When purchased new, the price was about 3 million yen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2797\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/IMG_4513-1024x683-e1530661001752-800x534.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen Golf 7\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Golf arrived at our home in August 2016, so it\u2019s been about two and a half years since delivery. The other day, after a long time, I drove the Golf for about 150 km round trip and once again realized, \u201c<strong>The Golf is truly a wonderful car.<\/strong>\u201d I just had to share that on the blog (laughs).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">The Excellence of the Golf 7<\/h3>\n<p>Ride comfort, handling, high-speed stability, sufficient power, maneuverability, fuel efficiency\u2026 in every aspect, <strong>the Golf 7 is a well-balanced car.<\/strong> I have no complaints at all, and <strong>I even think every family should have a Golf.<\/strong> So, what exactly makes the Golf so good?<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Smooth Ride Comfort<\/h4>\n<p>The Golf 7\u2019s ride feels like a smoothed-out Porsche\u2026 It\u2019s <strong>relatively firm but with a genuine smoothness that makes the ride feel very comfortable.<\/strong> Although you can feel some larger vertical jolts on rough roads or when crossing train tracks, any vibration settles immediately without lingering. I think that\u2019s truly amazing. Also, not only the driver and front passenger seats but <strong>the rear seats are very comfortable too, making long trips easy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">High-Quality Interior and Seats<\/h4>\n<p>The Golf 7\u2019s interior has a premium feel. The seat stitching is stylish, and there\u2019s no cheap plastic feel on the touch panels or steering wheel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8995\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_2345-1024x683-800x534.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The seats aren\u2019t too soft and don\u2019t cause fatigue even after long drives. The rear seats are quite spacious, and my husband, who is 178 cm tall, can sit comfortably.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Comfortable for City Driving<\/h4>\n<p>Hearing \u201c1200cc, 105 horsepower\u201d might make you wonder, \u201c<strong>Is that really enough power?<\/strong>\u201d Honestly, I thought so too. But when actually driving, it doesn\u2019t feel that way at all\u2014in fact, it feels like a more powerful car. There\u2019s no \u201cweak initial acceleration,\u201d and even in stop-and-go traffic or at red lights, it drives smoothly without any awkwardness.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2796\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/IMG_4517-1024x683-800x534.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen Golf 7\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When climbing the steep hill right in front of our house, the engine revs up and the sound gets loud with a \u201cvroom!\u201d but <strong>it never feels like it\u2019s struggling despite the engine noise<\/strong>; it climbs steadily. There\u2019s no feeling of lacking power or having too much power\u2014it\u2019s just the perfect balance.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Excellent High-Speed Stability<\/h4>\n<p>The Golf\u2019s high-speed stability is impressive. The other day, I drove on the Chugoku Expressway on a weekday with light traffic, and even at higher speeds, the steering and body didn\u2019t wobble at all. <strong>In fact, the faster you go, the more firmly stable it feels.<\/strong> The ride is truly flat with minimal vertical movement of the line of sight. Even when changing lanes, there\u2019s no wobble, so you can switch lanes with confidence.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Maneuverable and Practical<\/h4>\n<p>With a width of about 1,800 mm and a length of about 4,500 mm, the Golf is very maneuverable. It can easily handle roads that I would avoid with the Panamera, and parking is never a concern. Plus, it seats five people, making it very practical.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Convenient ACC<\/h4>\n<p>The Golf\u2019s ACC <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Adaptive Cruise Control)<\/span> is quite smart. I always use it on busy highways. <strong>The lane-keeping assist maintains the lane through moderate curves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-8998\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_2527-1024x683-800x534.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That said, unlike the Panamera, which has radars on both sides, the Golf has only one radar in the center, so you need to be cautious about sudden cut-ins.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Reliable \/ Low Maintenance Costs<\/h4>\n<p>In these two and a half years and 26,500 km of heavy use, <strong>it has never broken down once.<\/strong> Also, a 1-liter oil can was included from delivery so we could top up oil anytime the warning appeared, but I\u2019ve never had to add oil myself <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(oil changes are done during annual inspections)<\/span>. Fuel efficiency is good too\u2014when my husband uses it for commuting <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(on general roads and congested highways)<\/span>, it usually gets around 13\u201315 km\/l.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9008\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0761-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also, <strong>the total cost for the annual inspection, including a thorough check, was just 30,000 yen.<\/strong> Whether you consider that expensive or cheap is subjective, but since the Panamera\u2019s oil change alone cost over 40,000 yen, this feels like excellent value.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Overall Impression of the Golf 7<\/h3>\n<p>I once asked my husband, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/which-is-the-best-car-for-myhusband\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">If you had to keep only one Porsche from our collection, which would it be?<\/a>\u201d Adding the Golf to the options, he said, \u201c<strong>Keeping the Golf is definitely the smartest choice.<\/strong>\u201d It feels like it could be driven normally without any issues for another 10 years. About the Golf, he says:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">The cost performance is incredible. <strong>At this price, the ride comfort, handling, brakes, and quality are unmatched.<\/strong> Sometimes I drive SUVs or sedans in the 5 to 8 million yen range, but honestly, I often think, \u2018<strong>Wait, isn\u2019t the Golf better?<\/strong>\u2019<br \/>\nAlso, I always feel it\u2019s <strong>very safe.<\/strong> Not just in terms of crash safety, but the brake feel and effectiveness, controllability, solid handling, and road-holding ability\u2014all the basic driving performance that helps avoid collisions are really solid.<br \/>\nSome cars emphasize crash safety after impact but have soft, mushy suspensions. <strong>The ability to \u2018not crash\u2019 based on fundamental driving performance\u2014accelerating, cornering, and braking\u2014is just as important.<\/strong> The Golf doesn\u2019t cut corners there, and I really appreciate that.<\/p>\n<p>This is a completely personal story, but my parents have always loved domestic manufacturer T\u2019s cars and never switched brands.
