A while has passed since I wrote in my blog, “My husband ordered the GT3 Touring Package, and I want to share the details of the options and specs later<\/a>.”<\/p>\n\u592b\u304c \u30dd\u30eb\u30b7\u30a7 911 GT3 \u30c4\u30fc\u30ea\u30f3\u30b0\u30d1\u30c3\u30b1\u30fc\u30b8\uff08\u7fbd\u306a\u3057\uff09\u3092\u6ce8\u6587\u3057\u3066\u304d\u305f\u3002<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So this time, I\u2019d like to introduce <strong>why my husband chose the GT3 Touring Package and decided on these particular options and specs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While I think options should basically be chosen according to personal preference, I hope understanding his thoughts and reasons will be helpful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00001-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">My Touring-Loving Husband<\/h3>\n<p>My husband uses his car for commuting every day. He also goes on tours and drives quite frequently. In fact, he often takes <strong>long tours lasting 3 nights and 4 days<\/strong>. He likes going to the circuit too, but <strong>only a few times a year at most.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What he really loves is touring and driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">For my way of using the car, the RS models don\u2019t fit and would be a waste. Above all, <strong>I thought I wouldn\u2019t be able to handle the RS models, so I chose the regular GT3.<\/strong> Among those, the “Touring Package” is perfect for someone who loves touring. <strong>A GT3 without a wing is just so stylish.<\/strong> There are probably few of them, so it won\u2019t clash with others and should be quite rare.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said. However, it\u2019s not that he dislikes the PDK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">When I drove a friend\u2019s GT3 with PDK before, I thought it was a world-class transmission with lightning-fast shifts, but since it doesn\u2019t have creep at takeoff, crawling in traffic seemed tough. <strong>I didn\u2019t want the amazing PDK to become a source of stress in city driving.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">With an MT, you can control it freely, and since I\u2019ve already experienced <strong>how fun it is to drive an MT in the city with my Boxster<\/strong>, the Touring Package being MT-only was perfect. Also, with stricter environmental regulations coming, who knows when MTs will disappear? Opportunities to handle a 500ps naturally aspirated engine with an MT won\u2019t come often.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s his reasoning. I agree with him, but on the other hand, I wonder if I, who struggle even with the Boxster GTS MT, will be able to handle the GT3 Touring MT\u2026 that\u2019s my only worry (lol).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Body Color: Crayon<\/h3>\n<p>Regarding the choice of the Crayon body color, my husband said this:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">I think Crayon started appearing around the time the new Panamera came out. I started seeing Crayon Panameras on Instagram here and there, and then I noticed many photos of GT3 and GT3 RS in Crayon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00017-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Why he was drawn to Crayon:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">– At first glance, it looks matte and flat, but actually has a glossy feel<br \/>\n– White can lack a sense of depth, but <strong>Crayon gives a sense of depth despite being a light color<\/strong><br \/>\n– Gray tones have been trending in European car colors in recent years<br \/>\n– It\u2019s unlikely to be common in Japan <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(though Crayon is popular in Europe and the US)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also, he felt the dual nature of the GT3 Touring \u2014 <strong>a GT3 without a wing<\/strong> \u2014 matched well with Crayon\u2019s dual nature of <strong>looking whitish at first but actually having a deep color<\/strong>, so he chose Crayon without hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, <strong>in the US, this color is called Chalk, not Crayon,<\/strong> and Porsche also offers very similar colors like Fashion Grey and Sport Classic Grey. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(There are articles online comparing them.)<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Other Options<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019d also like to briefly introduce the reasons behind other option choices.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Touring Package (Black)<\/h4>\n<p>He chose the black Touring Package, which means <strong>logos and window trims are black instead of silver chrome, and the tail lights are blackened<\/strong>. He thought this design would look great with Crayon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00026-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">PCCB<\/h4>\n<p>PCCB <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes)<\/span> was a must-have for the next Porsche purchase. While braking performance is important, he emphasized <strong>the significant reduction in unsprung weight, which improves ride comfort and handling.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Seats \/ Interior<\/h4>\n<p>He chose <strong>Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way electric)<\/strong>, but honestly, he considered <strong>going for the full carbon bucket seats.<\/strong> Full bucket seats look incredibly cool and are only available on special models like the 918 Spyder and GT3 variants, making them very rare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">However, since he bought the car mainly for long-distance touring, not being able to recline or rest in the seat at convenience stores or roadside stations would be tough.<\/p>\n<p>He said that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9541\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00014-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also thought, “<strong>Wouldn\u2019t the standard Sports Seat Plus be enough then?