This model was released in 2014 and we bought it used.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"pW3Kl4kW8p\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/he-get-s63amg\/\">\u592b\u304cS63AMG\u30af\u30fc\u30da\u3092\u8cb7\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f\u2212\u7d0d\u8eca\u5f8c\u306e\u592b\u306e\u611f\u60f3\u306f\uff1f<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/he-get-s63amg\/embed\/#?secret=pW3Kl4kW8p\" data-secret=\"pW3Kl4kW8p\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" title=\"&#8220;\u592b\u304cS63AMG\u30af\u30fc\u30da\u3092\u8cb7\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f\u2212\u7d0d\u8eca\u5f8c\u306e\u592b\u306e\u611f\u60f3\u306f\uff1f&#8221; &#8212; \u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7\u304c\u308f\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3084\u3063\u3066\u304d\u305f - \u30aa\u30fc\u30ca\u30fc\u30ba\u30d6\u30ed\u30b0\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We usually kept this S63 parked at my husband\u2019s workplace, so it hasn\u2019t been driven much, but unfortunately, he has decided to part with it now.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9232\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0948-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, taking advantage of the opportunity, including a recent drive together on the Royu Driveway, I decided to write <strong>my impressions of owning this AMG S63 4MATIC Coupe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">A Longing for Large Coupes<\/h3>\n<p>When my husband bought this S63 Coupe, I thought it was a car he wouldn\u2019t normally choose since he loves <strong>sporty driving<\/strong> and <strong>a strong connection with the car<\/strong>. So I asked him why he bought it. He answered:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">I\u2019ve always had a longing for large coupes.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back, his love for cars started when he first got his license and inherited a Honda Legend 2-door hardtop (KA3) from his father. Riding that Legend amazed him because it was <strong>completely different from the driving school car or his mother\u2019s kei car<\/strong>, and that\u2019s when he fell in love with cars.<\/p>\n<p>Later, as a university student, he bought a used successor Legend Coupe \u03b1 Touring (KA8) and traveled all over Japan in it. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I wonder if he actually went to university properly, lol)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9276\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0960-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From that time, he was captivated by large coupes with <strong>front seat comfort<\/strong> and the <strong>luxury of a 2-door despite the huge body<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9277\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0961-600x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He still says that <strong>the KA8 Legend Coupe\u2019s style is his favorite among all his cars<\/strong>, and the personal and companion-like feeling it gave him left a strong impression. Back then, when the internet wasn\u2019t as developed, he even <strong>created and ran an owner\u2019s website for the Legend Coupe<\/strong> because he loved it so much.<\/p>\n<p>So when we go on family drives, he often nostalgically says,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">I used to drive here in the Legend Coupe. I wonder how it would feel to drive it now. If I had the chance, I\u2019d love to own one again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0955-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Mercedes\u2019 Top-Class Coupe<\/h3>\n<p>Having been fascinated by large coupes for a long time, every time he saw the Mercedes 560SEC or CL600 in car magazines, he developed a strong desire to <strong>\u201cdrive one someday!\u201d<\/strong>. That dream was realized with this S63 Coupe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9238\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0946-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This AMG S63 4MATIC Coupe (C217) is no longer called a CL-Class but has returned to the old naming of <strong>\u201cS-Class Coupe\u201d<\/strong>. The interior, as you can see, is fully leather and sumptuously luxurious.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9239\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0113-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0864-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0112-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The thickness, cushioning, and comfort of these seats are something <strong>you simply can\u2019t experience in other cars<\/strong>. Also, this \u201c<strong>all-in<\/strong>\u201d model comes equipped with every comfort feature imaginable\u2014from seat ventilation, ACC, night vision, 360\u00b0 cameras, massage functions, to driving dynamic seats that hold occupants\u2019 posture in corners.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">A Woman\u2019s Perspective on the S63 Coupe<\/h3>\n<p>I recently had my first chance to drive the S63 Coupe. Since I only associate <strong>large sedans with the Panamera<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I once test drove a BMW 7 Series but wasn\u2019t really into cars back then, so I don\u2019t remember much about the ride)<\/span>, I couldn\u2019t help but compare it to the Panamera.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Getting In and Starting to Drive<\/h4>\n<p>First, I was surprised when I opened the door. As mentioned earlier, the seat thickness is incredible.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9243\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0018-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cWait, is this a seat or a sofa? (*_*)\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I almost asked that out loud (lol).<\/p>\n<p>Sitting down, it felt more like a <strong>massage chair than a driver\u2019s seat<\/strong>, and the view from the driver\u2019s seat was very high. <strong>The higher eye level made it easier for a woman to drive, and compared to the Panamera, the higher ride height made getting in and out easier<\/strong>, which I liked.