Unleashing Porsche\u2019s Performance<\/h3>\n

Everyone has their own reason for buying a Porsche.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s a car I admired since I was a kid, and I always wanted to own one when I grew up.\u201d
\n\u201cI was drawn to its performance after test driving it.\u201d
\n\u201cI wanted to experience driving a sports car.\u201d
\n\u201cI was looking for a car to enjoy drives with my family.\u201d <\/p>\n

And so on.<\/p>\n

However, no matter the reason for purchasing a Porsche, it\u2019s quite difficult to truly unleash a Porsche\u2019s performance and genuinely enjoy its driving on typical Japanese public roads.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Porsche is a car that can deliver incredible performance even when you take a stock production model straight to the circuit<\/strong>, so it\u2019s true that \u201cyou can experience that driving on a racetrack\u201d\u2026 but you can\u2019t go to the circuit that often, right?<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

That said, I think most owners probably feel, \u201cIt\u2019s fine to just enjoy driving normally without pushing the Porsche to its limits<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

But for people like my husband, who once said he drove 3,000 km on a single touring trip and still felt like he hadn\u2019t driven enough, driving is a passion greater than even three meals a day. For them, enjoying Porsche\u2019s driving on roads where its performance can be fully expressed<\/strong> is very important, and they are constantly on the lookout for information about public roads where they can drive comfortably and enjoyably.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

My husband often says things like this: <\/p>\n

With the 992 Cabriolet or the 964, I can drive slowly even on roads with a bit more traffic or not-so-great surfaces and still be okay… but with the Boxster GTS (981) or the GT3 I used to own, I really feel the urge to \u201clet it run lively.\u201d
\nAt low speeds, the ride can be quite stiff, and if I keep the engine at low revs, the engine sounds like the car is \u201cgetting irritated,\u201d which builds up stress.
\nBecause I know the exhilarating, smooth engine sound at high revs, it makes me feel that way even more.
\nSo if I go driving without checking the roads beforehand, I end up feeling like, \u201cI went all that way but came back more stressed.\u201d
\nIn that case, I think I would have been better off driving a comfortable luxury sedan instead of a Porsche.<\/p>\n

For driving enthusiasts like my husband, going for a drive isn\u2019t about \u201cenjoying the scenery\u201d or \u201csoaking in the atmosphere\u201d \u2014 those come second. What really matters is whether the road is enjoyable and feels good to drive on.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finding Roads Where You Can Drive Comfortably in a Porsche<\/h3>\n

My husband, who is crazy about driving, often says this:<\/p>\n

Typical town information magazines\u2019 \u201cdrive courses\u201d are not helpful.<\/strong> If you blindly follow titles like \u201cSelected Drive Courses in XX Area\u201d and go out driving, it will be a disaster.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because the drive courses featured in those magazines are \u201cdrive date courses<\/strong>,\u201d focusing on destinations like restaurants or night views, connected by ordinary roads.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not the pure \u201cdrive courses\u201d my husband is looking for (which makes sense, haha).<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

And he says this: <\/p>\n

For people who want to enjoy chatting with family or a partner while driving and visit restaurants or souvenir shops, town magazines\u2019 drive courses are very useful.
\nBut for someone like me, who is crazy about driving, \u201cthe destination doesn\u2019t matter; the purpose of the drive is to enjoy driving on great roads.\u201d
\nIf you blindly follow town magazine drive courses, you\u2019ll face heavy traffic and poor roads, and have a bad experience.
\nThose courses are no good for people like me. So to really find good roads, you have to search for them yourself, which is tough because information is scarce.<\/p>\n

So how does my husband usually find good roads? He uses the \u201cTouring Mapple<\/strong>\u201d for bikers, which has appeared many times on this blog.<\/p>\n

\"Touring<\/p>\n

Apparently, it has been published for over 30 years and continues to receive passionate support from riders as a motorcycle touring map. <\/p>\n

Among the touring books generally available, Touring Mapple is the only one that\u2019s really useful. Riders purely want to enjoy riding their bikes comfortably.
\nThey don\u2019t ride just to visit souvenir shops or have a delicious lunch.
\nThat\u2019s why Touring Mapple focuses on the roads themselves, introducing many roads that are simply fun to ride on.<\/strong>
\nIn that sense, I often check blogs by bikers and try the roads they introduce, and I really think, \u201cIf you want to truly enjoy Porsche driving, asking bikers is a great idea.<\/strong>\u201d
\nOf course, some roads accessible by bike aren\u2019t passable by car, so you have to be careful.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what he says.<\/p>\n

Among those, my husband respects and repeatedly reads the blog of wata, a Porsche Boxster owner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Among Porsche owners my husband knows, wata is by far the most passionate driver and knows many great roads.<\/p>\n

Sometimes when my husband watches wata\u2019s touring videos, I watch with him and say, \u201cHaven\u2019t you seen this before?\u201d and he casually replies, \u201cYeah, I have,\u201d while watching from start to finish again, haha.<\/p>\n

He really loves it (laughs).<\/p>\n

My husband says: <\/p>\n

Wata\u2019s videos and blog are really helpful. And wata always carries Touring Mapple on his tours.<\/strong> He knows many great roads, and when I\u2019m stuck, I just check his blog and somehow manage, haha.<\/p>\n

On this blog, whenever my husband goes touring<\/a>, I share the route on Google Maps. For driving enthusiasts like him (though probably a very small number, haha), I hope this information is even a little helpful.<\/p>\n
