Revisiting Older Posts<\/h3>\n

About a week ago, I finally got around to revising some of my older posts. (Apparently, \u201crewriting\u201d usually means rephrasing someone else\u2019s article without changing its meaning\u2014but in this case, I\u2019m updating posts I wrote myself.)<\/p>\n

This blog has a few popular articles that attract plenty of traffic, but readers also continue to discover posts from the archives every day. The trouble is, some of my earliest posts\u2014especially those from when I first started the blog\u2014weren\u2019t exactly polished enough to show to anyone\u2026<\/p>\n

When I started this blog, it was simply a place to jot down my thoughts about how much I loved the Panamera. I didn\u2019t give much thought to making posts easy for readers to follow. I also assumed the blog wouldn\u2019t get much traffic, so I wrote casually, almost like keeping a diary.<\/p>\n

Looking back now, I find typos, inaccurate descriptions from when I knew less about cars, and so many emojis that the posts are hard to read. What a mess\u2026 (*_*)<\/p>\n

I\u2019d been thinking, \u201cI really need to go back and give these posts a proper edit at some point.\u201d But with more than 400 articles, it was hard to find the motivation to start.<\/p>\n

Then the other day, I thought, \u201cI\u2019ll have to do it eventually, so why not now?\u201d And somehow, I\u2019ve finally finished updating every post. What a relief!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s plenty to explore in the archives, so I hope you\u2019ll take a look around! (\u7b11)<\/p>\n

Convenient Porsche Panamera Options<\/h3>\n

Today, I\u2019m going to share a few thoughts on Panamera options. In an earlier post, I wrote that \u201crear-axle steering is unquestionably the must-have option on the Panamera<\/a>\u201d\u2014when it comes to performance, that is. This time, I\u2019ll cover four features that aren\u2019t directly related to how the car drives, but are so useful that I\u2019d definitely choose them again.<\/p>\n

\u2460 Soft-Close Doors<\/h4>\n

First up are soft-close doors. They pull the door fully shut if it\u2019s only been closed partway. At first, I thought, \u201cI definitely don\u2019t need that option.\u201d Now, though, I\u2019d hate to be without it.<\/p>\n

\"\u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u3000\u65b0\u578b\u30d1\u30ca\u30e1\u30fc\u30e9\u30bf\u30fc\u30dc\u3000\"<\/p>\n

We have a five-year-old and a two-year-old, and after a drive, one of them has usually fallen fast asleep by the time we get home. That means I often have to get out of the car while carrying a child.<\/p>\n

When your hands are full of kids and bags, closing the door can be a real challenge. That\u2019s why soft-close doors are so handy: shut the door most of the way, and the mechanism takes care of the rest.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve gotten so used to them that I now leave the door ajar almost every time I get out of our air-cooled 911. Then I remember, \u201cOh, right\u2014I have to close it all the way,\u201d and give it another push.<\/p>\n

\u2461 Smoker\u2019s Package<\/h4>\n

This option adds an ashtray and cigarette lighter to the front and rear center consoles. (However, you can\u2019t choose USB charging ports.)<\/span> We don\u2019t smoke in the car; my husband simply always orders this option, whatever the car, so he can use the cigarette-lighter socket for things like a GPS radar detector<\/a> or an iPhone charging cable.<\/p>\n

\u2462 Cupholder Covers<\/h4>\n

I like having cupholder covers because the kids are always putting rubbish and toys in the cupholders. (\u7206) When we\u2019re not using them, I press the base to raise the cover and keep anything from getting inside. That\u2019s really the only reason I think they\u2019re useful\u2026<\/p>\n

Still, this is a no-cost option, so there\u2019s no real downside to having it.<\/p>\n

\u2463 14-Way Power Seats with Memory<\/h4>\n

The power-adjustable front seats let you change the seat height and position, among other settings. You can also save your preferred seat position, steering-column position, and door-mirror angles to memory.<\/p>\n

\"\u65b0\u578b\u30d1\u30ca\u30e1\u30fc\u30e9\u306e\u30b7\u30fc\u30c8\"<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no need to adjust the seat and steering wheel every time before starting the engine. Once you start the car, they move automatically to your saved settings, leaving you ready to go. It\u2019s a small convenience that makes a real difference.<\/p>\n

A reader also shared this useful detail: unless you choose the 14-way power seats with memory<\/strong> as an option (they\u2019re standard on the Panamera Turbo)<\/span>, you apparently can\u2019t adjust the front passenger seat from the driver\u2019s side<\/strong><\/a>. I\u2019ll share more about this in a future Porsche Owners File article.<\/p>\n

Other Porsche Options<\/h3>\n

Another feature I think is very convenient is the Porsche Entry & Drive system<\/strong>. It lets you lock and unlock the car and start the engine without taking the key out of your pocket. Sometimes the kids fall asleep after we\u2019ve been shopping, and it\u2019s really handy to be able to open the car while holding one of them. That said, I seem to remember my husband saying, \u201cI don\u2019t need options like that\u2014they don\u2019t feel very sports-car-like.\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, I believe it comes standard on every Panamera, rather than being an option you need to select. (It\u2019s not listed as an option in the car configurator, but the car has it.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Writing this has reminded me that some options are only useful if you have young children. The features you need can change depending on your family and your stage of life.<\/p>\n
