The other day, my husband told me about a Porsche-owning doctor he once met who said this:<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce, when I drove my Mercedes-Benz to my clinic, a patient said to me, \u2018You must be making good money,\u2019<\/strong> and a staff member said, \u2018Oh, your car is a Benz, isn\u2019t it?\u2019<\/strong> which made the atmosphere awkward\u2026 Since then, I stopped driving it to the clinic. Even though the model I own isn\u2019t a high-end Mercedes, just having a Benz makes people see me that way. And there\u2019s no way I could ever drive a Porsche there.\u201d<\/p>\n

That was his story.<\/p>\n

Indeed, owning a luxury car like a Porsche<\/strong> often doesn\u2019t leave the best impression on society. Even if the owner acts normally,<\/p>\n

people may think things like:
\n\u201cIt’s just a rich person\u2019s toy.\u201d
\n\u201cWe\u2019re working hard here, and they\u2019re just driving a luxury car.\u201d
\n\u201cThey post happy photos on social media\u2014it\u2019s just rubbing it in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Such feelings are often directed at Porsche owners.<\/p>\n

Also, since many Porsche owners are businesspeople, doctors, or professionals with respected positions<\/strong>, if their clients, patients, or employees harbor such feelings even a little, they might feel \u201cIt\u2019s better to keep owning a Porsche a secret.\u201d<\/strong> That\u2019s probably how they feel.<\/p>\n

Thriving Car Communities<\/h3>\n

While they absolutely can\u2019t tell people close to them that they drive a Porsche, many want to share \u201chow amazing Porsche cars are\u201d and \u201cwhat makes Porsche great!\u201d<\/strong> That desire is reflected in communities like \u201cMinkara,\u201d car enthusiast SNS and apps, and real-life Porsche communities.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In these places, they can safely express their \u201clove for cars\u201d and \u201cthe appeal of their vehicles\u201d that no one else understands, and others respond with \u201cYes, exactly! I get it!\u201d<\/strong> They can share their overflowing passion to their heart\u2019s content. That\u2019s why these car communities are so lively.<\/p>\n

My Husband\u2019s Porsche Passion and Hiroki Ando<\/h3>\n

On the other hand, my husband frequently posts about cars and photos of his beloved Porsche on his private SNS.<\/p>\n

Drove over 1,000 km around Shikoku in three days.<\/p>\n

Went to Suzuka. After all, cars are Porsche!<\/p>\n

Sold the SL500, and now the air-cooled Porsche 911 has arrived.<\/p>\n

Hill climbing on Mt. Rokko early in the morning!<\/p>\n

On the way back from a Tokyo business trip, the night view looked beautiful, so I came straight to Royu without going home.<\/p>\n

Going on a grand tour after a long time. Touring wide agricultural roads in Yamaguchi, Shimane, Tottori, Hiroshima, and Okayama.<\/p>\n

He posts so much that I once asked him, \u201cDon\u2019t you worry about what clients or employees might think if you post this much?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t care. Actually, people who post shyly or have luxury cars barely visible in the corner of their photos seem to get more criticism. But if you go all out as a car geek, people think, \u201cAh\u2026 this person really loves cars and driving,\u201d<\/strong> and then they stop saying anything. Half measures are the worst. Going all in is important. I\u2019m not driving a Porsche for fashion or show\u2014I truly love Porsche and driving. So I want people to know that side of me, and I don\u2019t hide it. Well, compared to Ando-san, I\u2019m still a beginner though, haha.<\/p>\n

I see\u2026 Honestly, seeing him so crazy about Porsche and cars, even I, his wife, can\u2019t say a word, haha.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Ando-san he mentioned is Hiroki Ando, a well-known freelance announcer and car enthusiast<\/strong>. He\u2019s been famous for his love of cars since his days at TBS. His passion is described online like this:<\/p>\n

Ando has been an avid car lover since his announcer days, even serving as a judge for the Japan Car of the Year awards. He\u2019s owned 42 cars ranging from luxury convertibles to 4WDs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