<\/p>\n<p>Then I was surprised when I tried to buckle the seatbelt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0865-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It politely presents the belt to you! (\uff9f\u0434\uff9f)!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The lever brings the seatbelt to an easy-to-reach position. Usually, when the seat is moved forward, it\u2019s hard to reach the belt, but with the S63 Coupe, there\u2019s no such hassle. This thoughtful design is a very welcome detail from a woman\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Then, gripping the steering wheel, I was surprised again.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Whoa, it\u2019s thick! (*_*)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9244\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0919-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Panamera\u2019s wheel isn\u2019t thin either, but the S63\u2019s was even thicker and softer. Because of this, <strong>the grip felt loose and my hands felt like they were floating while driving\u2026 honestly, it was hard to hold.<\/strong> Maybe because of that, I never got into a \u201clet\u2019s go!\u201d sporty mood and instead felt like driving slowly and elegantly the whole time.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I was surprised by the play in the steering, accelerator, and brake. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Maybe the Porsche has almost no play at all.)<\/span> Even when I pressed the accelerator like I would in the Panamera, the car didn\u2019t move forward immediately. I had to press quite a bit before it responded. The handling also felt somewhat \u201csoft and vague\u201d <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I can\u2019t find a better word -_-)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>When I looked at the meter while driving, I noticed there was no oil temperature gauge, and I said so to my husband.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">That\u2019s normal. Only Porsche and supercars tell you to \u201cwatch your oil temperature\u201d while driving. Usually, there\u2019s no oil temp gauge. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(If you select the AMG menu on the meter, the oil temp is displayed.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He said. Oh, I see! Still, the meter displayed <strong>\u201cAMG\u201d and \u201cV8BITURBO\u201d<\/strong>, and the design looked really cool.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9248\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0120-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9247\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0075-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Ride Comfort \/ Ease of Driving<\/h4>\n<p>The ride was very smooth, full of luxury, and glided along. The steering was light, so driving was easy. <strong>The typical AMG rough engine sound was barely audible inside the cabin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I actually like the AMG engine sound, so I thought, <strong>\u201cI wish I could hear it a bit more.\u201d<\/strong> But I guess quietness is important for a luxury coupe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0025-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t feel it was heavy, but <strong>the size of the car was definitely noticeable<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Well, it\u2019s huge, so of course, lol)<\/span>. Compared to the Panamera, which feels small and nimble despite its size, the S63\u2019s width was hard to judge, and I felt like I was driving a very large car the whole time. Maybe it was also because it was left-hand drive and I\u2019m not used to that.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the driving dynamic seats that hold occupants\u2019 posture in corners\u2014every time we took a curve on the Royu Driveway <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I doubt anyone else drives an S63 Coupe there)<\/span>, the sides of the seat squeezed me tightly to prevent my body from being pushed outward by centrifugal force. But honestly, <strong>it started to feel like my waist was being massaged, and I had to fight back laughter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Acceleration<\/h4>\n<p>On the highway, I briefly floored the accelerator to experience full acceleration. Until then, I had been thinking,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u201c<strong>Let\u2019s fully experience the incredible acceleration of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG flagship!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>and was quite excited, but honestly, it wasn\u2019t that dramatic. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(This is just my amateur opinion, sorry.)<\/span> Maybe if I could accelerate freely beyond the speed limit, I would have felt the full power.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9255\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0017-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I told my husband, <strong>\u201cThe AMG S63\u2019s acceleration isn\u2019t that impressive (\uffe3\u30fc\uffe3),\u201d<\/strong> he replied,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">What are you saying! If you say that, car enthusiasts will be mad at you!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Yes, he\u2019s right. Sorry for sounding so arrogant.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Still, when I pressed the Sports Response Button on the Panamera Turbo, even a slight push on the accelerator pinned me to the seat with a terrifying rocket-like acceleration, but I didn\u2019t get that feeling with the S63 Coupe.<\/p>\n<p>Both the Panamera Turbo and S63 Coupe have 4L-class V8 engines, and <strong>the Panamera Turbo has 550 hp while the S63 Coupe has 585 hp<\/strong>, so the S63 should be more powerful, but it didn\u2019t feel that way.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Other<\/h4>\n<p>I also tried the massage function, which I think would be great for long, relaxed drives. Personally, <strong>I would have preferred a stronger massage.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(But if that\u2019s the case, I should just go to a massage parlor.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I sat in the back seat as well, but since it\u2019s a coupe, the space is a bit tight.