The predominantly black interior feels very sporty, and although the interior design is the same as my 992 Carrera Cabriolet, it feels like a completely different car.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the gauges, the GT3 logo immediately catches your eye. It\u2019s no exaggeration to say that many buy the GT3 just to see this logo.<\/p>\n<p>Already, it feels as if the GT3 is urging me, <strong>\u201cHurry up and drive!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28139\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/3EBF0D8B-1850-4618-8F5D-15A303E07502-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) PDK\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Godlike_Handling_of_the_GT3\"><\/span>The Godlike Handling of the GT3<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When I start the engine, the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six roars to life with a \u201cGrrrnn!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the previous GT3\u2019s \u201cVroom! Vroom-vroom!\u201d startup sound, this one is a bit more subdued.<\/p>\n<p>At first glance, the PDK shifter looks like a manual stick. I engage Drive and start moving. <strong>Like the previous model, there\u2019s no creep.<\/strong> I gently rev the throttle and slowly pull out of the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28140\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/E633838B-7B88-42D5-8821-A106B3D38A5B-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) exhaust\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I place great importance on the initial feeling when starting to drive, but so far, the new GT3 hasn\u2019t given me any particular wow factor. I think, <strong>\u201cIt feels similar to the previous model,\u201d<\/strong> as I merge onto the road.<\/p>\n<p>I press the accelerator a bit more and accelerate. Then I\u2019m surprised by the difference compared to the 718 Spyder I had just driven. The 718 Spyder picks up speed effortlessly at 30, 40, 50 km\/h with just a slight throttle input.<\/p>\n<p>But the GT3 is different. <strong>You have to consciously apply more throttle to accelerate; you can\u2019t drive it the same way.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The thin low-end torque and gear ratios seem to say, <strong>\u201cThis is a racing engine.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Approaching the first corner, I turn the steering wheel. My reaction is, <strong>\u201cWhat on earth is this?!\u201d<\/strong> This is no exaggeration\u2014I was genuinely moved. It\u2019s simply amazing. The response and drivability are perfect. Could it get any better?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve never been this impressed by any supercar or sports car I\u2019ve driven before. No flattery\u2014this is truly outstanding. <strong>The balance between performance and driving pleasure is divine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is undoubtedly number one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28146\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/25B035D8-1F67-42EC-B671-D6F3F4CADE47-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) suspension\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just sharp response or great cornering.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It corners ferociously with excellent response, yet there\u2019s zero fear.<\/strong> Unlike some supercars that react 1.2 or 1.3 times more than your input, this car moves exactly as the driver commands.<\/p>\n<p>If you turn the steering slowly, the car follows faithfully; if you turn quickly, it moves with the same speed and feeling. That\u2019s why driving it feels incredible.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t achieved by simply increasing response. <strong>Porsche traditionally includes a slight \u201cbuffer\u201d or \u201cplay\u201d in the steering movement.<\/strong> This makes the driving feel natural while enabling ultra-sharp response.<\/p>\n<p>The previous GT3 also had excellent handling, but at higher speeds in corners, it felt like the steering input was stepped, with a \u201cgrip-grip\u201d sensation mid-corner.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to that, the new GT3 is seamless and continuous. <strong>It offers a more fluid, stepless feel.<\/strong> This makes it even easier to handle. Whether you add or reduce steering input, the front end follows every subtle movement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28126\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/50DC402E-2F63-4EDE-83C7-64CCE3C193AD-1280x852.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) on winding roads\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At this point, pushing the car a little on public roads doesn\u2019t affect weight transfer. <strong>It\u2019s as if there\u2019s a weight in the trunk pressing the front down.<\/strong> The front tires stick to the road and refuse to let go of the asphalt, regardless of bumps or undulations.<\/p>\n<p>The front tires are always firmly pressed to the road, and you can even feel the tire direction through the steering. This is largely thanks to the front suspension being changed to double wishbones, like the racecar 911 RSR.<\/p>\n<p>But what impresses me most about this GT3 is the <strong>engineering that faithfully transmits the tire movements to the driver\u2019s hands on the steering wheel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is true for the regular Carrera and 718 models as well, but the GT3 takes it to another level.<\/p>\n<p>This time, <strong>while steering, I could vividly imagine the exact direction of the tires in my mind.<\/strong> I\u2019ve experienced this before, but never as clearly as in this GT3.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why no corner feels scary. It was like being bewitched.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/992-gt3\/2\/\"><strong>Next page \u2192 The 992 GT3\u2019s Engine and Ride Comfort<\/strong><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Testing the 9000rpm Engine<\/h3>\n<p>I floor the accelerator on a straight. The PDK\u2019s shift speed remains the world\u2019s fastest. It shifts with a \u201cBashun! Bashun!\u201d and the GT3 rockets forward.<\/p>\n<p>All thoughts about low-end torque and gear ratios vanish.<\/p>\n<p>The insane revving speed toward high rpm, the incredible exhaust note, and overwhelming power arrive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is the GT3 engine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28127\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/CE731C33-3EFB-4554-97B5-C8D133072DCE-1280x852.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) gauges\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the sound, it\u2019s definitely loud, but <strong>I think it\u2019s a bit quieter than the previous model.