The 981 is supple, but the 718 is very solid.<br \/>\nThe handling has improved significantly, and I thought, \u201c<strong>This is evolution at its finest.<\/strong>\u201d I also love the cool design, so I\u2019m glad I bought it.<\/p>\n<p>Then he added, \u201cBut\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">Honestly, <strong>I think I preferred the engine sound and feel of the 981.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe 718 Spyder\u2019s engine is very loud at startup and idle, but once you start driving, it suddenly becomes quiet. Then, when you exceed 4,000 rpm, the valves open and the sound gets louder.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s not a smooth, natural crescendo of engine sound like the 981; the tone is completely different. Now, I find myself thinking, \u201c<strong>I want to hear that 981 engine sound again.<\/strong>\u201d (laughs)<br \/>\nAlso, I\u2019m debating whether to install a <strong>valve controller<\/strong>, but while it passes inspections with it installed, you have to remove it to extend the certified warranty (though this may vary by dealer), so that\u2019s a bit of a hassle&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>He also mentioned that because the 718 Spyder has less sound insulation, when it\u2019s quiet and you can\u2019t hear the exhaust, you constantly hear small stones hitting the car and mechanical noises.<\/p>\n<p>He had known and understood these points before buying, but <strong>he said there are many things you only realize once you actually own the car.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"718_Spyder_981_9911\"><\/span>718 Spyder + 981, 991.1?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Regarding the engine sound, although he often finds himself nostalgic for the 981, he said this:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\"><strong>I have absolutely no regrets about switching.<\/strong> The driving and performance of the 718 Spyder are fantastic, the design is cool, and I\u2019m happy I chose bucket seats.<br \/>\nAt the same time, <strong>buying the 718 made me appreciate the living, breathing feel, engine sound, and character of the 981 even more.<\/strong><br \/>\nKnowing both, I\u2019ve come to understand the unique appeal of each. So I\u2019m glad I bought it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28223\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/DSC_1094-800x533-1.jpg\" alt=\"Boxster Black Edition\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That said, he\u2019s now considering adding a 981 Boxster or a 991.1 early model 911 to his garage, even while owning the 718 Spyder (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>However, for base grade 981s, it\u2019s almost impossible to find one with the three options he values most: <strong>PASM, Sport Chrono, and Sport Exhaust.<\/strong> And even when he finds a 991.1 early model he likes, the listing often disappears right after he\u2019s notified, or when he calls, he\u2019s told it\u2019s <strong>\u201calready under negotiation\u201d<\/strong> and it sells immediately.<\/p>\n<p>People must be really busy with work, but their response times are incredibly fast\u2026 lol<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28224\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30f3\u30b7\u30e7\u30c3\u30c8-2018-10-10-15.54.08.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Options\" width=\"683\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Which car suits you and what you want from a car can only really be understood by owning it.<\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t see everything from just a test drive; <strong>it\u2019s only by driving the car in your daily life that you truly get a feel for it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And even if, like this owner, you have mixed feelings after switching, that doesn\u2019t mean you made a mistake\u2014<strong>it helps you choose your next car better and leads you to a car you\u2019ll be even more satisfied with.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Actually, my husband often gets asked for Porsche buying advice these days, and at first he would say things like:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cAh, that option was essential\u2014I should have added it.\u201d \u201cI added this, but it wasn\u2019t necessary.\u201d \u201cSeats are super important!
