suits Me Better Than a Manual<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This comes down to personal preference, but for someone like me, who isn\u2019t especially confident behind the wheel, this drive reminded me that I\u2019d rather have a PDK GT3 than a manual.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m used to driving a manual\u2014my everyday car is a manual Suzuki Swift Sport\u2014and I recently drove an air-cooled Porsche 964 with a manual, which turned out to be surprisingly easy. So I think I could drive a manual GT3 if I got behind the wheel today.<\/p>\n<p>But having to shift and work the clutch through every bend would make it harder to focus fully on that wonderful handling, which would be a shame. For me, <strong>it\u2019s more fun to hold the steering wheel with both hands and drive this GT3<\/strong>. (And the PDK is incredibly smart, too.)<\/p>\n<p>So if my husband ever says he wants to buy another GT3, I think I\u2019ll tell him, \u201cI want the PDK!\u201d LOL.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Porsche_911_GT3_My_Overall_Verdict\"><\/span>Porsche 911 GT3: My Overall Verdict<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Those are my impressions, in a nutshell.<\/p>\n<p>I can absolutely understand why so many people want to <strong>own a GT3 at least once.<\/strong> Even compared with another Porsche\u2014or another 911\u2014the GT3 feels like it belongs in a different league.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve experienced it, it\u2019s hard not to get hooked. And even though I say I prefer PDK, I\u2019ll admit I\u2019m also curious: \u201c<strong>What\u2019s a manual GT3 like?
