The reason I started this blog was a certain comment from my husband. At that time, we had a 970 Panamera Edition at home, and every time I drove it, I was so impressed by how wonderful it was that I kept sending emails to my husband at work about \u201cjust how amazing the Panamera is.\u201d<\/strong> (I had no one else to share this with\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n

One day, I got this reply from him:<\/p>\n

Yeah, I get it. It\u2019s that kind of car. If you like the Panamera that much, why don\u2019t you just start a blog about it? lol<\/p>\n

\u201cNo way, who\u2019d be interested? (-_-)<\/span>(Sounds like Yanagibson)<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2026That\u2019s what I thought, but at the time, one of my goals was \u201cto buy a Panamera GTS with my own money someday,\u201d<\/strong> so I decided, \u201cWell, maybe I\u2019ll just write like I\u2019m talking to myself,\u201d and started this blog casually. That was June 2017.<\/p>\n

A Luxurious Miscalculation\u2026<\/h3>\n

Later, in October 2017, we decided to replace the 970 Panamera Edition with a 971 Panamera. Initially, we talked about \u201cmaybe just the 4S, 4E Hybrid, or even the standard model\u2026\u201d<\/strong> But right after placing the order, there was a big twist when my husband said,<\/p>\n

\u201cAlright then. If it\u2019s come to this, let\u2019s just go all the way to the Turbo (\uffe3\u30fc\uffe3)!\u201d<\/p>\n

and he made up his mind lol. The Panamera Turbo came home with us. After driving the Panamera Turbo and being amazed by its brilliance, I gradually started to question something within myself.<\/p>\n

Having driven the Panamera and then the Panamera Turbo, and still aiming to buy the Panamera GTS myself\u2026 does that really make sense\u2026?<\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s not that it doesn\u2019t make sense, but when I drove the 970 Panamera Edition, I thought \u201cIf this is already so amazing, how incredible must the Panamera GTS be!?\u201d<\/strong> and that\u2019s why I wanted to buy the GTS myself. But this was a luxurious miscalculation\u2026 because before that, I had already discovered the even higher-level Turbo\u2026<\/p>\n

Panamera GTS Launch!<\/h3>\n

And just recently, the Panamera GTS was announced.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2026So, no need to buy the GTS\u2026 (-_-)<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, I think the Panamera GTS is amazing too, and it must have its own unique charm. If I test drive it, I might think \u201cI want it!\u201d<\/strong> But now that I know the Panamera Turbo, I don\u2019t think I\u2019d feel that \u201cmind-blowing fresh surprise.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

That said, I still want to achieve my goal of \u201cbuying a Porsche myself,\u201d<\/strong> so recently I went back to zero and imagined freely without budget constraints what I would want now. After thinking it through, I arrived at\u2026 \u201cthe 911 Targa.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The History of the Targa and Why I Want It<\/h3>\n

The Targa is a 911 variant that debuted at the 1965 Frankfurt Motor Show. Unlike the 911 Cabriolet, it features a semi-convertible body style.<\/p>\n

The current 991 Targa is a modern reinterpretation that almost perfectly captures the original Targa\u2019s spirit, and it looks very cool.<\/p>\n

By the way, I didn\u2019t know much about why the Targa was created, but apparently it was because \u201cin the 1970s, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) banned convertibles with large open roofs for occupant safety in rollovers<\/strong>(They said they would ban it, but in the end, maybe they didn\u2019t?)<\/span>,\u201d<\/strong> which triggered the Targa\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

At that time, North America was a huge market for open sports cars, so the 911 Targa was introduced as a solution to this regulation. Structurally, the Targa\u2019s \u201cremaining roof section acts as a roll bar to protect occupants even if the car rolls over with the roof open,\u201d<\/strong> allowing it to meet DOT safety requirements.

Wow, I had no idea there was such a background! (\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2026That was a long introduction, but why did I, <\/p>\n

\u2022 as a woman,
\n\u2022 not very confident in my driving skills,
\n\u2022 yet still wanting to enjoy driving,<\/p>\n

come to the conclusion that I want a 911 Targa? Here are my reasons. (I wonder if anyone\u2019s interested in this\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n

1 Because the Roof Opens<\/h4>\n

Before the Boxster GTS came to our home, I thought \u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing to drive a convertible.\u201d<\/strong> When I saw convertibles in town, they caught my eye because they\u2019re rare, and I couldn\u2019t help but look at not just the car but also who was driving.<\/p>\n

Usually, it\u2019s \u201cstylish gentlemen or ladies wearing sunglasses\u201d<\/strong> behind the wheel, but I\u2019m not a stylish lady who looks good in sunglasses, and like my husband, I don\u2019t like attracting attention or standing out, so I never wanted to drive one myself.<\/p>\n

However, when I actually opened the Boxster\u2019s roof and drove on winding roads and the Royu Driveway, the feeling was incredible\u2026 Feeling the seasons, becoming one with the wind while driving is an experience a sunroof can never provide.<\/strong> That\u2019s why if I were to buy a car myself, I\u2019d want one with an opening roof.<\/p>\n

2 Because It\u2019s All-Wheel Drive<\/h4>\n

I think modern 911s, even though they\u2019re rear-engine, have more than enough stability.<\/strong> When I test drove a 991, I thought \u201cWow, this is so much fun! Have I gotten better at driving!?\u201d<\/strong> It was no problem on mountain roads or anywhere else. But since I often drive on highways and sometimes in heavy rain, I prefer a car with higher stability that lets me drive safely without worrying about my skills. (That WET mode introduced in the 992 sounds interesting, though.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Sure, the Targa is heavier, which might be a downside for a sports car where weight reduction is key, but even the massive Panamera weighing over 2 tons drives sportily, so the Targa should be totally fine lol.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3 The Aluminum Targa Bar<\/h4>\n

This design seems to have mixed opinions, but I like the Targa bar\u2019s design. I think it looks cool as an accent. Also, although the aluminum Targa bar was discontinued in the 993, 996, and 997 models, it was revived in the 991, which makes me think Porsche considers \u201cthis design the true hallmark of the Targa.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

4 Because You Rarely See Them in Town<\/h4>\n

If you want AWD and an open roof, some might say \u201cWhy not just get a 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet instead of a Targa?\u201d<\/strong> But the reason I like the Targa is because \u201cyou hardly ever see one in town.\u201d<\/strong> In fact, I\u2019ve only seen a Targa driving around town once or twice.<\/p>\n

I prefer cars that aren\u2019t seen everywhere rather than ones that are common (which is also why I like the Panamera more than the S-Class),<\/span> so in that sense, the Targa is super rare and very appealing.<\/p>\n

Because it\u2019s so rare, it apparently doesn\u2019t come into dealerships very often either. Our Porsche dealer\u2019s Mr. H said, \u201cTargas are allocated far less than even the GT3!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wow, that few\u2026 (\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f))<\/p>\n

I Want a Targa!<\/h3>\n

So, for now, the one I want to buy myself is a \u201cbright red body with a black roof Targa.\u201d<\/strong> (Maybe not great for long tours with the kids though.)<\/span><\/p>\n

I imagine, \u201cHow stylish and cool would the 992 Targa design be when it comes out?\u201d<\/p>\n

But a bright red Targa would really stand out (*_*)!<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure if I want to stand out or not, but whatever the case, I\u2019ll do my best to achieve this goal!<\/p>\n
