Most people I know, including myself, buy cars because they <strong>truly love cars and are genuinely captivated by Porsche\u2019s driving and performance.<\/strong> So I can\u2019t really understand buying a car just to <strong>look good to others<\/strong> without knowing the car\u2019s performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, that\u2019s true. And looking at it from another angle, I also wondered, &#8220;<strong>Was the reason the female employees didn\u2019t want to ride in this husband\u2019s car really just about the car itself\u2026?<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To put it extremely, if a colleague drives a new Lexus or Harrier, and Masaharu Fukuyama is driving an old Sienta, and you have to get a ride to the next dinner spot, you\u2019d definitely want to ride in the Lexus or Harrier, right?<\/p>\n<p>Well, that\u2019s an extreme example, but still, haha.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Buying_a_Car_Just_for_Appearances\"><\/span>Buying a Car Just for Appearances?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s not wrong to buy a car as a status symbol, and when a mom at kindergarten says, &#8220;<strong>Wow, Porsche, that\u2019s cool!<\/strong>,&#8221; I honestly feel happy. I think everyone has at least a little bit of that feeling.<\/p>\n<p>But if the husband says he wants to switch cars just because he wants to &#8220;<strong>look good to others<\/strong>,&#8221; then I might also oppose it, thinking, &#8220;<strong>Wait, you hardly even drive it, and you want to spend 8 million yen on something just for that reason?<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2026No, I\u2019d definitely oppose it at least once.<\/p>\n<p>When a husband consults about buying something expensive, as a wife, it\u2019s hard to say \u201c<strong>Go ahead and buy it!<\/strong>\u201d unless the &#8220;<strong>reason for buying<\/strong>&#8221; is convincing, not just the price.<\/p>\n<p>I wish husbands would put as much effort into convincing their wives as they do when preparing a presentation at work.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"About_the_Husband-Wife_Relationship\"><\/span>About the Husband-Wife Relationship<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Until now, my stance was &#8220;<strong>I basically don\u2019t oppose what my husband wants to do<\/strong>,&#8221; but after receiving different perspectives this time, I thought, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s not always okay to just go along every time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if there\u2019s no reason to oppose, it\u2019s fine to support, but if you feel uncomfortable or think \u201cthis isn\u2019t quite right,\u201d it might be important to honestly say, &#8220;<strong>This is what I think; I don\u2019t agree with that<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For example, people who can afford to buy a Porsche usually hold some position at work and are older, so they often don\u2019t have anyone around to give them frank advice.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why, as a wife, it might be an important role to point out when you think something is wrong or to help your husband realize it.
