Until then, the <strong>top of my list for ride comfort was the &#8220;971 Panamera&#8221;<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(though I haven\u2019t driven that many cars to begin with)<\/span>, but the new Cayenne felt several times more comfortable.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"jUM6LpqtZj\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/new-cayyenn-testdrive-impression\/\">\u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7 \u65b0\u578b\u30ab\u30a4\u30a8\u30f3 \u8a66\u4e57\u30ec\u30d3\u30e5\u30fc<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;\u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7 \u65b0\u578b\u30ab\u30a4\u30a8\u30f3 \u8a66\u4e57\u30ec\u30d3\u30e5\u30fc&#8221; &#8212; \u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f - \u30aa\u30fc\u30ca\u30fc\u30ba\u30d6\u30ed\u30b0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/new-cayyenn-testdrive-impression\/embed\/#?secret=jUM6LpqtZj\" data-secret=\"jUM6LpqtZj\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u2026or rather, it was in a league of its own.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5336 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_8240-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"New Cayenne\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>How is the ride so good? It\u2019s <strong>\u201cfirm in the suspension, yet incredibly soft and smooth\u201d<\/strong>, with hardly any sensation of bumps or shocks from the road, as if gliding effortlessly on rails. Yet it\u2019s not floaty; you still feel firmly connected to the road.<\/p>\n<p>The rear seats were also very comfortable. I had always thought that <strong>\u201cthe rear seats of SUVs feel like you\u2019re riding a bus, swaying around\u201d<\/strong>, but that was not the case at all. I actually thought, \u201cIt\u2019s totally fine to take long tours sitting in the back seat!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the ride comfort of the base model new Cayenne (with coil springs, no PASM), Matsutoya-san said this in his test drive review on Car Graphic TV:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">The moment you start driving, you realize it\u2019s a luxury car. The suspension feels so supple, it\u2019s hard to believe it\u2019s running on such wide tires. I\u2019m not sure if it\u2019s right to say it\u2019s un-Porsche-like, but I wonder if it\u2019s okay to make it this luxurious and comfortable. (Omitted) <strong>It\u2019s amazing how you can be fooled into thinking it has air suspension\u2026<\/strong> It\u2019s a strange feeling. It\u2019s a Porsche, right? It doesn\u2019t have air suspension, yet the ride is like that.<\/p>\n<p>If even Matsutoya-san says this, the ride comfort of the new Cayenne must be truly exceptional.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">The Cayenne I Can\u2019t Forget<\/h3>\n<p>Since test-driving the new Cayenne, a bit of a problem has arisen at home. <strong>\u201cCars I used to think had good ride comfort now feel uncomfortable.\u201d<\/strong> Especially our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/about-vw-golf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Volkswagen Golf 7<\/a>. It\u2019s still a great car, but whereas before I sometimes thought, <strong>\u201cIf we have the Golf, do we really need a Panamera?\u201d<\/strong>, now I find myself wondering, \u201cWait, was it always this bumpy? Did we change the tire pressure?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1068 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_4517-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen Golf\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Even with the Panamera, while the ride isn\u2019t bad at all, sometimes I catch myself thinking <strong>\u201cThe smoothness just can\u2019t compare to the Cayenne.\u201d<\/strong> In hindsight, maybe I shouldn\u2019t have test-driven the new Cayenne. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(\u2026but that\u2019s probably not true)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The other day, my husband said this:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">After riding the new Cayenne and being amazed by its ride comfort, my standards for car comfort have changed drastically. I used to think, \u201cPanamera and Boxster have completely different ride comfort and belong to totally different categories,\u201d but after driving the new Cayenne, I feel like \u201cPanamera is also a sports car, in the same category as the Boxster.\u201d I can\u2019t find a good analogy though.<\/p>\n<p>I asked, \u201cIs it like thinking 500-yen meat and 2,000-yen meat are totally different, but after eating 10,000-yen meat, you realize 500 and 2,000 yen are basically the same? <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Though I\u2019ve never eaten such expensive meat)<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Hmm, I don\u2019t really get that analogy either, but yeah, something like that.<\/p>\n<p>He said (-_-) <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Really?)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5346 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_8235-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"New Cayenne\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since then, my husband can\u2019t help but compare every other car\u2019s ride comfort to the Cayenne\u2019s, and he just can\u2019t forget it.
