My husband received a call from an imported car dealer <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(not Porsche)<\/span> inviting him to <strong>\u201ccome for a test drive\u201d<\/strong>. When he went for the test drive, he was seated at a table, and when the salesperson stepped away to get some materials, a well-dressed man in his 40s sat near my husband\u2019s table.<\/p>\n<p>My husband thought, <strong>\u201cHe looks very put-together. Maybe an executive at some famous company?\u201d<\/strong> But the man looked quite unhappy.<\/p>\n<p>Then the man\u2019s salesperson came over, and the man spoke up immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u201cYou see, I recently received a letter at home. It said that the headquarters had announced a defect in the model I purchased. The letter included an explanation and an apology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u201cIf there was a defect, why didn\u2019t you call me instead of just sending a letter? This wasn\u2019t a cheap purchase. Handling it with just a letter seems unacceptable. At least a phone call would have been appropriate, and that\u2019s why I came here today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The salesperson replied,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u201cWe apologize. However, as explained in the letter, it was determined that there is no issue with the Japan-spec cars, so we sent the letter only. Therefore, there is no defect with your car, so please rest assured.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The man responded,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u201cI understand that. But still, a phone call would have been nice. I\u2019m not angry; I just wish you had told me verbally, even just a word. That\u2019s what I\u2019m saying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While this exchange was happening, my husband\u2019s own salesperson returned to the table, but <strong>my husband couldn\u2019t stop paying attention to the conversation between the man and the salesperson, and he didn\u2019t hear a word of the car explanation afterward (laughs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, the conversation between the man and the salesperson remained at a standstill. We don\u2019t know if the man was satisfied, but he left the dealer.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Customers_Who_Dont_Get_Calls_from_the_Dealer\"><\/span>Customers Who Don\u2019t Get Calls from the Dealer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When my husband came home that day, he said, <strong>\u201cI witnessed an interesting scene at the dealer earlier,\u201d<\/strong> and shared the story above.<\/p>\n<p>I said, \u201cWell, it\u2019s not a cheap purchase, so I can understand wanting a phone call\u2026 but the salesperson\u2019s response seems counterproductive. Still, is it really something worth going to the dealer over?\u201d My husband replied,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">It\u2019s true, it\u2019s an expensive car, and a phone call would have been kinder. But <strong>I think customers who say things like that are the ones who don\u2019t get calls from the dealer.<\/strong> On the other hand, customers who do get calls from the dealer don\u2019t say things like that\u2014they seem more relaxed, bigger-hearted\u2026 their perspective is different. I think this shows up in their work too. I\u2019ve seen people at many levels, and the so-called top-tier people don\u2019t say things like that. It\u2019s the old saying, \u201cWealthy people don\u2019t quarrel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At that moment, I thought, \u201cThat makes sense,\u201d and just recently I came across an article online titled <strong>\u201cWhat Kind of Customers Do Salespeople Dislike?\u201d<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I wonder why that made me nervous)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Kind_of_Customers_Do_Dealers_Dislike\"><\/span>What Kind of Customers Do Dealers Dislike?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The article was an interview with a top salesperson at an imported car dealer, and it had some eye-opening points.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cExpecting the dealer to handle delivery and pickup as a given,\u201d \u201ccomplaining about loaner cars,\u201d \u201cnot considering our convenience at all,\u201d \u201cnot trusting the salesperson or dealer in the first place,\u201d and so on. <strong>These are customers who still believe \u2018the customer is god\u2019 without question or act as if it\u2019s their right.<\/strong> Customers who impose their own convenience or fixed ideas tend to be disliked at any dealer.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Although things have improved compared to before, imported cars still aren\u2019t free from breakdowns. A common complaint from customers switching from Japanese cars is, <strong>\u201cHow can a more expensive, better car break down more than my previous \u25cf\u25cf\u25cf\u25cf (Japanese car model)?\u201d<\/strong> We understand the frustration, but\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>The truth is, our real relationship with customers starts after delivery. The negotiation phase is like a \u201ccourtship period.\u201d <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(omitted)<\/span> We are often impressed by the thoughtful care shown by socially prominent customers. These customers rarely make unreasonable demands. Price negotiations usually conclude smoothly in one or two rounds. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(omitted)<\/span> <strong>They are what you\u2019d call \u201chighly skilled communicators.\u201d That\u2019s why they win people over and have achieved their current status.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">\uff0a<a href=\"https:\/\/crediblecar.life\/life\/real-back-situation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Top Imported Car Salesperson Reveals \u201cHonest Truths and Behind-the-Scenes\u201d<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hmm, very enlightening.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7428 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_9095-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When there\u2019s a defect, I\u2019m not saying you should just endure it quietly. If something\u2019s wrong, you should speak up. But <strong>\u201cacting high and mighty just because you\u2019re a customer\u201d<\/strong> or <strong>\u201ctaking up more of someone\u2019s valuable time than necessary\u201d<\/strong> feels off to me.<\/p>\n<p>Salespeople and customers are basically people dealing with people, so respectful and considerate communication is necessary. If mutual trust and a good relationship develop, the dealer might even bring better offers your way.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, when asked <strong>\u201cWhat kind of customers are good for dealer salespeople?\u201d<\/strong>, the top salesperson in the article said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">Those who don\u2019t stray to other brands and even introduce friends. I hope to see more customers like that, and to share the appeal of imported cars with more people.