<\/strong>” but<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">he really wanted the interior stitching to match the exterior Crayon color. That meant <strong>he had to choose the Leather Package along with the Adaptive Sports Seats Plus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If he didn\u2019t choose the Leather Package, he couldn\u2019t select the stitching color, and the dashboard and door trims would be plastic, making the GT3 interior look worse than the Boxster GTS with Leather Package, which he wanted to avoid.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Touring Package comes standard with black aluminum panels around the shifter, glovebox cup holder cover, and door trims, which look a bit subdued, he chose the <strong>Carbon Interior Package (for Leather Package)<\/strong> \u2014 the same one he selected for the Panamera \u2014 to upgrade those parts to carbon.<\/p>\n<p>He also chose silver-gray seat belts to match the exterior.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00016-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Lights<\/h4>\n<p>He chose black xenon headlights with PDLS. Although he had selected LED lights for the Panamera, he felt <strong>there wasn\u2019t much difference in brightness<\/strong> and preferred the design of xenon lights, where the four daytime running lights are inside the headlight rather than along the circle\u2019s edge as with LED.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the LED daytime running light on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/P17_0254_a5_rgb-800x444.jpg\" alt=\"991.2 GT3\" width=\"800\" height=\"444\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here is the xenon daytime running light on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Slider_911GT3_03_Motor-16dd1169-800x307.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Auto-Dimming Mirrors<\/h4>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t particularly concerned about auto-dimming mirrors but chose them mainly for the <strong>automatic wiper function that comes with them.<\/strong> He regretted not ordering this option when he bought the Boxster GTS because he didn\u2019t know about it then.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Seat Heaters<\/h4>\n<p>He chose seat heaters because they\u2019re convenient when it\u2019s cold or when he has a cold. Though I think, “<strong>If you have a cold, shouldn\u2019t you just stay home and rest?<\/strong>” (-_-). He also wanted seat ventilation but apparently it\u2019s not available on the GT3.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9542\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00012-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Smoker\u2019s Package<\/h4>\n<p>He doesn\u2019t need the ashtray function but chose the Smoker\u2019s Package because <strong>it adds an extra 12V power socket.<\/strong> During touring, he charges various smartphones and camera gear, so having more power outlets is definitely better.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Wheels<\/h4>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t fond of black wheels and initially planned to keep them silver, but since the car is Crayon with yellow PCCB calipers, he thought <strong>a slightly darker color might suit better<\/strong> and chose Satin Platinum.<\/p>\n<p>His only complaint is that he dislikes that only center-lock wheels are available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">You can\u2019t fix a flat tire during touring, and removing the wheels yourself requires a huge torque wrench, which is inconvenient. RS models might need it for racing, but at least the Touring Package should offer regular 5-lug wheels as an option.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Sport Chrono Package<\/h4>\n<p>For the GT3, there is no Sport Plus mode, so the Sport Chrono Package basically includes just the stopwatch, digital stopwatch function, and the performance display in Porsche Communication Management (PCM). He didn\u2019t really need it but chose it because the stopwatch adds a nice accent to the interior.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9544\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00020-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Reversing Camera<\/h4>\n<p>A reversing camera is obviously convenient, so he chose it.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Front Axle Lift System<\/h4>\n<p>He decided the <strong>front axle lift system<\/strong> was necessary for <strong>getting over bumps at convenience stores and gas stations.<\/strong> Additionally,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Since I sometimes drive on narrow, hard-to-drive roads that feel like off-road during touring, it\u2019s essential. I couldn\u2019t manage without it.<\/p>\n<p>In summary, he chose the <strong>Touring Package truly for touring<\/strong>, and plans to switch the tires from the factory Pilot Sport Cup 2 (shallow tread, dry-focused sports tires) to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/tire-michelin-pilotsports-4s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pilot Sport 4S<\/a>, which offers confidence even in heavy rain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9547\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00005-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Delivery Expected Late April to Late May?<\/h3>\n<p>Actually, he only had about 30 minutes to decide on the GT3 specs… <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(One afternoon, the dealer called saying, “If you decide within the next 90 minutes, we can place the order!” so he rushed there and made the decision.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When I said, “<strong>How did you manage to think through and order all this in just 30 minutes?<\/strong>”<\/p>\n<p>He proudly replied, <\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">“Of course! When the Touring Package came out, I spent countless hours on overseas Porsche configurators researching, so I was fully prepared whenever they called!”<\/p>\n<p>For now, the GT3 delivery is expected around late April to late May. It\u2019s probably rocking on a ship somewhere at sea right now. He also goes on tours and drives quite frequently. In fact, he often takes <strong>long tours lasting 3 nights and 4 days<\/strong>. He likes going to the circuit too, but <strong>only a few times a year at most.