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, the tone and quality are excellent. Especially from engine start to low rpm, there\u2019s no unnatural volume control. The previous GT3 used exhaust valves to comply with noise regulations, so you couldn\u2019t hear the true sound below 4000 rpm.<\/p>\n<p>But <strong>the new GT3 has variable valve control that opens and closes seamlessly.<\/strong> Perhaps because of this, there\u2019s no sudden quietness when driving starts; the sound gradually grows louder in proportion to speed and rpm, making driving very enjoyable. Even if the volume is somewhat subdued, the driving pleasure increases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I prefer the sound quality and volume of this new GT3 over the previous one.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28124\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/BDEFA028-9F10-4BA0-BFC5-62FDD84CEDCF-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992)\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">GT3 Ride Comfort<\/h3>\n<p>During the test drive, I had a friend in the passenger seat. Later, they told me, <strong>\u201cYou really drive fast!\u201d<\/strong> But I didn\u2019t feel like I was driving fast at all. I thought I was driving carefully, but apparently, the passenger didn\u2019t feel that way.<\/p>\n<p>Later, we switched seats. My friend, who usually drives carefully and calmly, took the wheel. But with the GT3, it was different.<\/p>\n<p>Like me, <strong>they thought they were driving normally, but I, sitting in the passenger seat, had my smartphone flying out of my hand from lateral G-forces, and my body was constantly shaken.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One notable characteristic of this GT3 is that <strong>the ride comfort differs drastically between the driver\u2019s and passenger\u2019s seats.<\/strong> I\u2019ve never known a car with such a difference.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28125\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/348D26C4-1858-43D7-8DFD-C1D878408DC7-1280x852.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) side view showing driving scene\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On winding roads, the driver\u2019s seat is not uncomfortable and is quite pleasant, but that\u2019s only the driver\u2019s side. <strong>The passenger seat is relentlessly hit by lateral G-forces.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even without braking, the GT3 easily corners, so the pace tends to pick up.<\/p>\n<p>Combined with the intense acceleration and overwhelming stopping power of the PCCB brakes, the passenger who isn\u2019t steering is inevitably shaken.<\/p>\n<p>This car should never be used as a date car. I understand the urge to brag, <strong>\u201cI bought a GT3! Isn\u2019t it amazing?\u201d<\/strong> to a woman, but that\u2019s just male ego. Almost no woman can truly appreciate the GT3\u2019s qualities from the passenger seat.<\/p>\n<p>Even I disliked sitting in the passenger seat, so any woman forced to ride there would surely hate it. And if she sees the GT3\u2019s wing, I can already imagine her saying, <strong>\u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing\u2014don\u2019t bring it anymore!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some might say, \u201cI\u2019ll drive gently, so it\u2019s fine,\u201d but the GT3 won\u2019t allow that easily. It constantly urges, <strong>\u201cDrive faster! Step on the gas!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And because it\u2019s so thrilling and fast, you unconsciously start cornering at a high pace.<\/p>\n<p>The GT3 is a toy for car enthusiasts. It\u2019s a tool to secretly grin while enjoying winding roads or circuits alone.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28142\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/BA85DFCD-18AE-4BD3-B18B-3A3593170D86-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) interior\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By the way, <strong>I asked an owner about ride comfort in town, and their one-word answer was \u201chard!\u201d<\/strong> This owner has owned many Porsches from the 964 to the 992 and 718, but said they wouldn\u2019t want to drive this GT3 long distances.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t try city driving myself, so I can\u2019t say for sure, but I don\u2019t think the harshness or sharp impacts are that bad. The body rigidity is top-notch, and the suspension moves very well, so you rarely feel cheap rattles or jolts. However, the overall vibration seems greater.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to the previous model, it\u2019s somewhat stiffer, and <strong>it\u2019s understandable to describe it as \u201cfirm\u201d or \u201cspartan.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">GT3 Overall Impression<\/h3>\n<p>Compared to the 992 Carrera models, <strong>the GT3 is like the \u201cChar\u2019s Custom 911\u201d in Gundam terms.<\/strong> Of course, it\u2019s not literally three times faster or more capable, but it feels that different.<\/p>\n<p>Everything from the engine to the chassis is different, but what stands out most is the overwhelming chassis performance, handling, and drivability. This is a major evolution even compared to the previous GT3.<\/p>\n<p>What about the engine? <strong>Honestly, my impression is that it\u2019s almost the same as the previous model.<\/strong> At least, I didn\u2019t feel a clear difference in power or engine character. That might sound like the engine is lacking, but the previous one was so excellent that it seems they basically carried it over.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-28144\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/D646DA59-0414-4DA8-B930-AF9E50B179D0-1280x853.jpeg\" alt=\"New Porsche 911 GT3 (992) rear emblem\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After driving the new GT3, I personally want one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But I don\u2019t intend to buy it.<\/strong> Its performance is so extreme that it can\u2019t be fully enjoyed on public roads. I tell this to many people who ask about buying a GT3, but it\u2019s hard for them to understand until they experience it themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Some say, <strong>\u201cI\u2019ll just drive slowly and enjoy it,\u201d or \u201cI\u2019ll only push it occasionally on empty roads.\u201d<\/strong> But it\u2019s not that simple. This car is too deep and full of charm for such shallow satisfaction. For those people, I definitely recommend buying one. Resale value should remain good for the time being, and if you get the chance, it\u2019s a purchase you won\u2019t regret.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, <strong>if you buy a GT3, please take it to a circuit at least once.<\/strong> Whether a beginner\u2019s track day or any event, forget about lap times or rankings and unleash its power to your heart\u2019s content. That\u2019s when you\u2019ll truly appreciate this car\u2019s charm and even feel the price of over 23 million yen is a bargain.
