By the way, here it is \u2193)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9663\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/K0000889697_0001-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The tricky part about choosing a body color is that even within the same color family, there are options like <strong>\u201cWhite\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cCarrara White Metallic\u201d<\/strong>, or <strong>\u201cBlack\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cJet Black Metallic\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If the difference was obvious, it would be easier, but usually it\u2019s just a \u201chmm, maybe slightly different if you look closely\u2026\u201d kind of subtle difference. Plus, <strong>the way the color looks changes depending on lighting, time of day, and weather.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So today, I decided to explore <strong>how similar Porsche body colors actually differ from each other.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_White\"><\/span>1. White<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Starting with white, you can choose the standard color <strong>\u201cWhite\u201d<\/strong> or the metallic option <strong>\u201cCarrara White Metallic\u201d <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(no extra cost)<\/span><\/strong>. Here is \u201cWhite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9606\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/iris-1-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here is \u201cCarrara White Metallic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9607\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/iris-1-1-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Hmm, I can\u2019t really tell the difference\u2026 (*_*)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When placed side by side, it looks like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9609\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/white-800x565.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"565\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well\u2026 (laughs) The Carrara White Metallic has a bit of metallic shimmer, making it <strong>look slightly bluish, glossier, and more three-dimensional.<\/strong> The name \u201cCarrara\u201d comes from <strong>the Italian marble quarry \u201cCarrara.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since that alone wasn\u2019t enough to grasp the difference, I compared the colors on our own Porsches. Luckily, our 981 Boxster GTS is in <strong>\u201cWhite\u201d<\/strong>, and our previous 970 Panamera Edition was in <strong>\u201cCarrara White Metallic.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s almost like I picked these just for the blog (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the Boxster\u2019s \u201cWhite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4421\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_6749-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"981 Boxster GTS\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since I took these photos with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/2018\/06\/07\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sony digital SLR camera \u201c\u03b1III\u201d<\/a>, which is quite good, the \u201cWhite\u201d might appear clearer and sharper than it does to the naked eye. (w)<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Black\"><\/span>2. Black<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Next up is black. There are a few types, but first here\u2019s the standard color <strong>\u201cBlack.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/iris-3-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s the metallic option, \u201cJet Black Metallic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/iris-1-2-800x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hmm\u2026 the difference is even harder to spot than with white (*_*).<\/p>\n<p>When compared side by side\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9626\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/black-800x565.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"565\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Wait, these are actually the same photo (*_*)!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I thought I made a mistake and checked multiple times, but the top photo is definitely \u201cBlack\u201d and the bottom is \u201cJet Black Metallic.\u201d I think when photographed under cloudy skies or in low light, the difference is barely noticeable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The difference is clearer on sunny days.<\/strong> I once saw a friend\u2019s Boxster in \u201cJet Black Metallic\u201d on a sunny day, and it looked more like a <strong>purplish black<\/strong> than just black.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s \u201cJet Black Metallic\u201d under cloudy skies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9621\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_4280-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9622\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_8550-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here it is on a sunny day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9628\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_8537-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The blue tint is more pronounced. Both have their charm, but currently \u201cJet Black Metallic\u201d is more popular.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Red\"><\/span>3. Red<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Next, let\u2019s compare reds. <strong>We\u2019ll look at the standard \u201cGuards Red\u201d and the special \u201cCarmine Red.\u201d<\/strong> The difference here is quite clear. Currently, the 718 configurator only offers \u201cGT Silver\u201d as the silver option.
