Choosing the Swift Sport Over Porsche<\/h3>\n

Currently, our household has several Porsches: a Boxster GTS (981), 911s (964, 991, 992), and a Cayenne<\/strong>. However, since our home parking space only fits two cars, we usually park them separately\u2014some near the station, others near my husband\u2019s workplace\u2014and he regularly rotates which ones are parked at home.<\/p>\n

As for me, I drive my beloved Swift Sport wherever I go. I almost never take a Porsche.<\/p>\n

\"Suzuki<\/p>\n

Seeing this, my husband often says things like:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Boxster\u2019s in the driveway now, why don\u2019t you take it for a spin?\u201d
\n\u201cTry the GT3 (when we had it)! How about a drive on the Royu Driveway?\u201d
\n\u201cYou haven\u2019t driven the 991 GTS since delivery\u2014you can take it anytime, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

But since I never take him up on these offers, he sometimes says with a disappointed tone:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy not?! It\u2019s such a waste to have such freedom to drive a Porsche and not use it… If it were me, I\u2019d be driving it every day. It\u2019s unthinkable for a car lover.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

Why do I avoid driving the Porsches so much? At the time, I thought, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s because the kids were still small and parenting was tough<\/strong>,\u201d or \u201cI only go to the local supermarket or pick up the kids from kindergarten, so taking out a Porsche feels like overkill<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

But recently, while chatting with my husband on Twitter Spaces, the mystery was finally solved.<\/a><\/p>\n

Our Precious Porsches<\/h3>\n

The reason I don\u2019t drive our Porsches is because \u201cmy husband cherishes them like his life depends on it<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

During that conversation, when he asked me again, \u201cWhy do you stubbornly avoid driving the Porsches even though they\u2019re right here at home?<\/strong>\u201d I answered:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, if I drove the Porsches that you care for so deeply and accidentally scratched or damaged one, that would be a huge problem. I only drive short distances nearby, so there\u2019s no need for me to take that risk. That\u2019s why I choose not to drive them.\u201d<\/p>\n

He replied, \u201cI see… that might be the biggest reason you haven\u2019t driven our Porsches until now.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

And indeed, that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

My husband truly treasures his cars. He loves driving and exploring various roads, often getting the cars dirty, but he immediately washes them himself to keep them spotless.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s careful when getting in and out, making sure not to scuff the outer side bolsters of the driver\u2019s seat, always closing the doors by firmly holding the handle, and keeps the interior immaculate.<\/p>\n

Watching him, it\u2019s clear these are precious cars he earned through his own hard work.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, I\u2019m unfortunately not the type to treat cars so carefully.<\/p>\n

I love my Swift Sport, but it\u2019s parked outdoors and is almost always dirty. The interior is littered with fallen leaves and sand, and the dashboard is constantly dusty from the kids\u2019 sandy shoes.<\/p>\n

I do wipe it down occasionally, but mostly it\u2019s just messy. (Not something to brag about\u2026)<\/p>\n

Even though it\u2019s my car, I\u2019m just not bothered by that kind of thing.<\/p>\n

\"Suzuki<\/p>\n

So, given how careless I am with cars, I feel hesitant to drive the Porsches that my husband treasures so much.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If I were in his shoes, I wouldn\u2019t feel good either if someone treated something I cared about roughly.<\/p>\n

The Panamera we once had was a different story\u2014I loved driving it almost every day because my husband bought it as a \u201cfamily car, not just a hobby car,\u201d so I felt comfortable using it often.<\/p>\n

Someday, My Own Porsche<\/h3>\n

During that Twitter Spaces talk, my husband said to me:<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve often said you want to \u201cbuy things yourself\u201d and \u201cdo things on your own.\u201d You don\u2019t like being given things, and you have a bit of a masculine streak… I think that\u2019s a bit different from most wives.<\/p>\n

I guess I do have a somewhat tomboyish, un-cutesy personality (laughs).<\/p>\n

I grew up with fairly strict parents. Even if I said, \u201cAll my friends have this,\u201d I was rarely allowed to have it.<\/p>\n

When I was in middle school, everyone had pagers, and I asked my dad for one, but he refused. I had to present a detailed explanation of why I wanted it and what benefits it would bring, sign a contract, and only then was I allowed to get one\u2014by which time everyone was already switching to PHS phones (lol).<\/p>\n

So, once I was in college, I worked many part-time jobs to create a situation where I could say, \u201cI\u2019m paying for this myself, so no complaints!\u201d I funded everything I wanted with my own money.<\/p>\n

I always thought, \u201cI want to become a working adult quickly, earn a lot, and be free to do what I want.\u201d<\/p>\n

Growing up like that, from the moment I started this blog, I set a goal to \u201cbuy my own Porsche someday.\u201d Maybe subconsciously, I wanted to create an environment where I could freely and confidently drive a Porsche I bought with my own money.<\/p>\n