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What he really loves is touring and driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">For my way of using the car, the RS models don\u2019t fit and would be a waste. Above all, <strong>I thought I wouldn\u2019t be able to handle the RS models, so I chose the regular GT3.<\/strong> Among those, the “Touring Package” is perfect for someone who loves touring. <strong>A GT3 without a wing is just so stylish.<\/strong> There are probably few of them, so it won\u2019t clash with others and should be quite rare.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said. However, it\u2019s not that he dislikes the PDK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">When I drove a friend\u2019s GT3 with PDK before, I thought it was a world-class transmission with lightning-fast shifts, but since it doesn\u2019t have creep at takeoff, crawling in traffic seemed tough. <strong>I didn\u2019t want the amazing PDK to become a source of stress in city driving.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">With an MT, you can control it freely, and since I\u2019ve already experienced <strong>how fun it is to drive an MT in the city with my Boxster<\/strong>, the Touring Package being MT-only was perfect. Also, with stricter environmental regulations coming, who knows when MTs will disappear? Opportunities to handle a 500ps naturally aspirated engine with an MT won\u2019t come often.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s his reasoning. I agree with him, but on the other hand, I wonder if I, who struggle even with the Boxster GTS MT, will be able to handle the GT3 Touring MT\u2026 that\u2019s my only worry (lol).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Body Color: Crayon<\/h3>\n<p>Regarding the choice of the Crayon body color, my husband said this:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">I think Crayon started appearing around the time the new Panamera came out. I started seeing Crayon Panameras on Instagram here and there, and then I noticed many photos of GT3 and GT3 RS in Crayon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00017-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Why he was drawn to Crayon:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">– At first glance, it looks matte and flat, but actually has a glossy feel<br \/>\n– White can lack a sense of depth, but <strong>Crayon gives a sense of depth despite being a light color<\/strong><br \/>\n– Gray tones have been trending in European car colors in recent years<br \/>\n– It\u2019s unlikely to be common in Japan <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(though Crayon is popular in Europe and the US)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also, he felt the dual nature of the GT3 Touring \u2014 <strong>a GT3 without a wing<\/strong> \u2014 matched well with Crayon\u2019s dual nature of <strong>looking whitish at first but actually having a deep color<\/strong>, so he chose Crayon without hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, <strong>in the US, this color is called Chalk, not Crayon,<\/strong> and Porsche also offers very similar colors like Fashion Grey and Sport Classic Grey. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(There are articles online comparing them.)<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Other Options<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019d also like to briefly introduce the reasons behind other option choices.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Touring Package (Black)<\/h4>\n<p>He chose the black Touring Package, which means <strong>logos and window trims are black instead of silver chrome, and the tail lights are blackened<\/strong>. He thought this design would look great with Crayon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00026-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">PCCB<\/h4>\n<p>PCCB <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes)<\/span> was a must-have for the next Porsche purchase. While braking performance is important, he emphasized <strong>the significant reduction in unsprung weight, which improves ride comfort and handling.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Seats \/ Interior<\/h4>\n<p>He chose <strong>Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way electric)<\/strong>, but honestly, he considered <strong>going for the full carbon bucket seats.<\/strong> Full bucket seats look incredibly cool and are only available on special models like the 918 Spyder and GT3 variants, making them very rare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">However, since he bought the car mainly for long-distance touring, not being able to recline or rest in the seat at convenience stores or roadside stations would be tough.<\/p>\n<p>He said that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9541\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00014-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also thought, “<strong>Wouldn\u2019t the standard Sports Seat Plus be enough then?<\/strong>” but<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">he really wanted the interior stitching to match the exterior Crayon color. That meant <strong>he had to choose the Leather Package along with the Adaptive Sports Seats Plus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If he didn\u2019t choose the Leather Package, he couldn\u2019t select the stitching color, and the dashboard and door trims would be plastic, making the GT3 interior look worse than the Boxster GTS with Leather Package, which he wanted to avoid.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Touring Package comes standard with black aluminum panels around the shifter, glovebox cup holder cover, and door trims, which look a bit subdued, he chose the <strong>Carbon Interior Package (for Leather Package)<\/strong> \u2014 the same one he selected for the Panamera \u2014 to upgrade those parts to carbon.<\/p>\n<p>He also chose silver-gray seat belts to match the exterior.