The Open Two-Seater\u2019s Trunk<\/h3>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard many people say that the Boxster\u2019s trunk can\u2019t hold much luggage,\u201d<\/strong> and since (I used to think so too)<\/span>, I decided to put that to the test.<\/p>\n

Because the Boxster features a \u201cmid-engine layout with the engine placed in the middle of the chassis,\u201d<\/strong> it has trunks both in the front and rear. To open the trunk, you either pull this lever under the driver\u2019s seat,<\/p>\n

or press the trunk button on the key fob.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

By the way, since the Boxster has trunks at both front and rear, the key fob has more buttons than other Porsche models.<\/strong> (Left is the Boxster, right is the Panamera)<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Then, with a \u201cpop\u201d sound, the hood opens slightly. You slip your hand into the gap and pull the lever inside,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and the hood fully opens, revealing a surprisingly spacious trunk.<\/p>\n

The bottom is much deeper than I had imagined. By the way, my husband\u2019s medium-sized suitcase that he always takes on overseas business trips fits easily like this.<\/p>\n

Here it is standing upright. Of course, the hood won\u2019t close this way, but I hope this gives you a sense of just how deep the Boxster\u2019s front trunk really is.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Rimowa Porsche suitcase (33L)<\/a> also fits comfortably like this.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

At this rate, I think you could probably fit three of them in (laughs). Of course, you can\u2019t fit two medium-sized suitcases together, but one suitcase plus bags and other items should fit easily.<\/p>\n

Next, the rear trunk. This one is shallower than the front trunk.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It\u2019s definitely too small for a medium-sized suitcase,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

but a smaller Porsche suitcase (33L)<\/a> fits without any problem.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

By the way, when my husband goes on a Boxster touring trip alone, he loads his suitcase in the front like this,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and packs his full touring kit in the rear trunk.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

He carries engine oil<\/a>, a genuine lightweight aluminum 911 car jack (not sold normally, apparently bought on Yahoo Auctions)<\/span>, a puncture repair kit<\/a>, and water for a spray bottle. Following the example of the well-known Boxster touring blogger wata-san<\/a>, he\u2019s prepared so he can fix a flat tire anytime while on tour.<\/p>\n

My husband often says, \u201cAmong open two-seaters from other manufacturers, the Boxster\u2019s trunk is one of the most spacious for luggage.\u201d<\/strong> Indeed, after testing it together this time, I felt \u201cthere\u2019s absolutely no problem fitting two suitcases and going on a hot spring trip as a couple in the Boxster.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
