Car Navigation<\/strong><\/a> is compatible with Apple CarPlay. Car Navigation is now usable. My husband said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cGoogle Maps is good, but when we go touring in the countryside, it\u2019ll confidently guide us down <strong>ridiculously narrow roads and forest trails<\/strong>. Google Maps usually finds good shortcuts, but sometimes that backfires. On the other hand, <strong>Yahoo! Car Navigation picks standard roads<\/strong>, so it\u2019s easier to use.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, yesterday I immediately tried Yahoo! Car Navigation on the Panamera\u2019s CarPlay, and here are my impressions.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Trying Out Yahoo! Car Navigation<\/h3>\n<p>After installing the Yahoo! Car Navigation app and connecting my iPhone to the Panamera, this is how <strong>Yahoo! Car Navigation<\/strong> appeared on the screen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10543\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1892-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Setting the destination is very convenient because you operate it on your iPhone, not the car\u2019s touchscreen. That day, I decided to go shopping at Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens, and when I set the destination, this is what showed up.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10544\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0418-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It displays the \u201cestimated arrival time, time remaining, and distance,\u201d and the display is quite easy to read. I thought, \u201cNo way we\u2019ll get there in 16 minutes,\u201d but I selected \u201cStart Navigation\u201d and set off. When navigation starts, this message appears on the smartphone screen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10545\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0422-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>For your safety, please do not operate your smartphone while driving<\/strong>.\u201d How thoughtful! The route guidance also clearly announces upcoming turns in advance, making it very easy to follow. The display is simple and easy to see.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0419-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you log in to Yahoo! Car Navigation, it considers traffic congestion. Indeed, congested areas were marked in \u201cred\u201d or \u201corange,\u201d but it didn\u2019t force unnecessary detours&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10548\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1899-800x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We arrived <strong>6 minutes later than originally planned<\/strong>. Well, that\u2019s a minor difference. On the way back, I set my daughter\u2019s kindergarten as the destination, and <strong>it popped up instantly in the search, which was very convenient<\/strong>. The Panamera\u2019s built-in navigation requires you to convert kanji or katakana on the touchscreen, but with this, there\u2019s no such hassle\u2014stress-free.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10549\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0423-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The display clearly shows instructions like \u201cTurn right in 1.1 km, stay in the center lane,\u201d making it easy to glance at while driving.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10550\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0426-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This time of day is quite busy, so we were a bit late compared to the original plan, but we arrived at the kindergarten just in time for pickup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0427-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Impressions of Yahoo! Car Navigation<\/h3>\n<p>After using Yahoo! Car Navigation a bit, my impression is that it\u2019s <strong>extremely easy to use<\/strong>. It doesn\u2019t suggest strange shortcuts or routes that make you wonder \u201cWhy the detour?\u201d but rather <strong>shows easy-to-drive, standard routes<\/strong>. The display is clear, and voice guidance is helpful.<\/p>\n<p>People often say <strong>\u201cNavigation systems in foreign cars aren\u2019t very smart,\u201d<\/strong> and indeed, the Panamera\u2019s built-in nav isn\u2019t very clever&#8230; Honestly, I think I won\u2019t need to use the car\u2019s built-in navigation anymore. After all, as long as there\u2019s a screen (a box) to display it, that\u2019s all you need.<\/p>\n<p>With Yahoo! Car Navigation now supporting CarPlay, the car navigation industry must be shaking up even more&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m looking forward to trying Yahoo! Car Navigation on long drives soon.
