After returning home, I kept muttering things like, &#8220;<strong>They handle such wonderful cars, so I wish they would sell them with more passion\u2026!<\/strong>&#8221; Then my husband said, &#8220;<strong>If you have so much to say, why not write a blog post? lol<\/strong>&#8221; So I did.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23589\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1138.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche seat\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then recently, I had the opposite experience\u2014I was deeply moved by a customer service encounter. When I passionately told my husband about it after coming home, he said, &#8220;<strong>If you\u2019re that moved, write a blog post! lol<\/strong>&#8221; So here I am writing about it again (laughs).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Visiting_a_Car_Friends_Hair_Salon\"><\/span>Visiting a Car Friend\u2019s Hair Salon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This time, the moving experience wasn\u2019t at a car dealer, but at a hair salon.<\/p>\n<p>Due to COVID-19, I hadn\u2019t been to a hair salon for several months. Since having children, my hairstyle had been a simple &#8220;<strong>bob<\/strong>,&#8221; but<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23592\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23592\" class=\"wp-image-23592 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/2018-04-08-10.06.06-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23592\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This was my usual look.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Recently, my hair had grown wild, the color had faded and become damaged, and on top of that, postpartum my hair texture was dry and brittle, making a real mess.<\/p>\n<p>Then the other day, my husband said, &#8220;<strong>Maybe it\u2019s time to go to the hair salon?<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s not interested in fashion or style at all, and usually doesn\u2019t notice if I cut my hair or get my nails done, so for him to say, &#8220;<strong>Why don\u2019t you go to the hair salon?<\/strong>&#8221; meant my hair must have been in pretty bad shape (laughs).<\/p>\n<p>But I replied, &#8220;<strong>With COVID and all, I\u2019m hesitant to take the baby to a salon on a weekday\u2026 Also, my hair damage is so bad I don\u2019t even know what to do anymore.<\/strong>&#8221; Then my husband said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Why not try going to TAKURO\u2019s place? The cut space is like a semi-private room, so it\u2019s a safe setup even in these times. TAKURO is a friendly guy, so it should be good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ueno_takuro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TAKURO<\/a> is a Porsche owner my husband has recently become friends with. He loves cars and currently drives a 911 GT3 (I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/entry\/%e3%83%9d%e3%83%ab%e3%82%b7%e3%82%a7-911-gt3%e3%82%92%e8%a9%a6%e4%b9%97-mt%e3%81%a8pdk%e3%81%af%e3%81%93%e3%82%93%e3%81%aa%e3%81%ab%e3%82%82%e9%81%95%e3%81%86%e3%80%82\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently had the chance to test drive<\/a>), and runs a hair salon called <a href=\"http:\/\/bloom-hair-design.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bloom hair design<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23593\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/IMG_1281-700x480-1.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche 911 GT3\" width=\"700\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I felt a little embarrassed about having someone my husband knows cut my hair, but since he said, &#8220;<strong>I\u2019ll watch the three kids!<\/strong>&#8221; I decided to give TAKURO a try.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"About_the_Customer_Service_That_Moved_Me\"><\/span>About the Customer Service That Moved Me<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When I actually went, I was deeply impressed by <strong>TAKURO\u2019s imagination, knowledge, and proposal skills<\/strong>. It was my first time experiencing such customer service at a hair salon, and it was eye-opening.<\/p>\n<p>Beforehand, I had prepared by organizing in my mind <strong>why I had kept a bob for years and why my hair had become so damaged<\/strong>, and was ready to explain this. But as soon as I sat down, TAKURO said, &#8220;<strong>Let me take a look at your hair first<\/strong>,&#8221; and began examining my hair from the surface to the inside.<\/p>\n<p>During that time, he asked me two or three questions like &#8220;<strong>Do you use a hair iron?<\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong>From your blog, you\u2019ve always had a bob, right?<\/strong>&#8221; After a while, TAKURO said, &#8220;<strong>I\u2019m guessing Mina-san\u2026<\/strong>&#8221; and shared his hypothesis about <strong>what treatments I had done and why I kept the bob<\/strong>\u2014and it was exactly what I had prepared to say beforehand.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t help but say,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2026Wow! Are you a fortune teller!?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>(laughs)<\/p>\n<p>Until now, I\u2019d been asked at salons, &#8220;<strong>Is there anything you\u2019re concerned about?<\/strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>What kind of hairstyle do you want?<\/strong>&#8221; but never had anyone look at my hair and immediately pinpoint the situation.<\/p>\n<p>He also clearly explained the characteristics of my hair and the causes of damage, and I thought, &#8220;<strong>Ah, so that\u2019s what\u2019s going on\u2026<\/strong>&#8221; and was very convinced.<\/p>\n<p>When I said, &#8220;TAKURO, you really are a fortune teller\u2026&#8221; he replied, &#8220;<strong>No, this is my job\u2026 though I guess I\u2019m a bit of a maniac lol<\/strong>.&#8221; After this whole exchange, I decided, &#8220;I want to keep coming here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/4219686_s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In sales and customer service (maybe in any profession), I think <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u201c<\/span><strong>imagination<\/strong>\u201d is crucial. When meeting a customer for the first time, they rarely share all their information, so you start with limited details.