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00016-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Lights<\/h4>\n<p>He chose black xenon headlights with PDLS. Although he had selected LED lights for the Panamera, he felt <strong>there wasn\u2019t much difference in brightness<\/strong> and preferred the design of xenon lights, where the four daytime running lights are inside the headlight rather than along the circle\u2019s edge as with LED.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the LED daytime running light on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/P17_0254_a5_rgb-800x444.jpg\" alt=\"991.2 GT3\" width=\"800\" height=\"444\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here is the xenon daytime running light on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Slider_911GT3_03_Motor-16dd1169-800x307.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Auto-Dimming Mirrors<\/h4>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t particularly concerned about auto-dimming mirrors but chose them mainly for the <strong>automatic wiper function that comes with them.<\/strong> He regretted not ordering this option when he bought the Boxster GTS because he didn\u2019t know about it then.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Seat Heaters<\/h4>\n<p>He chose seat heaters because they\u2019re convenient when it\u2019s cold or when he has a cold. Though I think, “<strong>If you have a cold, shouldn\u2019t you just stay home and rest?<\/strong>” (-_-). He also wanted seat ventilation but apparently it\u2019s not available on the GT3.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9542\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00012-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Smoker\u2019s Package<\/h4>\n<p>He doesn\u2019t need the ashtray function but chose the Smoker\u2019s Package because <strong>it adds an extra 12V power socket.<\/strong> During touring, he charges various smartphones and camera gear, so having more power outlets is definitely better.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Wheels<\/h4>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t fond of black wheels and initially planned to keep them silver, but since the car is Crayon with yellow PCCB calipers, he thought <strong>a slightly darker color might suit better<\/strong> and chose Satin Platinum.<\/p>\n<p>His only complaint is that he dislikes that only center-lock wheels are available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">You can\u2019t fix a flat tire during touring, and removing the wheels yourself requires a huge torque wrench, which is inconvenient. RS models might need it for racing, but at least the Touring Package should offer regular 5-lug wheels as an option.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Sport Chrono Package<\/h4>\n<p>For the GT3, there is no Sport Plus mode, so the Sport Chrono Package basically includes just the stopwatch, digital stopwatch function, and the performance display in Porsche Communication Management (PCM). <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So this time, I\u2019d like to introduce <strong>why my husband chose the GT3 Touring Package and decided on these particular options and specs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While I think options should basically be chosen according to personal preference, I hope understanding his thoughts and reasons will be helpful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00001-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">My Touring-Loving Husband<\/h3>\n<p>My husband uses his car for commuting every day. He also goes on tours and drives quite frequently. In fact, he often takes <strong>long tours lasting 3 nights and 4 days<\/strong>. He likes going to the circuit too, but <strong>only a few times a year at most.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What he really loves is touring and driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">For my way of using the car, the RS models don\u2019t fit and would be a waste. Above all, <strong>I thought I wouldn\u2019t be able to handle the RS models, so I chose the regular GT3.<\/strong> Among those, the “Touring Package” is perfect for someone who loves touring. <strong>A GT3 without a wing is just so stylish.<\/strong> There are probably few of them, so it won\u2019t clash with others and should be quite rare.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said. However, it\u2019s not that he dislikes the PDK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">When I drove a friend\u2019s GT3 with PDK before, I thought it was a world-class transmission with lightning-fast shifts, but since it doesn\u2019t have creep at takeoff, crawling in traffic seemed tough. <strong>I didn\u2019t want the amazing PDK to become a source of stress in city driving.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">With an MT, you can control it freely, and since I\u2019ve already experienced <strong>how fun it is to drive an MT in the city with my Boxster<\/strong>, the Touring Package being MT-only was perfect. Also, with stricter environmental regulations coming, who knows when MTs will disappear? Opportunities to handle a 500ps naturally aspirated engine with an MT won\u2019t come often.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s his reasoning. I agree with him, but on the other hand, I wonder if I, who struggle even with the Boxster GTS MT, will be able to handle the GT3 Touring MT\u2026 that\u2019s my only worry (lol).