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9253\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0873-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was just right for my height, but for my husband, who is 178 cm tall, I think his legs would touch the front seat and be uncomfortable. The sides are also designed to curve inward, so <strong>if you want to sit comfortably in the back, you should probably choose the S-Class sedan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That said, it\u2019s undeniably a wonderful car. The high-quality seats, luxurious interior, smooth and relaxed city driving, and fatigue-free long-distance travel. Also, <strong>the S63\u2019s status gives you a VIP feeling just by being inside.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From a woman\u2019s perspective, I think most wives would definitely prefer the S-Class over the Panamera.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026But I still like the Panamera better, lol.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Husband\u2019s Impressions of the S63 Coupe<\/h3>\n<p>Now\u2026 or rather, everything so far was just the introduction. The main part is next. My husband wrote a report, so I\u2019ll share his views from here.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Driving \/ Ride Comfort<\/h4>\n<p>When you hear AMG, many might imagine a very sporty car, but this is a very gentle car. The engine start sound is a subtle <strong>\u201cbrrr\u201d<\/strong> of the V8, heard only briefly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9254\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0002-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once started and driving, it\u2019s very quiet. <strong>In Comfort mode, the quietness is high, and the V8 roar is only faintly heard in the distance.<\/strong> The road noise from the tires is louder. It\u2019s quiet enough on the highway to have calm conversations.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension never feels stiff. It gently absorbs bumps in any situation and maintains a flat posture, though personally, I sometimes wished it was <strong>a bit firmer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Driving on the Royu Driveway<\/h4>\n<p>On winding roads like the Royu Driveway, you feel the weight and high center of gravity, but the handling is straightforward. <strong>It\u2019s soft and supple yet turns firmly.<\/strong> This reminds me of the R129 I owned before, and I think <strong>this is classic Mercedes.<\/strong> What you get is not \u201cfun\u201d but \u201cpeace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9256\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0105-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On any surface or condition, when you brake and steer, the car reads the driver\u2019s intent and handles the rest smoothly. That\u2019s the feeling.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Highway Driving<\/h4>\n<p><strong>The high-speed stability on highways is, needless to say, at a very high level.<\/strong> At any speed, it feels completely secure driving straight. In tight high-speed corners, it tends to understeer a bit, so you need to steer a little more, but even then, the car responds reliably, giving a strong sense of security.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Transmission \/ Engine<\/h4>\n<p>The AMG engine is hand-assembled, and the craftsman\u2019s nameplate is attached. This <strong>V8 twin-turbo engine produces 585 PS and 91.8 kgm of torque<\/strong>, controlled by a 7-speed automatic called AMG Speedshift MCT.<\/p>\n<p>The digital tachometer\u2019s needle movement feels a bit slower than expected, but the engine revs well and has plenty of torque from low rpm, making it easy to handle. <strong>In Sport mode, you can clearly hear the characteristic AMG V8 rumble.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The transmission is not a dual-clutch like Porsche\u2019s PDK but a torque converter automatic with the torque converter replaced by a wet multi-plate clutch. It\u2019s a <strong>unique Mercedes system<\/strong> that combines the best of torque converter automatics and dual-clutch transmissions.<\/p>\n<p>This AT is very smooth with almost no shift shock, no free play, and no loss of power during shifts. Paddle shifts aren\u2019t very fast but not unsatisfactory.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0006-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Notably, the shift timing is smart. In Sport mode, when driving winding roads and braking before corners, it downshifts with a satisfying <strong>\u201cvroom!\u201d<\/strong> rev match. The timing is perfect and very enjoyable.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Acceleration<\/h4>\n<p>Acceleration is, of course, fast. <strong>0-100 km\/h in 3.9 seconds is supercar territory from a while ago.<\/strong> When you press the accelerator hard, the furious acceleration starts, but this is a top-class Mercedes coupe. The acceleration is <strong>gentle and smooth<\/strong>, like running on a carpet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0026-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Compared to the Panamera, the accelerator has more play and a slight delay in response. This is part of Mercedes\u2019 philosophy to <strong>prevent unintended sudden acceleration by making the accelerator heavier and response less sharp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the engine\u2019s smoothness and response are excellent and worthy of the AMG badge.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Husband\u2019s Overall Impression<\/h3>\n<p>In one word, the S63 is <strong>\u201cthe ultimate automobile.\u201d<\/strong> It\u2019s comfortable in any situation and delivers passengers to their destination with immense peace of mind. <strong>It offers the act of \u201cmoving\u201d at an extremely high level.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Personally, I also like playful sports cars, but <strong>this sincerity and comfort are very appealing.<\/strong> From my experience owning the R129, I think this is one of the few models that <strong>carry the good qualities of old Mercedes into the modern era.<\/strong> Although I\u2019m reluctantly letting it go, <strong>if you want to choose one luxury car, I wholeheartedly recommend the S63.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2026That\u2019s my impression of the Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 4MATIC Coupe (C217).
