While researching delivery info and browsing images online to see if I could improve the specs, my husband said this to me:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cThat car would look cleaner and cooler without the emblem on the back, don\u2019t you think?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hearing that, I searched online for images of the car both with and without emblems and compared them. Sure enough, the emblemless version gave off a more stylish vibe.<\/p>\n<p>But being a bit timid, I hesitated, wondering, \u201cIs it really okay to be so picky\u2026?\u201d Then I asked my husband, \u201cCould you ask the dealer if we can skip the emblem?\u201d <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(I should have called myself, though.)<\/span> He promptly contacted the dealer, and<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">They agreed to remove the emblem before the car arrives at the dealership. I also asked them not to put any stickers on the rear window. They did mention, \u201cThere\u2019s a slight chance some marks might remain after removing the emblem, so please understand that.\u201d By the way, they said, \u201cSome people do choose to go emblemless every now and then,\u201d which made me laugh.<\/p>\n<p>Before this, I never even considered that you could order a new car without emblems, nor did I think it was possible. But watching my husband, I learned that if you have something on your mind or wonder, \u201cCould we do it this way?\u201d it\u2019s always good to tell or consult with your dealer.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, when my husband bought his first Porsche, a Boxster GTS (981), he ordered it without the \u201cBoxster GTS\u201d logo on the rear.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23941 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMG_1277.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Boxster GTS\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the time, I wasn\u2019t really into cars, so long after delivery, I was surprised and asked him, \u201cWait, it doesn\u2019t say Boxster GTS anywhere!!\u201d He said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cYou\u2019re just noticing now? Yeah, I didn\u2019t put the logo on. It only says \u2018GTS\u2019 on the side, and the back is simply \u2018PORSCHE.\u2019 Because the GTS has different aero parts, at a glance you can tell, \u2018Hmm, this isn\u2019t a normal Boxster,\u2019 but there\u2019s no GTS badge on the rear. But those who know will recognize, \u2018Ah! They removed the GTS badge but it\u2019s still a GTS!\u2019 That\u2019s the point. Also, the GTS usually has red dials and lots of Alcantara inside, but I deliberately went with regular black and leather interior instead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23944 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMG_1117.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Boxster GTS Interior\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thinking back, when he bought the wingless GT3 Touring, he said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cThe best thing about the Touring is that there\u2019s no GT3 badge on the back! And it looks a bit different from a regular 911\u2026 Since there\u2019s no wing, you might think it\u2019s not a GT3\u2026 but those who know will see, \u2018Ah! This is a GT3!\u2019 That\u2019s what I like. It\u2019s a GT3 only the knowledgeable can tell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s quite an unusual guy to say, \u201cEven though I bought a GTS or GT3, I\u2019d rather it not be obvious at first glance\u201d (\u2013_-).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23945\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMG_0416.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3 Touring\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Emblemless_Cars_Are_Common_in_Germany\"><\/span>Emblemless Cars Are Common in Germany<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>While emblemless or logo-free cars are rare in Japan, apparently they\u2019re quite common in Germany.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/car-museums-in-germany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On our honeymoon trip to Germany<\/a>, we rented a Porsche 911 and drove nonstop on the Autobahn and Romantic Road, visiting Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi museums <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(what kind of honeymoon was that? lol)<\/span>. My husband was surprised by how many cars in Germany drive without emblems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Even with Mercedes-Benz, it\u2019s sometimes hard to tell if it\u2019s an S-Class or E-Class, and you can\u2019t tell the grade either. From what I see on Instagram, it\u2019s common in Germany to deliberately remove emblems. Apparently, except for Porsche, German cars imported to Japan don\u2019t offer emblemless options, but in Germany you can choose it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23948\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMG_0202.jpg\" alt=\"Cars in Germany\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t notice any of this myself, but what stuck with me more was <strong>\u201calmost all taxis were Mercedes\u201d and \u201csomeone surfing in the freezing cold river in Munich.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23949\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMG_1332.jpg\" alt=\"Mercedes-Benz Taxi\" width=\"900\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23950\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/IMG_0044.jpg\" alt=\"Surfing in Munich\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I used to think that if a car has a badge like \u201cS63,\u201d people around would say, \u201cWow! An S63! Amazing!\u201d so I\u2019d want to keep it on. But maybe the way Germans think about grades and models is different.<\/p>\n<p>A quick online search showed opinions like, \u201cOn the Autobahn, if cars behind discriminate based on engine size or base vs. high grade, it makes driving difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No wonder they\u2019re a country that drives at 200 km\/h on the Autobahn.<\/p>\n<p>Car culture is totally different between Japan and overseas\u2014even down to body colors. Once things settle down, I\u2019d love to visit Germany again.