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Body Color: Crayon<\/h3>\n<p>Regarding the choice of the Crayon body color, my husband said this:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">I think Crayon started appearing around the time the new Panamera came out. I started seeing Crayon Panameras on Instagram here and there, and then I noticed many photos of GT3 and GT3 RS in Crayon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00017-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Why he was drawn to Crayon:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">– At first glance, it looks matte and flat, but actually has a glossy feel<br \/>\n– White can lack a sense of depth, but <strong>Crayon gives a sense of depth despite being a light color<\/strong><br \/>\n– Gray tones have been trending in European car colors in recent years<br \/>\n– It\u2019s unlikely to be common in Japan <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(though Crayon is popular in Europe and the US)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also, he felt the dual nature of the GT3 Touring \u2014 <strong>a GT3 without a wing<\/strong> \u2014 matched well with Crayon\u2019s dual nature of <strong>looking whitish at first but actually having a deep color<\/strong>, so he chose Crayon without hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, <strong>in the US, this color is called Chalk, not Crayon,<\/strong> and Porsche also offers very similar colors like Fashion Grey and Sport Classic Grey. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(There are articles online comparing them.)<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Other Options<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019d also like to briefly introduce the reasons behind other option choices.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Touring Package (Black)<\/h4>\n<p>He chose the black Touring Package, which means <strong>logos and window trims are black instead of silver chrome, and the tail lights are blackened<\/strong>. He thought this design would look great with Crayon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00026-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">PCCB<\/h4>\n<p>PCCB <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes)<\/span> was a must-have for the next Porsche purchase. While braking performance is important, he emphasized <strong>the significant reduction in unsprung weight, which improves ride comfort and handling.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Seats \/ Interior<\/h4>\n<p>He chose <strong>Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way electric)<\/strong>, but honestly, he considered <strong>going for the full carbon bucket seats.<\/strong> Full bucket seats look incredibly cool and are only available on special models like the 918 Spyder and GT3 variants, making them very rare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">However, since he bought the car mainly for long-distance touring, not being able to recline or rest in the seat at convenience stores or roadside stations would be tough.<\/p>\n<p>He said that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9541\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00014-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also thought, “<strong>Wouldn\u2019t the standard Sports Seat Plus be enough then?<\/strong>” but<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">he really wanted the interior stitching to match the exterior Crayon color. That meant <strong>he had to choose the Leather Package along with the Adaptive Sports Seats Plus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If he didn\u2019t choose the Leather Package, he couldn\u2019t select the stitching color, and the dashboard and door trims would be plastic, making the GT3 interior look worse than the Boxster GTS with Leather Package, which he wanted to avoid.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Touring Package comes standard with black aluminum panels around the shifter, glovebox cup holder cover, and door trims, which look a bit subdued, he chose the <strong>Carbon Interior Package (for Leather Package)<\/strong> \u2014 the same one he selected for the Panamera \u2014 to upgrade those parts to carbon.<\/p>\n<p>He also chose silver-gray seat belts to match the exterior.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00016-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Lights<\/h4>\n<p>He chose black xenon headlights with PDLS. Although he had selected LED lights for the Panamera, he felt <strong>there wasn\u2019t much difference in brightness<\/strong> and preferred the design of xenon lights, where the four daytime running lights are inside the headlight rather than along the circle\u2019s edge as with LED.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the LED daytime running light on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/P17_0254_a5_rgb-800x444.jpg\" alt=\"991.2 GT3\" width=\"800\" height=\"444\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here is the xenon daytime running light on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Slider_911GT3_03_Motor-16dd1169-800x307.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Auto-Dimming Mirrors<\/h4>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t particularly concerned about auto-dimming mirrors but chose them mainly for the <strong>automatic wiper function that comes with them.<\/strong> He regretted not ordering this option when he bought the Boxster GTS because he didn\u2019t know about it then.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Seat Heaters<\/h4>\n<p>He chose seat heaters because they\u2019re convenient when it\u2019s cold or when he has a cold. Though I think, “<strong>If you have a cold, shouldn\u2019t you just stay home and rest?<\/strong>” (-_-). He also wanted seat ventilation but apparently it\u2019s not available on the GT3.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9542\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_00012-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Smoker\u2019s Package<\/h4>\n<p>He doesn\u2019t need the ashtray function but chose the Smoker\u2019s Package because <strong>it adds an extra 12V power socket.<\/strong> During touring, he charges various smartphones and camera gear, so having more power outlets is definitely better.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"style4b\">Wheels<\/h4>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t fond of black wheels and initially planned to keep them silver, but since the car is Crayon with yellow PCCB calipers, he thought <strong>a slightly darker color might suit better<\/strong> and chose Satin Platinum.<\/p>\n<p>His only complaint is that he dislikes that only center-lock wheels are available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">You can\u2019t fix a flat tire during touring, and removing the wheels yourself requires a huge torque wrench, which is inconvenient.