<\/p>\n<p>But by expanding your imagination within that limited information and picturing the customer\u2019s background\u2026 <strong>\u201cMaybe they have this worry,\u201d \u201cPerhaps they came in feeling this way today\u201d<\/strong>\u2014by imagining as much as possible and listening with that mindset, customers gradually open their hearts.<\/p>\n<p>This time, I was moved by TAKURO\u2019s <strong>imagination<\/strong> and overwhelming <strong>knowledge<\/strong>, and learned a lot.<\/p>\n<p>What impressed me most was his <strong>proposal skills<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, I had always just cut my hair when it got damaged, so my hairstyle was a permanent bob <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(not exactly stylish\u2026)<\/span>. I had given up thinking, &#8220;<strong>I have curly hair, it\u2019s badly damaged, so there\u2019s no way I can grow it out.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But TAKURO said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">With your hair type, Mina-san, it would look better and be easier to manage if you grow it to medium length. It would also suit you. It\u2019s definitely possible to grow it out beautifully with shine. If you trust me for six months, I can restore your hair to its natural beautiful state. Today, I\u2019ll teach you all the home care methods, and if you follow them, you\u2019ll definitely see a change. What do you think? Shall we try growing it out?<\/p>\n<p>I was surprised and genuinely happy to see a light at the end of the tunnel, when I had thought growing it out was impossible. Hearing such a confident statement made me feel so reassured and increased my trust in him.<\/p>\n<p>Now I\u2019m working hard toward medium-length hair in six months, practicing the home care he taught me (laughs).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23610\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/4591355_s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"419\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I\u2019m the customer, whether at a hair salon or buying electronics, I realize something: <strong>customers are often uncertain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So even if a salesperson asks, &#8220;<strong>What do you want? What are you looking for?<\/strong>&#8221; I often can\u2019t answer well (at least, that\u2019s true for me).<\/p>\n<p>Some people, like my husband, research thoroughly before buying anything, sometimes knowing more about the product than the salesperson, and go in with a clear target: &#8220;<strong>I\u2019m buying this.<\/strong>&#8221; But I think those people are rare.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s easier for customers if the salesperson narrows down options and confidently proposes a direction or plan.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Difference_Proposal_Skills_Make\"><\/span>The Difference Proposal Skills Make<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When I excitedly told my husband after coming home, he said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well3\">Good thing you went! When I think about it, the salons you\u2019ve been to before probably just cut your hair because you said it was damaged. But just doing what the customer says isn\u2019t always the right answer. Professionals like TAKURO think carefully about <strong>what\u2019s truly the best choice for the customer<\/strong> and make proposals accordingly. It\u2019s probably the same when buying a new Porsche. You have to decide your own original specs from scratch. It\u2019s expensive, there are tons of options, and the driving feel changes a lot depending on grade and options, so customers really agonize over it. If you leave too much choice to the customer, they often can\u2019t decide. I\u2019ve had trouble deciding myself. That\u2019s why when someone narrows down and confidently proposes, like <strong>\u201cIf you care about driving, this option is essential, but this one isn\u2019t,\u201d \u201cIf you prioritize comfort, you need this, but not that,\u201d<\/strong> it makes it easier for customers to choose. Of course, some people might dislike that kind of service.<\/p>\n<p>That made me think of something my boss told me when I was new in sales.<\/p>\n<p>Back then, lacking confidence, I often said things like &#8220;&#8230;I think&#8221; in presentations without realizing it. My boss said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">Listen, customers are making expensive purchases. If you say things like \u201cI think\u201d or \u201cmaybe\u201d without confidence, customers can\u2019t buy with peace of mind, and it\u2019s disrespectful. From now on, no more \u201cI think.\u201d Always say \u201cIt is like this\u201d with confidence. And study the product thoroughly so you can say that confidently. Of course, if you don\u2019t know something, be honest and look it up. But don\u2019t keep using \u201cI\u2019m new, so I\u2019m not confident\u201d as an excuse to run away.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, I studied products, asked seniors, and learned from customers why they bought and what they liked. As I came to believe \u201cthis product is really cost-effective and great,\u201d I stopped fearing rejection and gained confidence to assert and propose.<\/p>\n<p>So I realized that being able to <strong>assert confidently<\/strong> and having strong <strong>proposal skills<\/strong>, like TAKURO, comes from having confidence in the product or service.<\/p>\n<p>Visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/bloom-hair-design.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TAKURO\u2019s hair salon<\/a> showed me that when you receive service from someone who works with pride and confidence in their job, you feel so good about paying for it <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">(I want to earn more and pay more lol)<\/span> and I learned a lot.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll do my best too!
