My Husband\u2019s Porsche Touring<\/h3>\n

My husband, who is well-known to love cars and driving, always does one thing before going on a touring trip<\/a>. That is to thoroughly research the route beforehand. While route research before a tour might sound obvious, my husband\u2019s preparation is exceptionally detailed.<\/p>\n

This is because it\u2019s not just about getting to the destination quickly, but about choosing the best roads where he can enjoy driving his Porsche to the fullest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For example, when he decides, \u201cWe\u2019re going touring next Sunday<\/strong>,\u201d he first studies the Touring Mapple guide, checks the blog of wata-san, a Boxster owner<\/a> whom he deeply respects and believes to be Japan\u2019s top Porsche touring enthusiast<\/strong>, and reviews Google Maps routes he has driven before, all while carefully planning the route.<\/p>\n

\"Touring<\/p>\n

Also, depending on whether he takes the 911 Cabriolet (992), the Boxster GTS (981), or the air-cooled 911 (964) (or previously the 911 GT3), the ideal speed range and road characteristics for a pleasant drive change, so he takes all that into account during his thorough route research.<\/p>\n

Seeing him prepare so meticulously, I said, \u201cWow, I could never be that thorough<\/strong>,\u201d and he replied:<\/p>\n

Well, since we\u2019re going somewhere we normally can\u2019t drive to, and we\u2019re doing it in a Porsche, it only makes sense to pick the most enjoyable roads. If it were just about getting from A to B in a regular car, I wouldn\u2019t bother so much. But since it\u2019s a sports car, it\u2019s natural to prepare so we can fully enjoy the drive.
\nI hate regretting later, thinking, \u201cOh, we missed that great road<\/strong>.\u201d
\nOf course, sometimes I spot a road that looks fun and take a detour, but mostly I stick to the planned route.<\/p>\n

\"Touring\"<\/p>\n

It\u2019s impressive\u2026 As an ordinary person, even when I go on a long drive, I don\u2019t usually research the route that thoroughly. I just hope to find some nice roads along the way, but I\u2019m not that determined.<\/p>\n

Also, when we go on long drives as a family, preparing for our three kids\u2014diapers, clothes, and things to keep them entertained\u2014takes priority, so I rarely think about the roads.<\/p>\n

\u2026Or maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019m a \u201crain woman\u201d that I\u2019ve already resigned myself to the idea that no matter how good the roads I find, it\u2019ll probably rain or storm anyway<\/strong> (laughs).<\/p>\n

Touring Is Entertainment<\/h3>\n

For his route research, my husband always uses a map called \u201cTouring Mapple,\u201d which is actually designed for motorcyclists.<\/p>\n

When I asked him, \u201cWhy do you deliberately use a map for motorcyclists?<\/strong>\u201d he said:<\/p>\n

Because right now, it\u2019s the only map that shows \u201cgood roads.\u201d Car maps focus on destinations, highlighting scenic spots or restaurants with good lunches. That\u2019s normal.
\nBut roads leading to popular tourist spots usually have heavy traffic, and they don\u2019t consider how enjoyable the drive itself is, so driving there can be stressful.
\nI love driving, so I don\u2019t care much about the tourist spots. I want to know the best roads to enjoy driving<\/strong>, and for that, Touring Mapple is the best resource right now.
\nThat said, since it\u2019s a motorcycle map, some roads are ridiculously narrow for cars, so you have to be careful.<\/p>\n

Listening to him, I realized his route research is like someone planning a trip to Disneyland, simulating the most efficient and enjoyable way to get around in advance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Porsche<\/p>\n

For most people, driving somewhere is just transportation, but for my husband, touring is entertainment on the same level as going to Disneyland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
