A Slightly Unusual Couple<\/h3>\n

My husband and I aren\u2019t very interested in the usual things like food, clothing, or housing. Our family of four rarely eats out (about twice a month)<\/span>, and when we do, it\u2019s usually at places like Gusto or conveyor belt sushi. As for clothes, both my husband and I are firmly in the \u201cUniclo is more than enough<\/strong>\u201d camp, and my husband even wears his clothes until they fall apart. We hardly ever replace home appliances (even though I want to when they break, they just don\u2019t break\u2026)<\/span>, and we\u2019re not interested in interior design. Our home is a rented detached house, and honestly, we have no plans to buy a house in the future.<\/p>\n

Writing it like this might make us sound like \u201cminimalists\u201d or \u201cfrugal,\u201d but there\u2019s another big difference between us and most families: <\/p>\n

Our \u201ccar coefficient\u201d is unusually high\u2014much higher than our Engel coefficient.<\/p>\n

Right now, we have four cars, and on top of that, we\u2019re waiting for delivery of a fifth\u2026 it\u2019s quite the crazy situation.<\/p>\n

Cars My Husband Has Chosen Before<\/h3>\n

Even though we\u2019re a family of four, our daughters are still young, and we live in a place that\u2019s \u201csuburban, but just a quick train ride to both Osaka and Kobe city centers<\/strong>.\u201d So, logically, one car per family should be enough. That got me wondering, \u201cIf my husband had to keep just one of the cars we currently own, which one would he choose?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

Actually, before we got our air-cooled 911, I once asked him, \u201cIf you had to pick between the Boxster GTS (MT), the Panamera Turbo, and the (then-owned Mercedes-Benz) SL500, which would you choose?<\/strong>\u201d At the time, he said, \u201cThat\u2019s tough\u2026 it depends on the situation\u2026 but if I had to rate them on a scale of 1 to 5\u2026<\/strong>\u201d and gave these scores: <\/p>\n

\u2460 Royu Driveway (moderate mountain roads)<\/strong>
\nBoxster: 5, Panamera: 4.9, SL: 3
\n\u2461 Rural national roads<\/strong>
\nBoxster: 4, Panamera: 4.8, SL: 5
\n\u2462 Highways<\/strong>
\nBoxster: 4.3, Panamera: 5, SL: 4.8
\n\u2463 City driving<\/strong>
\nBoxster: 4.5, Panamera: 4.3, SL: 4.8<\/p>\n

Then he concluded, <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tough, but if I had to pick the one that balances everything well, it\u2019d be the Panamera.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hearing that made me, a Panamera fan, incredibly happy and relieved.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

911, Boxster, or Panamera?<\/h3>\n

So, what about now? I asked my husband at home, \u201cIf you could only keep one of the air-cooled 911 (964C2), Panamera, or Boxster, which would you choose?<\/strong>\u201d This time, he answered immediately: <\/p>\n

It\u2019s obvious. The 911.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2026Seriously?! ((\uff1b\uff9f\u0414\uff9f)) (I honestly thought he\u2019d say Panamera after all.)<\/span><\/p>\n

When I said, \u201cThat was quick,\u201d he replied, <\/p>\n

\u201cBecause there\u2019s no car that feels as good to drive. Plus, it can seat four, after all.\u201d<\/p>\n

I said, \u201cYeah, but if you pick the air-cooled, you definitely won\u2019t want to go on long trips with the family (here\u2019s why in this article<\/a>)<\/span>, and you\u2019ll complain a lot.\u201d He just said, <\/p>\n

I\u2019m fine with that.<\/p>\n

And that was that\u2026 (-_-) LOL<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, the air-cooled 911 is amazing to drive from the driver\u2019s seat perspective, but when it comes to four people, the passenger seat (no foot space because of luggage)<\/span> and back seats are honestly too cramped.<\/p>\n

\n(This is tough every time\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n

Our younger daughter still wears diapers, so when we go out, we have to bring diapers, wipes, changes of clothes, and quite a bit of stuff.<\/p>\n

Sure, if the trunk is empty, we can pack the luggage there, and technically it\u2019s a four-seater\u2026 but from my perspective, I really want him to keep the Panamera without hesitation.<\/strong> So, I asked our 5-year-old eldest daughter sitting next to me for help: \u201cWhich car do you like best?<\/strong>\u201d She immediately said: <\/p>\n

The green Porsche!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2026which means the air-cooled 911 (-_-)<\/p>\n

When I asked why, she said, <\/p>\n

Because when I sit in the back, my feet touch the floor (since the interior is compact)<\/span>, and the roof opens a little! (It has a sunroof)<\/span><\/p>\n

When I asked, \u201cWhat about the blue Porsche? It\u2019s big and cool,\u201d she said, <\/p>\n

No way. The roof doesn\u2019t open, so it\u2019s boring (-_-)<\/p>\n

\u2026Wow, that\u2019s such a shocking kid comment (*_*) I almost wanted to call her out, forgetting she\u2019s my own child. For now, I\u2019m clearly losing the family vote. (The younger daughter is only 2, so she doesn\u2019t count yet, lol.)<\/span><\/p>\n

If it really comes to that, my enthusiasm for life will plummet, so I guess I\u2019ll just have to buy another Panamera myself\u2026 and with that, I renewed my personal goal of owning a Porsche.<\/p>\n
