These were photos from about four years ago when <strong>my husband and I went on our honeymoon to Germany<\/strong>. As you might have guessed&#8230; it was to &#8220;<strong>rent a Porsche, drive it on the Autobahn, and visit as many German car museums as possible<\/strong>,&#8221; haha.<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Here\u2019s a rough idea of the locations of each museum.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8014\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/museummap-800x482.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"482\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At that time, my husband hadn\u2019t yet bought a Porsche, so he was really looking forward to driving one in its home country and had already reserved a Boxster in advance.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, I was barely interested in Porsches or cars at all back then, and my only thoughts were &#8220;<strong>I want to eat authentic Frankfurt sausages<\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong>I want to visit Neuschwanstein Castle<\/strong>,&#8221; as I boarded the plane.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7975\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0478-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When we arrived at Frankfurt Airport and went to the rental car counter, the staff dropped a bombshell:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe Boxster is all rented out and unavailable, but we do have a 911. What do you want to do?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I almost blurted out, \u201cHey, that\u2019s way too casual\u2014what was the point of the reservation then? (-_-)\u201d but my husband next to me was<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cSeriously?! No way! Driving a 911 as my partner in Germany\u2014what a happy surprise!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>and was absolutely thrilled. After completing the paperwork, the much-anticipated 911 Carrera 4S appeared before us.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7971\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0095-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My husband was beyond excited\u2014<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I think he even said, \u201cAnd it\u2019s a 4S!\u201d or something like that)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7972\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0096-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He immediately got into the driver\u2019s seat, started the engine, and was just buzzing with excitement. Meanwhile, I was looking at him with a cool, detached gaze, wondering &#8220;<strong>What\u2019s got him so excited&#8230;?<\/strong>&#8220;<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Sorry, haha)<\/span>. Unfortunately, I barely remember the ride quality, engine sound, or driving feel of that 911. The most memorable thing from the trip was how incredibly delicious the authentic Frankfurt sausages were.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7969\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0177-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(We pretty much ate Frankfurt sausages for lunch every day.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>After leaving the airport in the 911 Carrera 4S, we toured Frankfurt and stayed overnight,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7976\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0008-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7983\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/10730995_729094327160975_8970583954167431515_n-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and the next morning, we drove on the Autobahn toward Stuttgart.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7977\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0087-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Stuttgart is the holy ground for Porsche fans, home to the Porsche headquarters and Porsche Museum. This is the famous exterior of the Porsche headquarters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7980\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0046-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In front of the museum, there were Porsches available for test drives.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7981\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0045-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Inside, the museum was bright, clean, and simple with a white theme.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7982\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0041-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8017\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0568-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If I could go back now, I\u2019d &#8220;<strong>take my time to carefully admire each legendary car, take plenty of photos with a DSLR, and fully enjoy every moment<\/strong>.&#8221; But back then, having no interest in Porsche, I was just &#8220;<strong>quickly passing by the legendary cars, resting on benches, and waiting for my husband<\/strong>.&#8221; Looking back, there were so many iconic cars like the Carrera GT,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7984\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/10511082_10205079429807313_8051859512171642812_n-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7986\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0032-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p>the 911 GT1,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7987\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0030-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7985\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/10696467_10205079430887340_2802535120362492674_n-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and many other legendary cars on display,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7989\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0015-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7990\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0038-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7991\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC_0004-800x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"530\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and it was truly a missed opportunity.<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I was only thinking about how many chocolates to buy as souvenirs and what to have for dinner.)<\/span> Later, after I became a Porsche fan, I asked my husband, &#8220;<strong>Why didn\u2019t you tell me to really look at the legendary cars when we visited the Porsche Museum in Germany?!<\/strong>&#8221; and he replied,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cI told you many times, but you just showed no interest and walked right past them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ah, you silly guy (-_-).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Mercedes-Benz Museum<\/h3>\n<p>Next, we visited the <strong>Mercedes-Benz Museum<\/strong>, just a stone\u2019s throw from the Porsche Museum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7995\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0017-600x800.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the Porsche Museum felt like &#8220;<em>cars are the stars, showcasing legendary vehicles<\/em>,&#8221; I had imagined seeing the majestic castle views often seen on postcards and TV&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2O2A2932-800x490.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"490\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">*Image source: <a href=\"https:\/\/osmo-edel.jp\/column\/1775-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neuschwanstein Castle: The Romantic Lord\u2019s Sad Story<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>But this was the view we actually got that day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8001\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0403-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0413-600x800.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Couldn\u2019t see a thing&#8230; (*_*)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Looking back, my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/2018\/06\/16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cfog lady\u201d streak<\/a> had already started around then<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(actually, it probably began even earlier)<\/span>, but at the time we didn\u2019t realize it and just thought, &#8220;<strong>What a shame after coming all this way&#8230;<\/strong>&#8221; and left the castle.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Audi Museum<\/h3>\n<p>After sightseeing and driving along the Romantic Road, we next headed to the Audi Museum in Ingolstadt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8004\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0238-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8005\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0266-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Compared to Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, the Audi Museum was simpler, smaller in scale and exhibition space, and had fewer tourists.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8008\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0239-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Still, classic and legendary cars were neatly lined up,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8006\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0255-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8009\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0256-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and from the second floor overlooking the atrium, we could watch the delivery of new cars on the first floor, which was quite fun.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8010\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0262-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The sight of a man driving a brand-new Audi, waving happily to everyone around him<\/strong> made us feel very happy too.<\/p>\n<p>The Audi Museum also offers factory tours, which my husband was eager to join, but since the tour time required a long wait, I said \u201cNo thanks,\u201d and we didn\u2019t go. Looking back, I really feel sorry about that.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">BMW Museum<\/h3>\n<p>Next, we headed to the <strong>BMW Museum in Munich<\/strong>. The cityscape of Munich was full of historic buildings and very beautiful. Personally, I liked it even more than Frankfurt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8019\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0385-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8018\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0365-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8020\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0401-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also, it was refreshing to see taxis that were Mercedes-Benz,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8021\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0381-600x800.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and there were people surfing in the river,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8022\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_0590-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>making it a very interesting city (laughs). Still, all the photos show gloomy, cloudy skies. I really wish something could be done about my rain and fog luck (-_-).<\/p>\n<p>From the hotel where we stayed, we somehow didn\u2019t use the Porsche to get to the BMW Museum but took the train and walked.
