The scratch was on the front left side of the car.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10692\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2045-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since I hadn\u2019t noticed it at all, I asked on Twitter for opinions on <strong>what might have caused the scratch<\/strong>. Here are some of the comments I received:<\/p>\n<p class=\"well2\">\u30fbMaybe it was a parking lot payment machine\u2026 That must have hurt\u2026<br \/>\n\u30fbCould it have been a bicycle?<br \/>\n\u30fbOur Golf 7 has a scratch in exactly the same spot. My wife confessed she scraped it on a curb block.<br \/>\n\u30fbLooking closely, the scratch is deep and not straight. It seems more like something hit and scraped it rather than the car scraping itself.<br \/>\n\u30fbMaybe a block wall?<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, it does look like a block wall\u2026 Although neither my husband nor I remember anything, <strong>I\u2019ve been driving the Golf more often lately<\/strong>, so it\u2019s quite possible I accidentally scraped it somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Lately, I\u2019ve been feeling that I\u2019m <strong>more absent-minded than before<\/strong>. Just recently, after picking up my eldest daughter from kindergarten, I went shopping at the supermarket and <strong>forgot her kindergarten bag hanging on the cart<\/strong>. I only realized it late at night and had to rush back to the supermarket before closing time to retrieve it.<\/p>\n<p>And this isn\u2019t the first time\u2014I\u2019ve done this several times.<\/p>\n<p>Since these kinds of things happen often, I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019m the one who caused the scratch on the Golf.<\/p>\n<p>However, the scratch was <strong>too deep for me to fix myself<\/strong>, so I decided to have it repaired at a nearby gas station. Since I had a good experience with their hand car wash service recently <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(both work and service were great)<\/span>, I asked them to handle the repair.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10703\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2052-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Loaner Car: Toyota Aqua<\/h3>\n<p>When I dropped off the Golf in the morning, they said the repair would be done by evening and offered a loaner car for the meantime. I thought it would be a Prius, but it turned out to be an Aqua, lol.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10696\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2053-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the rear, it looks quite similar to a Prius.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10695\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2097-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That said, this Aqua model is apparently 45mm lower in height than the Prius, giving it a slightly sportier feel. The <strong>interior was more refined and stylish than I had imagined<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10697\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2048-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10699\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2050-1-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2051-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Riding an Aqua for the first time in my life, I felt it was <strong>very easy to use for short local trips<\/strong>. When I first started driving, the <strong>body felt a bit soft, the steering was light, and there was some play in the accelerator and brake pedals, which made me a little uneasy<\/strong>. But once I got used to it, it drove just fine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10704\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2104-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Being compact, it fits into any parking lot, and I could easily take shortcuts I usually avoid, lol. <strong>Plus, since it\u2019s a hybrid, the fuel economy is great.<\/strong> I might be sounding harsh, but I liked that I could drive it without worrying about \u201cWhat if I scratch it?\u201d or \u201cWhat about the gas cost?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That said, I didn\u2019t really feel any \u201cdriving pleasure,\u201d so it wasn\u2019t like a Golf or Porsche that makes you want to drive forever. <strong>It just wasn\u2019t that kind of car<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(though comparing them is unfair\u2026)<\/span>. Even though they kindly provided it as a loaner, I only used it for trips to the local supermarket and kindergarten pickup.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Cost of Repairing the Golf\u2019s Scratch<\/h3>\n<p>In the evening, I got a call that the repair was finished, and I eagerly went to pick up the Golf. So how did the scratch turn out?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10701\" src=\"https:\/\/www.panamera-life.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2083-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Amazing\u2026 the scratch was completely gone. Professionals really know how to fix things well. Also, they washed the car during the repair, so the Golf came back looking shiny and fresh overall.<\/p>\n<p>The repair cost was 26,000 yen including tax.
