So then, how on earth did it rack up over 18,000 km… (\uff0a_\uff0a)?<\/span><\/p>\nThe other day I asked my husband, “It\u2019s already over 18,000 km… but we haven\u2019t really driven that much, right!?<\/strong>” <\/p>\nYeah, that\u2019s right. I\u2019ve hardly used the Panamera for commuting recently… Even picking up from kindergarten is less than 5 km round trip, right? So how come it\u2019s clocking over 1,000 km a month? It\u2019s a mystery.<\/p>\n
Still, since the odometer isn\u2019t broken, I decided to break down how much we\u2019ve actually driven.<\/p>\n
Panamera Drives<\/h3>\n
First, I tried to list all the medium- and long-distance drives I could remember. There might be some I forgot, but here\u2019s what I know so far: <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s Calculate Daily Use<\/h3>\n\u2460 Husband\u2019s Commute<\/h4>\n
First, about my husband\u2019s commute. The round-trip distance from home to work is about 50 km. For a while after the Panamera was delivered, he commuted almost every day in it. Probably about 15 times the first month, then about 3 times a month after that. He doesn\u2019t commute during long holidays like Golden Week, Obon, or New Year\u2019s, so he\u2019s commuted about 50 times in the Panamera so far.<\/strong><\/p>\nSo, the total distance for his commuting is about 2,500 km. <\/p>\n
\u2461 My Work Trips to Osaka<\/h4>\n
On my side, I probably make about two round trips to Osaka for work each month, so about 30 times so far. The round-trip distance is about the same as my husband\u2019s commute, around 50 km, which adds up to 1,500 km. <\/p>\n
\u2462 Shopping Trips to Kobe<\/h4>\n
I think I\u2019ve gone to Kobe and Sannomiya about 15 times in the Panamera. Trips to Daimaru Kobe, the Anpanman Museum, umie, and so on…<\/strong> The round-trip distance is about 30 km, so that\u2019s 450 km. <\/p>\n\u2463 Picking Up from Nursery and Kindergarten<\/h4>\n
Picking up our eldest daughter from kindergarten is about 3 km round trip, but often I stop by the supermarket afterward, so let\u2019s say 5 km. I do this about 20 times a month, and I use the Panamera about 15 of those times, excluding summer, winter, and spring breaks… so about 180 times so far.<\/p>\n
Including picking up our younger daughter from nursery, the total distance for school runs is about 1,000 km. <\/p>\n
\u2464 Weekend Shopping Nearby<\/h4>\n
About 2\u20133 times a month, our family goes shopping or for drives nearby on weekends. Assuming each round trip is 50 km, that\u2019s 150 km per month. Over 1 year and 4 months, that adds up to 2,400 km.<\/p>\n
Adding up \u2460 through \u2464 gives us 7,850 km.<\/p>\n
So combined with the medium- and long-distance drives, that\u2019s 15,860 km.<\/strong><\/p>\nStill about 3,000 km short… (\uff0a_\uff0a)<\/span><\/p>\nWell, maybe there are some long drives I forgot to include, or we might have used it more in daily life than I realized, so it\u2019s easy to see how it could quickly exceed 18,000 km.<\/p>\n
Also, we almost never use trains or buses when going out, always traveling by car,<\/strong> so the daily use really adds up.<\/p>\nWant to Keep It Under 30,000 km<\/h3>\n

I wanted to keep the mileage under 30,000 km when it\u2019s time to replace the Panamera, but at this rate, that\u2019s impossible…<\/p>\n
