{"id":37381,"date":"2019-04-15T06:00:15","date_gmt":"2019-04-14T21:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/?p=37381"},"modified":"2019-07-09T15:35:44","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T06:35:44","slug":"we-joined-with-air-cooled-porsche-at-royu-driveway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/en\/entry\/we-joined-with-air-cooled-porsche-at-royu-driveway\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Morning Gathering at Royu Driveway Again \u2013 Porsche 356, GT3RS, Ferrari&#8230;etc. All Assembled!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"style3a\">Gathering at Royu Driveway<\/h3>\n<p>Last weekend, my husband planned to <strong>join the morning gathering at Royu Driveway<\/strong>, so <strong>I decided to join him after a long time.<\/strong> Since it was cherry blossom season, my mother-in-law came to our house to help watch the kids while we enjoyed the flowers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10293\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_0453-800x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This time, there was no accident like \u201c<strong>the kids getting sick the day before<\/strong>,\u201d so we were able to participate as planned\u2026 but then the weather didn\u2019t cooperate. The weekly forecast had been \u201csunny\u201d all along, but <strong>right after I decided \u201cI\u2019m going to Royu!\u201d the afternoon forecast changed to rain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2026Seriously, how much of a rain woman am I? ( -_- )<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Early Morning Departure for Royu<\/h3>\n<p>We headed out in the air-cooled 911 (964C2). The meet-up was at 8:30 a.m., so it was a relatively early start. Luckily, the girls were in good spirits from the morning, so we managed to get ready and set off. After removing the body cover and warming up the engine a bit, I got into the air-cooled 911.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I thought, \u201c<strong>If Porsches are gathering, I have to bring this bag!<\/strong>\u201d so I took my Porsche Design bag along. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(I\u2019ve only used it about three times since buying it, lol)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10298\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1673-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The road leading to Royu was lined with cherry blossoms and looked beautiful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1759-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>once we entered Royu Driveway, the cherry blossoms hadn\u2019t bloomed at all yet.<\/strong> It seems the blooming there is still a bit later. Also, since delivery, I felt my husband\u2019s driving skills with the RR layout have improved even more through his dedicated practice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10314\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1674-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the car, we talked, \u201c<strong>It\u2019s an 8:30 meet-up, but everyone\u2019s coming from far away, so they\u2019ll probably be late.<\/strong>\u201d When we slowly arrived at the Higashi Rokko Observatory, an incredible number of supercars and sports cars were already there\u2026!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1751-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>No parking spots left (*_*)!<\/p>\n<p>I had thought, \u201c<strong>With only a morning sunny forecast and the great season, there\u2019d be more cars than usual,<\/strong>\u201d but I never imagined this many. Wow, car lovers really start early in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>And there was a lineup of classic and modern legends.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1769-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1691-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10319\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1698-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10305\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1768-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A GT3RS <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(and it even had PCCB!)<\/span>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10302\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1697-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A bright blue Cayman GT4\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10303\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1696-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And even a 356\u2026!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1700-1-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We safely met up with our friends, and among the attendees was the owner of the 981 Boxster Black Edition I previously introduced in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/porsche-owners-file-boxster-black-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Porsche Owners File<\/a>. He was unusually excited, saying, \u201c<strong>This is my first time coming to Royu on a Sunday morning!<\/strong>\u201d lol<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10307\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1754-2-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">718 Boxster GTS<\/h3>\n<p>While we were chatting, the owner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/compare-with-718-and-981-boxstergts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">718 Boxster GTS (MT)<\/a> I introduced before arrived.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10308\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1771-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wow, so cool\u2014the sharp eyes of the headlights, the silhouette\u2026 truly stunning.<\/p>\n<p>After greetings, he said, \u201c<strong>Today, you should definitely try driving it too!<\/strong>\u201d But since I was nervous about handling someone else\u2019s MT car, my husband drove it first. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(He had only been a passenger before.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1722-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I sat in the passenger seat and experienced the 718 Boxster GTS\u2019s drive. My husband was thrilled right away, saying, \u201c<strong>It\u2019s totally different from the 981!<\/strong>\u201d I\u2019ll share his test drive review of the 718 Boxster GTS <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(his impressions)<\/span> separately.<\/p>\n<p>After about 10 minutes driving the Royu Driveway and returning to the observatory, my husband said to me:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">\u201cMina, you better hold off on driving this for now. You should get more comfortable with MT cars first, or you might break the clutch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I see\u2026 Well, since it\u2019s someone else\u2019s precious GTS, it would be rude to drive it without confidence. Plus, \u201c<strong>just riding shotgun let me feel the difference from the 981,<\/strong>\u201d so I\u2019m happy with that.<\/p>\n<p>The 718 was \u201c<strong>much smoother and more fluid when cornering<\/strong>\u201d than the 981, and the ride was very comfortable. The engine sound was, of course, different from the 981, but I could feel how nice the low-tone, air-cooled-like engine note was when revved high.<\/p>\n<p>Later, although I didn\u2019t drive, I got to press the clutch in the 718\u2019s driver seat just for fun (lol).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1719-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The clutch felt lighter than the 981\u2019s, seeming easier for women to operate.<\/p>\n<p>Our white Boxster with the red top is cool, but the black body with red top Boxster is also very sleek.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10316\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1736-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The owner said he\u2019s decided \u201c<strong>all my cars must be black<\/strong>,\u201d and the red leather interior is his personal touch. <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Though some say the red dashboard reflects on the windshield making visibility harder, he said it wasn\u2019t a problem that day.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s been busy since delivery and hasn\u2019t driven much, but said, \u201c<strong>Just washing it or looking at it makes me very happy.<\/strong>\u201d Hearing that made me feel happy too.<\/p>\n<p>Cars are wonderful.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Good People Gather at Royu<\/h3>\n<p>Afterwards, we enjoyed a very fun and meaningful time <strong>taking photos of each other\u2019s cars, test-driving, and exchanging information among owners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I used to be a bit intimidated by Royu Driveway <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(since it\u2019s mostly high-end cars, I wondered if someone like me with no car ownership experience should even go)\u2026<\/span> but everyone was really kind, and the atmosphere was peaceful and bright.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10313\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1758-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 981 Boxster Black Edition owner who joined the Royu morning gathering for the first time said with a big smile, \u201c<strong>I had so much fun! I want to come again!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After 10 a.m., sports cars and supercars gradually started leaving, and family cars began to increase. Ah, so <strong>that\u2019s why sports car folks are active early in the morning before families get moving, lol.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We left Higashi Rokko Observatory around 11 a.m. and headed home.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10310\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1749-800x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(My husband cooling the engine, dusting off dirt, and putting the body cover back on)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>After enjoying so much and getting home before noon\u2026 <strong>what a healthy hobby!<\/strong> (lol) I definitely want to go again!
